Hey Everyone!!
Once again it's time to ask for volunteers to be lyric interpretation moderators!
Interpretations have been going great this month with Silver Springs and I'd love that same enthusiasm to continue in the upcoming months!
If there is anyone even half-way willing to be moderator PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get ahold of me at one of the addresses below.

Hey Stewy,LOL
Well before I even attempt to do this(which is still a decision waying on my mind)Can you please just explain as to what the duties of Moderator are a little bit.Is their only reponsibility typing the lyrics up?Actually there is more to it then that isn't there? :confused:Well whatever you need help with because I'd like to see more interpretations then there is.
I just don't believe it I mean 29 posts is a good turn out BUT I hate to burst your bubble :( when I tell you that most of that was Michelle and I talking about the last show in Landover(which I was happy enough to hook her up with :)Do I still get to put my input if I do this???You think that there would be this HUGE turnout for "Silver Springs" because it is a CLASSIC DAMNIT,but no not that many actually "interpreted" it
Why wouldn't people want to interpret the lyrics of our fav band I mean isn't that the funniest part if not a DUTY of being a fan :p
I even went to the Stevie board and made a topic called "GET YOUR @$$ TO THE INTERPRETATION BOARD" and still no one came! :eek:So yeah I would LOVE TO HELP but post me back and tell me what the deal is k!
LOL

Alex-
yeah the amount of posts for Silver Springs is a bit deceiving, and it will be a tricky thing to work through to figure out exactly who said WHAT about Silver Springs...and what was just chatter. The moderator of a song writes the final interpretation. If you go into the lyric interps archives, the name of the moderator for every song is bolded among the list of "contributors."
In terms of still being able to put in your own two cents, of course you can, the ultimate power of what the song is about comes down to the moderator. If I wanted to write the final interp for SS as being all about...i don't know, stevie's perception of chris and john, i could (okay maybe Marty would have some problems with that one and Stewy too...so maybe I should shy away from that tactic...damn it! ;) )But you get the point. It's better if you include everyone's thoughts and cover all aspects of a song instead of tossing out someone's interp b/c you don't agree with it. People like it better if they can sense their thoughts in the final. But at the same time, try to take a somewhat firm stand on what the song is about overall...makes it more convincing that way. Go look at "The Second Time" (yay one of mine!) and "Just Crazy Love" (I think...no I think I mean "Hollywood Some Other Kind of Town") and you'll see examples of taking a song through two aspects throughout the whole interp.
Doing final interps is fun, a bit of work but not bad (stay away from the damn album interpretations though....lots more work there!) but its hard when you get little to no responses...I've seen some where there was like one response. BUT in the OLD OLD days (like when I first came to the ledge) people would get seriously like 20 responses to a song. And imo that would be almost TOO many. We used to be able to do two interpretations A WEEK...and then every two weeks..and then two a month...and now we're down to one a month....sad sad stuff...but i think it's because the fave songs have all been done...so now we're redoing them!! Yippee!
okay long response that didn't say much...ah well...

I would love to moderate a lyric interpretation or two. What songs are you putting up next month that are available?
May I ask a question, though? I talked about this with Becky (who literally lives next door to me...we wound up at the same college and didn't even know it till weeks into the semester. How strange is that?), but why exactly are you doing these songs again? Just to get a fresher, different perspective? Will the old ones still stay up? I did 3 songs off of the wild heart album and one from rock a little, and would be somewhat upset to see them go down.

Ok everyone!! Sorry I didn't get to my messages yesterday - had a HUGE bunch of meetings yesterday, got back late and just CRASHED...
Alex, Becky is absolutely right on with her explaination of how to go about being the moderator and writing the final combined interpretation of a song. It's all about how YOU like to write - your particular style of writing or the directions that you follow, how much depth to put into it, how it's all arranged. The only thing that is asked of the moderator is to either use the wording/thoughts/ideas of the interpretations that everyone has done or the essense of them in the final interpretation. Noone wants to write their thoughts and then have them ignored in a final interp, thought that is up to the moderator to decide what will and won't be in it in the end.
I know this sounds extremely complex, but it's not. If you read a few interps you can see that there is a lot of " this could mean this or that" or "this song is about him/her/other". That's what it's all about. Just about everyone agrees(since Stevie has said this) that SS is about Lindsey, but the question is what meaning do the lyrics have reagarding their relationship - and people often disagree with that.
Rhiannon - the fresh approach is exactly why we are allowing these songs to be redone. When most of the "bigger" songs like SS were done, everyone was still basking in the light of the Dance tour and there were plenty of hopeless romantics out there to stoke the fires and endlessly debate each little line of a song. Now some people would like to go back and take another look at a lot of these songs, add in their feelings and see not only how the opinion differ, but how they are looked at with a different frame of mind. It also is a great thing because there are many people new to the Ledges that misses the most popular songs and can now take a crack at doing interps. in them.
As far as what songs are available - ALL are available!! I'd say that it's logical to exclude Ooh My Love and SS since they have just been done, but anything else is fair game!!!
Still interested? Please say yes!!

Ok am "thinking" about doing one again - not sure what I am getting myself into!
How about "Storms"? I never did that one and would love it. Or "Nightbird"?
If you get no other volunteers I'll do it, how's that? :-)

Hey Lauren!! I thought you'd never ask!!
I was psyching myself to having to do one, but you've saving me - at least until next month!!
Anyway, whichever you chose will be great!
Soon, Josh should be posting the first final...maybe that will help get more people into this.
Hope you are well...

Stewy--
Thanks for your explanation. I must admit I probably was one of those hopeless romantics too! I think my saving grace was to compulsively quote and paraphrase contributors...and external sources. I was under the influence of existentialism when i wrote those interpretations.
I would love to do Sisters of the Moon if that's possible. That song has always been so intense to me and I remember not being quite happy with the very logical/rational (not that that is bad) interpretation for it. Let me know if that's ok. And is Becky still working on Beauty and the Beast? I need to talk to her. We were planning to do it together, but I'm not quite sure what happened.
Thanks.

Hi Rhiannon...
That's great that you want to do Sisters. Yo want to do it this month along with Lauren's 'Storms' and have a little Tusk session, or save it for December? S'up to you....just tell me either way.
Becky should be in the process of writing the Silver Springs interp now (I figure she's just about done by now :D. If you 2 want to get together to do Beauty and the Beast then that would be great. Just say the word.
