There is an asteroid -- #16912 -- that is named Rhiannon!!
http://newton.dm.unipi.it/cgi-bin/neodys/neoibo?objects:Rhiannon;main
This asteroid is 1.79 astronomic units (AUs) from the sun. (An astronomical unit is the distance in miles from the Sun to the Earth = 93 million miles.)
Additional physical data on Rhiannon the asteroid can be found here:
http://earn.dlr.de/nea/016912.htm
It was discovered March 2, 1998. It's classified as a Mars-crosser asteroid; that is, its orbit crosses that of Mars.

Why? If it did, it would be the Chiffonhead version of the Rapture. The Apoca-Nicks, if you will.
We could all get together, have a big party, and twirl into oblivion together while singing "Planets of the Universe" at the top of our lungs:
"You and I will simply disappear, out of sight..."

Too funny. I like how you think.
Yeah that asteroid takes to the sky like a fine skylark.

More, please.
I think we should start planning the party. I propose the following date for us all to be "taken by the sky": September 16, 2012 (from "Rhiannon's" classification number).
And, isn't declaring our own end-times the last step in establishing the official Church of Stevie? Since fans of a certain "other" band member already think we're a cult and all...
Who wants to start the tax-exempt paperwork? Calling strandinthewind...

I'm not sure what you mean, but I'm going with the 5:26 (i.e. 5/26) omen theory regardless.
That's really the point of made-up religions anyway, right?

That's the funny thing about those timezone settings - it's different depending on where you're posting from. But, rest assured it said 5:26 on my PC (US Central time), and it will show as 5:26 am to east Asian Ledgies (if there are any) in their corresponding zone.
Regardless, glad you went with it. YAY! Another convert! What are you bringing to the ApocaNicks party? I think we still need some type of tasty dip, plus no one has signed up for paper plates yet... :D

False alarm, folks. I think this particular asteroid is the size of a nickel in diameter.
If it ever entered the Earth's atmosphere, it would burn right up before hitting ground.

On the second link you posted, it says:
Diameter: 0.7 - 1.5 km
Is that not describing the asteroid at its widest point? Or is that related to some other physical characteristic? I'm really not sure how to read those tables - especially the first page - wow.
Bottom line - should I start mixing the Jello shots or not? I only have 6 years to make enough for everyone...
