Hi, I'm updating the credits on some SN albums in the new Penguin discog & I noticed this in double checking the liner notes to BD & TWH:

Hands by: Kathryn Greenbaum (on "The Wild Heart") &...

Hands by: Kathryn Greenbalm (on "Bella Donna")

Can anyone here verify if this is in fact the same person & if so, which spelling/name she goes by more often? I'd be very surprised if this were 2 people & I want to make sure all the people link up correctly in the new format & keeping these as separate people in the database doesn't really make sense, unless of course they ARE 2 diff people.

Naturally you'll receive full credit in the discog if you can verify this here.

Thanks in advance. :)

John

I can't believe that she'd actually credit her manicurist. (Whomever it may be...Greenbaum or Greenbalm. I'm guessing it's the same person since Greenbaum and Greenbalm can be easily mistaken. I can see it now..."Oh Kathy, my hands are beautiful. What is your last name, I'd like to thank you on my album." "It's Greenbaum"..."Oh Good...Greenbalm"... Album comes out...ring...ring.."Hello Stevie? This is Kathy. Just wanted to let you know that my name isn't Greenbalm it's Greenbaum...G..r..e..e..n..b..a.u..m. Thank you"..."Oh Dear...I'll put your correct name on my next album. Thanks, Kathy and sorry!")

Unfortunately, I don't have a definitive answer for you, John. I imagine they're the same person, and that her name is misspelled on one of the albums (probably 'Bella Donna'). I have to say though, that I think it's funny you bring this up right now, because David just mentioned the "hands by" credit a few weeks back, and until he brought it up, I had completely forgotten about it.

I do think that K.G. is probably a manicurist.

OK thanks anyways guys. Yeah, I'll probably just use the Greenbaum one & note the "AKA ...balm" to try to merge as many as possible. :)

I can't remember what album, could have been the Wild Heart, but in one or two of them Stevie's credited with 'hand tinting'.

What in God's name is hand tinting?!

What in God's name is hand tinting?!"Hand tinting" is a process where you use oil paints (or watercolors, or oil pencils) to tint a black & white photograph. It first came into practice back in "the olden days," before color film. These days, it's done to give an old fashioned look to photographs, or to achieve a certain "feel."

I actually did hand-tinting work for a local photographer for a while, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Off the top of my head, there are examples of Stevie's hand-tinting work on the back cover and the two inside photographs for 'The Wild Heart,' the back cover of 'Rock A Little,' the large photograph of Stevie on the inside sleeve of 'The Other Side Of The Mirror' (on the LP only -- it's reprinted in black & white in the CD liner notes), as well as the front covers of the 'Wild Heart,' 'Rock A Little,' 'TSOTM' and 'Timespace/Whole Lotta Trouble' tourbooks.

And in the Room's On Fire video - she's sitting at the table in the house with portraits of herself - colouring her photos.

It's just a series of still photos put together... I think the other woman is Mary something or other... But she's dressed identical as Stevie - top to bottom.
