Fans attending the first eight shows of the Highway Companion tour are in for a special treat. We are happy to confirm that Stevie Nicks will join the tour for its first eight shows -- from the June 9 show at the Verizon Amphitheatre in Charlotte, N.C. through the June 21 show at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, Mass.

Stevie will perform a selection of songs with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers during these shows.

Of course, I can't get to ANY of the first 8 shows (stupid Darien Lake is way at the end, stupid Buffalo, stupid stupid stupid, grrrrr......) but I will once again patiently await for bootlegs to show up. :angel:

This is incredible news. Insider, Strand? I honestly don't know if I dare to hope. I don't know if I could handle the letdown if it doesn't happen. Same for Needles & Pins, oh my lord. So I'm going to assume they'll do SDMHA and maybe The Apartment Song or perhaps Free Fallin and be happy when that actually happens, rather than dream the impossible dream & never recover when it's shattered.

Who knows what they will do. If the Two Voices tour was any indication, then she will sing on a few of his songs and they will duet and then cover a song. Who knows though. I can't make it to any of the shows, but I look forward to the boots. AND - thank goodness it is in the Northeast as our fav. bootlegger lives there!!!!!!!!!

As an aside - this is a Petty tour and she is doing a guest spot. So, I think she will do maybe three songs. But and again, this is all speculation and I am frenzied with anticipation!

I'm really surprised she is doing these early dates. Awesome. I don't think I can resist going to Charlotte since it is close to me and the opening night. Insider would indeed be incredible, but at least we know they'll do SDMHA, and I've never seen Petty do it, so...cool enough for me.

^ Yes, he does change it up quite a bit. Last year was kind of a "greatest hits" type thing with only 1 or 2 new tunes, if I recall. I know he did NOT do Don't Come Around Here No More last year in Buffalo.

I noticed Stevie was a surprise guest at 5 shows in 1981. How do we not have bootlegs of these?!?! Although, also noted that no mention is made of Stevie's appearances on later tours, and I have the Phoenix show from 85 on audio where they did I Need To Know, SDMHA & Not Fade Away.

My big dilemma now is to hopefully be able to switch my night as back-up for my second job. If not I better pray that the person who I am I back-up for shows up that day.

It is pure hell! Getting out of there - well, just stay in the parking lot and have a cold beverage and listen to some tunes 'cause you're gonna be there awhile! But hey, it's Stevie & I'm going! It will take me about an hour and a half to get there from home, coming home - sometime in the early am!:blob1:
