Sisters of the Moon
- written by Stevie Nicks
- appears on Tusk - Fleetwood Mac (1979); Fleetwood Mac - The Chain (1992)
- released as a single; b-side Walk A Thin Line (U.S. May 1980)

Lyrics

Intense silence
As she walked in the room
Her black robes trailing
Sister of the moon
And a black widow spider makes
More sound than she
And black moons in those eyes of hers
Made more sense to me
Heavy persuasion
It was hard to breathe
She was dark at the top of the stairs
And she called to me

And so I followed
As friends often do
I cared not for love, nor money
I think she knew
The people, they love her
And still they are the most cruel

She asked me
Be my sister, sister of the moon
Some call her sister of the moon
Some say illusions are her game
Wrap her in velvet
Does anyone, ah, know her name

So we make our choices
When there is no choice
And we listen to their voices
Ignoring our own voice

Hey Rhiannon LOL http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/biggrin.gif
How's it going???Well I just had to say that this is one of my fav songs on the "Tusk" album. How can anyone resist those edgy vocals and that killer guitar in the background right???
When I first listened to it my jaw dropped because of that dark, outlandish, constant rhythm booming in the backround too.I had to listen to it another two times in a row in order to be happy. It's just the coolest song http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/tongue.gif
It wasn't till I saw the live version on the "Tusk Documentary" that I had understood why those lyrics weren't possible to listen too unpurpose on the record-it's kind of like "Rhiannon" almost like an improb piece. Her live songs and her songs on record for the most part are two totally different things and on this song it shows that.So if you go to the concert besides from just seeing them live you get the extra little surprises and treats rewarding you for paying another 100+ dollars to see them http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/wink.gif
That and those lyrics are based upon her audience and I'm sure the record company or someone would be paranoid by those lines being hearable because she "would lose fans".How come everyone reads so much into everything....it's so dumb,it's a great song.So Lindsey just plugged in that guitar and drownded her out-case closed. Now thinking about it I don't think the song would sound right if I was able to hear those lyrics at the end,on the record anyways.... http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Basically the song is about how the most famous person can be the most loneliest-proven time and again. It doesn't matter how clich'e it is because the principal is timeless and no one else can summerize it in a more creative way then her, that's for damn sure http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/eek.gif
And I can't go without mentioning the best performance of this song "Mirage Tour" when Lindsey was leaning on her toward the end http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/redface.gif Still,it must go and it should go without saying,BUT the best performance of this song CAN NOT beat out a midiocre version of "Rhiannon"-just not possible, that's her TRADEMARK song....

"all the same, yeah, all the same, yeah, all the same, yeah, TAKE ME WITH YOU TO THE SKYYYYY, DREAMER..."~S.N. "Rhiannon" live

"IT'S YOU,IT'S YOU,IT'S YOUUUUUUUUUUU....oH oh ohhhhhhhhhhh..."~S.N. "SOTM" live

"would you be my,would you be my,would you be my....???"~S.N. "SOTM" live

I think that Sisters of the Moon is a great song. I love the lyrics. I think it is dark and intense. As you listen to the haunting lyrics, you could almost see what is happening in your head.

I especially loved watching her perform this song on the Tusk Documentary. It takes on a whole new meaning once you see her performing it. She gets really into it...like it almost takes over her.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy someone finally said something about this awesome song!!!

Michelle~

I think we can safely say IT DOES "take over her" http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/rolleyes.gif http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/eek.gif http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/tongue.gifThat's the only way to sing though, well as far as I'm concerned http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/smile.gifI mean why would you sing a song if you weren't loving every minute of doing it http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/confused.gifYeah the "Tusk" performance was good...still can't beat the one on "Mirage"(in my opinion) though http://216.74.103.91/penguin/ledge/ubb/redface.gif *sigh* SnL during that song were just to cute for words....
I don't think it takes her over as much as "Rhiannon" does though because SHE BECOMES RHIANNON when she sings that. But it doesn't matter what song she sings because---->

"back then she didn't halfcook anything, her performances were like exorsisms..."~M.F.

"intense silence as she walked into the room..her black robes trailing sister of the moon..."~S.N.
