I'll bet Stevie is watching the Derby on Sat. since she's the proud owner of a horse now. Didn't she say she just loves horse racing now since Australia?

I think Stevie has had an affinity for horses long before she was in Melbourne this year. If not for just a natural love of the animal and racing, I do believe she thinks that horses are an essential part of her magical, fairy tale world. I recall an instance where she attempted to ride a horse during one of her video shoots (Stand Back maybe) and the horse bolted and nearly threw her.

I dug up some "interesting" articles from ten years ago on Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac and The Derby:

April 16, '96 Lexington-Courier Journal:

"STARS OVER THE DERBY - A Fleetwood mac reunion will top a stellar Derby celebrity lineup
This year Patricia Barnstable Brown's sold out party promises to be the place to be in Louisville on May 3, Derby Eve. Her "A" list of celebrities gets an A-plus this year for featuring a true harmonic convergence - a reunion of the original Fleetwood Mac.

Band members Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie, and Christine McVie - who haven't recorded together since 1987 - will reunite, right there in Barnstable Brown's Highlands home.

And right in front of Mr. American Bandstand himself, Dick Clark.

Says Barnstable Brown, "I'm going to give Dick Clark the microphone and say, Take over!"

Also confirmed for the Derby Eve Celebrity Gala, a benefit for the American Diabetes Association, will be rocker Steve Winwood, country star George Strait and Wonder Woman Lynda Carter and her husband, attorney Robert Altman.

May 4, '96 Lexington Herald Leader:

"With the approach of the 20th anniversary of Fleetwood Mac's Rumors album, there's a good chance the band will reunite, said Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie yesterday as they watched the Kentucky Oaks. "I'd love it," Fleetwood said. Fleetwood said that he, Stevie Nicks, John and Christine McVie, and Lindsey Buckingham were helping each other on projects. Fleetwood is working with Buckingham on a solo album, and Nicks and Christine McVie are doing the soundtrack for Steven Spielberg's movie Twister.(edit....WHAT?!)
"We're easing into things slowly," Christine McVie said. Everyone except Buckingham reunited on stage at Patricia Barnstable-Brown's Derby Eve Celebrity Gala. Fleetwood said the public perceives Buckingham and the group that performed last night as the original Fleetwood Mac, even though Fleetwood said he and MicVie started playing together in 1967.

May 6, '96 Chicago Tribune:

"Christine and John McVie were at Patricia Barnstable Brown's party, but didn't take the stage when Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks sang. Official explanation: They were spooked by the thunderstorms occurring at the same time."

And we all know what happened the following year!!!

I doubt Stevie's horse is anywhere near Derby or stakes levels. I say that because big time horse racing usually takes a serious and full time operation. Derby quality horses can cost over a million dollars as a foal. I don't see Stevie making that kind of commitment.

Does anyone know the horse's name? You can look up his record at the DRF website.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear that Stevie was at Churchill Downs for the Derby yesterday.
