I have to admit to laughing my ass of at part six. She just wants to get the hell out of there! See the look she gives when they ask her do the promos?
*sideways glance*
"oookay..."
She's just so sarcastic during that part, I can't help but crack up. That aside... The rest of it is just.... :\

She thinks 1986 to 1991 is seven years.
No, dear- 1986 to 1994 is eight years. It was eight years of her life that was lost to Klonopin.

This is from 1991 right? She said she had been sober for seven years in 1991.
Ohhh, yeah- that's what you were referring to. Yeah, I noticed that as well. I thought- Honey you ain't been sober for seven years.
Sorry, BoBo.....:o

Its weird it was the worst part of her life but my favorite song came from that time. :woohoo:
I just don't understand how Stevie got bogged down on Klonopin for eight years! Certainly after the first year she should have realized there was an addiction problem and where where her doctors? Were they prescribing this for eight years? Why would she wait eight years to get treatment?
IMO, when she realized she couldn't do cocaine anymore she was devastated...it was such a major part of her life. Perhaps Klonopin eased the mental pain.
Does anybody know someone that has taken Klonopin?

One minute she's happy the next, slightly hostile. There's that familiar listlessness in her voice that I remember from that period. Thank god she made it.

I do and have taken it myself a few times. It never zonked me the way she says and it didn't seem addictive, but I know that it is - then again, I didn't and don't take it every day...

it was interesting to see her dead gaze turn into a huge smile and bright eyes when she was doing the promo spots
she may be able to turn all your music on but she can also turn on the charm...

Thanks for this. I've read reports Stevie was popping 8 pills a day. I don't know what an appropriate dosage is...but 8 seem excessive.
You say you have taken Klonopin...what's the effect, if any...tired, lithargic?

ok, if ole girl was taking 8, yeah I can see it - I'm surprised she isn't dead
I started taking half a pill just to calm nerves and progressed to a full pill. I didn't feel lethargic or tired, I felt really, really relaxed. I would compare the feeling to taking a good 250 mg muscle relaxer. Speaking of which...;)

This seems to be a common statement about our dear Stevie Nicks..."I'm surprised she isn't dead". Ms. Nicks is lucky to be alive. She has said so herself. Stevie seriously abused heavy narcotics for 18 years...plus alcohol and smoking!
Any of these things can be handled in moderation, not that I condone it...but in Stevie's case...it's full blown addiction.

Thank you for bringing my attention to this. I've only watched part one (because South Park is on) and my impression is that although her eyes are incredibly flat, her words make sense, her attitude seems to be just the attitude I would expect her to have at that point in her life.
She's kind of disillusioned about people, some probably took advantage of her and now she sings things clearly because she's relatively sober, she's older, she's probably feeling her age a bit, people keep asking her the same questions over and over, her last couple albums sold fewer, (I think she was probably proud of OSOTM, too - she should be) and didn't she get a little skewered for RAL?
I would probably be just as irritated. Hell, I was just as irritated this afternoon for way fewer reasons.
And I've certainly been that bored before.
But *so far* she is expressing herself well and clearly, and saying a few insightful things - I like her opinion about paying a lot of money for things that belonged to other people.
even though she's lying or mistaken about a few dates...I would probably do that too....
I can't wait to see the rest.

Yea, she doesn't seem THAT dazed. I mean yea, she's a bit out of it, but real snotty IMO. I know I have seen this and You-Tube is real selective about what it runs all of and doesn't. Atleast for me. Sure I have high speed interent, but paying my monthly bill punctually doesn't ensure me top notch service.
Might I add, weren't we talking bout her wearing gawd awful stuff on occasion? I hate that dress/coat combo. Blech!

Ugh, she has that dead look in her eyes, which is something I guess I've had until recently, according to my nurse practitioner. I've been taking Klonopin daily (1-3 mg. depending on how bad the anxiety is) for about 4 years, and she is just now weaning me off of it because my mind has really become dulled (memory, being able to think quickly, etc.) and also my anxiety has improved. I had a very bad day last week where I was all jitters and it felt like my body was turning to Jell-O, so she told me to come down even more slowly with just half a pill a day, and then a quarter pill. At first, Klonopin makes you tired, and then you just feel relaxed, and once you've been on it for a long time, you don't feel anything other than the absence of anxiety.
This is basically what she told me: 1 mg of Klonopin is equal to 20 mg of Valium. The doctors like to prescribe it for panic/anxiety because it stays in your system for 12 hours versus something like Xanax, which is much shorter-acting and sort of gives you a very relaxed feeling, but you "crash" sooner and can have rebound anxiety. Picture a kiddie roller coaster versus an adult one. Klonopin is like the kiddie one, with smoother dips and slopes, whereas Xanax is like the adult one, with sharper climbs and drops.
Anyway, if Stevie was taking 8 mg a day, it's amazing she was able to even give an interview. Seriously, you become so dulled that it seems as if your IQ has dropped 50 points. Interesting interview though.

that song just rules so much.
i just saw that clip for the first time last night
and that made me sad ....... because you know she DOES try to please everyone. and if they were still asking too much of her and not letting her do her shit..........that clip really showed me why/how she would develop another drug addiction.

She said all of the songs on the Mirror album were written before she got too heavily into the klonopin.
Any interview from the early ninties is sad for me to watch. I esp. hate the OSOTM int. from England where she reads the Children Go On poem. I know some people think it is so beautiful and just lovely but I hear it as a cry for help. Pretty blatantly. :distress:

Oh my gosh, if that wasn't a typical Klonopin induced stupor. I know 2 who take it regularly. One calls it her tranquilizer and uses it a lot of times purely as a sleeping pill because she 'just can't sleep'. (Of course the 10 cans of pepsi she drinks right up until bedtime has nothing to do with it....caffeine doesn't effect her.) This is an otherwise intelligent, professional woman!
The other is a more serious case, and in my opinion, proof that there were and still are Dr.'s out there that will dangerously prescribe Klonopin. She has suffered some psychiactric conditions and sees drs regularly. I feel as though she has been overmedicated for years, but the K-zone is quite typical...that look in the eyes, the slow expressions...VERY familiar. As is the ability to hold a otherwise coherant conversation....with few 'bumbles'. As drugged as they are, you'd think it would be one big slur. (I'll bet Stevie was not able to recall this interview clearly afterward...if at all.)
Now for my rant. The person I'm referring was prescribed a MASSIVE dose of Klonopin for an indefinate period with no restrictions or even a pep talk. I had the misfortune to ride in a vehicle with her for an 80 mile round trip on an interstate during which time we nearly slammed into the rear end of MANY vehicles because of slow reaction times. There were countless incidents, and I told her to call her Dr. immediately and ask him about driving because she was unsafe to herself and others on this high a dose. His response was to ask her what she thought...and if she felt safe to drive. She said yes, she thought so...but she also respected my opinion that she wasn't. He told her if she felt safe, then she was probably okay. She continued driving for another few days until she drove off into a ditch pulling out her driveway. (She couldn't react fast enough to turn the car wheel.) THank God she didn't hurt anyone.
I don't think Klonopin is probably any worse than any other drug, but it sure can be abusively used....and prescribed. (I wish that Dr had ridden in a car with her during that time.)
Kelly :) sorry for the rant

I watched the interview again and it's frightening how she sits there with her mouth hanging open and barely blinking. How she could even have a coherent thought is just amazing to me.
Klonopin is still prescribed a lot, at least here. My last shrink, instead of trying to get to the bottom of my anxiety, wanted to increase my dosage. Just what I needed. You know the weirdest thing with Klonopin? As relaxed as you are, you feel like your heart is almost beating too slowly and that can make you a little nervous at times. Especially at a higher dosage. It's all nasty stuff. :distress:
