I've noticed 2 things recently: Stevie has a mole or something next to her right nostril and I think she has somewhat hairy arms, or at least did.

I'm a "you know" person too.

Let's see- let me think of something I've noticed about Stevie. (not confused, just thinking) Sometimes, I think her nose looks a little big, but then in other pictures, I think her features are perfect.

She has a unique way of pronouncing the letter "H". This is long before the coke drilled a new hole in her nose. Her "H's" seem to start in the back of her throat with the movement of her tongue hitting her palate, rather than her throat just relaxing and letting out the letter "H". For instance when she sings..."I Have..." there is a phlemmy kind of sound she makes.

HMMmmm - I could go on and on...

Here's what comes to mind first -

1.) She has a pretty remarkable ablility to not get too dizzy after twirling in "Stand Back" - for example I heard she did 19 full-throttle spins in a row during one of the Las Vegas shows. I think she LOVES this and that it's way, way harder than it looks. Along those lines -

2.) She's MUCH tougher than many people think. Not just mentally, but "physically." Granted she hasn't been that way every single second of every single day over the years, but - I think the twirling thing shows that very well. YES she's dizzy - but she doesn't CARE. YES she was losing it a little and getting tired during Stand Back in "Live in Boston" - but she didn't CARE, she took it to the limit ANY-way - her attitude is, "If it hurts, it hurts - I'll take an aspirin later." And along THOSE lines -

3.) It's TOTALLY about Fleetwood Mac, now - unless it's totally about her fans, or herself. Even she herself is not really sure which comes first, sometimes, and she'll NEVER figure it out.

4.) She kinda-sorta seems to like BOOTS!

5.) She's actually kinda-sorta "political" without rubbing it in people's faces. She says her political opinions in between her lines. ( I know - duh! )

6.) She uhmmm - gets these "memory glitches" from time to time...

7.) If it were possible, she'd have a mansion on Mars - just 'cause it would be Fabulous.

8.) She's not "ready for her close-up" - but she's making long-term plans to be.

9.) She reads a LOT.

10.) When she finds something that works, she sticks to it, without really changing much. GDW, Stand Back, you name it, we got it on the tour. Another example is her total, 100% reliance on Sulamith Wulfing's influence in her artwork. I personally think she underestimates her talent as an artist (paintings, drawings, etc.) and that it would be great if she "branched out" from S.W. and so -

11.) She's not actually all THAT much of a risk-taker.

Anyway those are my best guesses, personally. I think at least the "reading a lot" thing is probably true, for example she mentioned in "Ask Stevie" on Nicksfix that she read Wheel of Fortune, which is a REALLY long book. Oh YEAH and -

12.) She's pretty insistent that we THOUGHT we saw something... in her eyes. And she's perfectly happy with us thinking that, in fact, it THRILLS her. She LOOOOVVVVVVVVVVESSSS attention, always has, always will. :)

13.) She kinda-sorta loves nature just a whole lot but don't expect to see her at Morsan's buying a tent and Coleman's stove any time soon...

14.) She was using a new kind of make-up during the "Gold Dust Tour," especially during the first part of the tour, I think. This caused her to have a certain . . . "Glow" about her face, much of the time. I'm not sure but I think this might have been something her BAND suggested she do, or at least somehow RELATED to her band! ;)

Sound about right? :)

-She used to bite her bottom lip all the time but I haven't seen her do it very much since the early 80's. It was so cute. I wish she still did it.

-She points a lot, especially during performances (didn't her mother teach her pointing in rude?).

-She has a TON of hair, even without extensions.

-She rambles incessantly.

-She giggles like a little girl.

-She's fidgety and has a hard time sitting still.

-If you've ever met her or shook her hand during the Edge walk she makes amazingly intense eye contact and makes you feel like you're the only person in the world.

-She's 57 years old, has been through a ****load of hard times and seen the very dark side of life but still maintains a certain child-like innocense.

-This might just be me but she has large forearms for someone with such a small frame.

-She's been wearing her eye-make up the same way for years now (with that dark shadow on the crease).

-Recently her nails are always red or french manicure.

She loves to make up her own words and phrases. Shangrilalian, mass of exploding timbers, blissed out, etc.

She also says pronounces certain words in her own way i.e. drownded instead of drowning.

Haha, yes. I know there's another really good example of this but I can't think of what it is right now. Along those lines, her metaphors and figures of speech sometimes come out a little mixed, too. But I don't know if they are malopropisms of sorts, or if she does it purposely. Like, "flash of an eye" instead of "blink of an eye" in Love Changes. Could be an intentional change just to make it sound a little different. But "windows, like the eyes to the soul" (as opposed to "eyes, like the windows of/to the soul") in My Heart has to be a blunder. Oh well... she knows what she means, I know what she means, it's all good.

Also, she has a deep, hearty cackle when she laughs. John alluded to this when he said "she has the dirtiest laugh of any woman I know" in one of his Q&A answers. I love it.

I was about to write the same thing. However, not *exactly* like a ballerina, but if you notice, she does do the "spot" thing you're supposed to do during turns in ballet (you fix your eyes to a certain a place and then you turn and the last thing that turns is your head. When you come back, your eyes should be fixed to the same place they were before you started turning. Spotting is supposed to eliminate the "dizzy" thing and to enhance your balance).

On the subject, I have noticed that sometimes she pronounces the "n" as if she had a cold. Maybe it's just me, but I think it is very obvious in "Dreams", the original Rumours version.

SapphireSister
03-20-2006, 04:28 PM

I like the little dance she does when her arms are down by her thighs and she sways her hips from side to side while alternating her weight on either foot. I'm sure you guys know the move I'm talking about. It's her basic little step. Sometimes she even does it with the tambo but she always does it. 2.) Stevie's grammar is absolutely 100% perfect every time. Because she has "Poetic License." Besides, they are the MAKERS of rules!

3.) Stevie doesn't shift "her weight" around on the stage while dancing. She floats by on a cloud-like efferevescence of formidibly earth-shattering-to-die-for beauty whilst unicorns drift by on their way home to her castles in the sky...

Let's just hope she keeps up with the shaving and/or waxing although I think at a certain age the hair doesn't grow as much in certain places? My mom is 54 and doesn't need to shave her legs anymore because the hair no longer grows there.

Where is the arm hair? I don't see it. In fact, when I was watching an 05 DVD i was going to say that I thought she barely has any.

She always makes googly eyes at Lindsey while he's playing or singing, but he doesn't seem to do it back to her as much.

She does the "frozen face" look in pictures because the wrinkles don't show! Smile, and all the lines around the eyes and mouth suddenly appear. Plus I love that pout.

I love her articulation. I'd like to be able to speak that way without always using contractions. That said, she does say some things differently, like for today: "too-day" instead of "ta-day." Or for July: "joo-ly" instead of "juh-ly."

She's very serious in interviews. From the ones I've seen on TV or the PC, she doesn't smile that much and is very intense.

Oh, and gotta give a shout-out to this one:

i love thee stevie, with hair like silk,
lips like cherries, skin like milk,
your shell-like ears, your dainty hands,
and eyes so black, like frying pans

Is this from The Flintstones, per chance?

Blissed out is watching Stevie perform Gypsy live in your 75 million dollar mansion while sipping pina coladas after getting caught in the rain. Hey, I can dream! :p

Ya know, I thought I was the only one who noticed this..It's especially prominent in the Dance version of "Gypsy" she says "have" almost like with a G instead of H.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Perfect example!:) The "I Ghave no fear".....part really shows it.

It's very sweet, actually. I'm not ranking on it at all - it's a very Stevie-esque inflection and it adds to the juicyness of her songs. I just wonder if there is a bit of a septum problem. She has such a gorgeous, delicate nose (I always despaired that she would damage it with crap like cocaine), so perhaps there is a malformation in her nasal passages that produces her beautiful sound, but makes it hard for her to get her throat around her "h's"? I don't know...I'm only 'speculatin'.

Also, she talks about cats a lot for someone who is such a big dog lover (and has 2 of them) but then again "she is like a dog in the dark" doesn't have quite the same affect.

I posted before about the lip biting. In the early FM days she bit the lip frequently. She seems to have stopped this for the most part after going solo. On the 1982 HBO video she did this only a couple of times. I think you are right...she was told to stop doing it on stage

I believe this was mentioned upthread. That Stevie might possibly be a bitch at times. I have to say - I have never heard of her being a bitch, I've never seen her be nasty. In fact, she sounds like she's one of the nicest people one coudl meet; however, there is an MTV interview she did back in the mid-80's (I believe), where the interviewer is asking her questions, and she has this vibe that she wants to move this along...like she's really fed up. And I will say, that is the only time I've seen her be a little bitchy. I had a feeling that something happened before the interview that put her in a bad mood. She was very cordial, professional, etc...but she was very pissed off. Hell, she's only human. Anyway - I saw it on youtube.com.

I know this may be shocking to some people but guess what - EVERY PERSON IN THIS WORLD can be bitchy at times, doesn't make you a "bitch". I have to say for someone in Stevie's shoes I've seen her act bitchy very infrequently and a lot of people who are in the public eye as much as she is are much bitchier. I think she has a really sweet nature and I'm surprised she's not a bitch more often considering how annoying fans and interviewers can be! She is a very gracious and classy lady and if she has been bitchy before (which I'm sure she has) she was most likely having a moment and like Boots said she's only human and that doesn't make her a bitch.

Also, I feel confident being under the influence of drugs made her have quite a bit of mood swings back in the day (stories have surfaced about her firing people, having outbursts, etc) but in general I think she is a really sweet person.

Oh no - Stevie has beautiful, well-cared-for hands. My pinkies creep me out, not hers. I hadn't noticed the earlobes, but I will look out for them. Can she fly, like Dumbo?
Yes, she can. I have never seen bigger ones, and you know, I've seen a lot of people. And my aunt has really big ones, and Stevie's are bigger.
Although I may be prej, cause my mom and dad and me have supa small cutie earlobes. But I don't think prejudice is at work here. Did you not notice that she never wears her hair up, despite a nice feminine jawline and big eyes? Yeah, exactly.

So, do you have those really skinny long fingers with the pinky curve?
slightly creepy, but still looks better for pinky rings. I can't wear a pinky ring to save my life. They totally jut out opposite direction.
Like this - here is my hand (without pinky): \\\\ <==
okay?
Here is my pinky: / <===
so you see, in combination, it looks like this: \\\\ / !

And Stevie does have pretty hands, and so do I, and you probably do, too.

It isn't important (obviously) but the graphic is supposed to show that the pinky is straight, until that last part, and then it detour in, rather than the curve from beginning to end.

k, this is probably obvious but I don't think it's ever actually been mentioned -

Stevie doesn't like classical music or jazz too much...

Does that sound right? After all, she's NEVER mentioned listening to either one, at least not that I've noticed. I don't think she's ever mentioned heavy metal, either.

Stevie mentioned listening to fusion Jazz while doing her treadmill in the middle of the night. She said she listens to the satellite music channel and she def. mentioned jazz. As a ballerina, I would bet money she enjoys classical music as well but I don't know if she has ever said so. Heavy metal...I kinda doubt.

As a ballerina, I would bet money she enjoys classical music as well but I don't know if she has ever said so.I wouldn't call Stevie Nicks a ballerina. Why do you call her a ballerina? Or did you mean you are a ballerina? Stevie might listen to classical music, but the only thing she ever mentioned practicing ballet to was Tom Petty's "You're Gonna Get It." This was a long time ago, though. I mean, let's face it ... everybody has heard some classical music & some jazz at some point in life. You'd have to live in a hole or on Mars not to have done so. But I doubt her CD collection is filled with late Coltrane, Mingus or Monk ... or Bartok string quartets, for that matter.

OMG...you crack me up. She did say she liked listening to Jazz specifically though......lol.

She built that entire room around the wooden ballet bar that the fan carved. One might assume she practiced ballet in that room, no? (she even said she practiced to cassettes of Lindsey playing his guitar.....swoon) I love the Tusk Doc shots of her in ballet class... she looks very sexy in her leg warmers, little pink ballerina shoes and black body suit. I would still bet she enjoys some classical.....although I agree, her CD collection is probably not overflowing with that genre. : > )
So what about heavy metal, does she like that?

Well, she describes herself as that - "rock and roll ballerina - where else would she go" - etc. Also, she clearly and by her own admission has studied ballet, there is video footage of it (Tusk doc, IAF video, etc. )

So, she could be considered a ballerina as that term is defined, to wit "a woman who is a ballet dancer" http://merriamwebster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary -- but she certainly is no great one if that is what you meant.

Yeah, I wasn't really faulting her - maybe she didn't notice it. In any case, if you are wearing leather and are sitting on sheepskin (I have done both) I guess you aren't more horrible if you have the head nearby.
When I first saw it, I decided that since the mag is Australian, and since sheep industry is big in Australia, that it was somehow related to that. (if she had been featured in a Napa mag, while touring No Calif, I might have expected her to be surrounded by grape fields or something.
And, I love her outfit in this photo, as I have said before - but sheephead was the little thing I noticed...

There's a really good one in the Stand Back video on the treadmill. Stevie is stomping away with her wings flapping and then the close-up of her appears. When the full-body shot is blended with the close-up you get a REALLY CREEPY death skull double-exposure that you can see clearly when you slow mo the action or just hit pause. ghost...i could give a rats ass
what msnicks cares to have
in her home...as long as she
is safe and happy with it...
this however is clearly not
a fake or real 'sheeps' head :wavey:

Is there a "rat's ass" in the picture? Maybe in the folds of fur?

I've noticed 2 things recently: Stevie has a mole or something next to her right nostril and I think she has somewhat hairy arms, or at least did.
I was watching the Bella Donna concert last night and i noticed the mole too, only back then it was a little smaller than now. But it seems she's had it all her life and it never bothered her.Or at least not enough to have it removed.
I know i would have
Suzy

And when I zoom way way out, she appears not to be in her bedroom at all, but on an asteroid (B-612) with a specially tended rose, and a preponderance of baobobs.
The sheep was intended to eat the baobobs.

Stevie fidgets...all the time

Stevie often has "limp wrist" syndrome during photoshoots during the Bella Donna time period.

She has the most fabulous pout of anyone...EVAH. that bitch has it down to an art.

Her eyebrows do bug me sometimes.

has anyone noticed that in many photos from around the Bella Donna period Stevie has a hairband around her wrist? now, why? couldn't someone remove it before the photoshoot or something?

Do you have a snapshop you can post?
Perhaps it provided some sort of comfort, or maybe it was her very own chewtoy.

Awww...that is just precious...Stevie's hairbands. I have no doubt peeps will chime in on why they are there ("she snapped her wrist to keep awake...blah blah.") I am not sure why they didn't remove it for the shoot. I would have to say, in a way, it reflects against the work of person who took the photograph. Then again, perhaps they wanted a natural "as-is" Stevie. Good eye Jazzy...I didn't notice!

That gap between her middle teeth that seems to appear and disappear in every photo taken of her between 1975 and 1983.

I mean, what's the deal with that?

Totally, as in "you'll never get Ay-way!" instead of uh-way.

I love this thread--I've been away for a awhile and am just catching up with all of you.

I particularly love the way she draws out her e's while singing. I can't think of a good example right now, but I know it when I hear it. she is just so endearing:angel:

It's because a closed vowel is easier to sing.

I missed out on this thread the first time. Just finished reading through it.

You guys crack me up. Mole beside nose. Hairy arms and sideburns. Bad grammar. Crooked teeth..etc. LOL. Pretty entertaining thread if I do say so myself.

And about that lip thing. She still does it occasionally. She did it at the Rosemont show in Chicago a few weeks ago. I forget which song it was during though. Might have been Sara?... I think it's a nervous thing she does.

If you've ever met her or shook her hand during the Edge walk she makes amazingly intense eye contact and makes you feel like you're the only person in the world.

she really does. time like stops for a few seconds once she gets to you. she held both my hands and just stared with this all knowing look with this nice sorta smile on her face.
