Stevie should let others record her songs if she won't!
I think "The Dealer" and "All The Beautiful Worlds" are prime candidates.

That's interesting. I'm guessing there are some legal issues there though.

She doesn't have to sell them...just grant/sell a license for use. I've heard some of her songs sung by others so it does happen occassionally.

Hmmm would people e interested in them though? i dont know, and stevies songs are a little bizarre. I think she thinks of her songs as a part of her and she doesn't want to sell that.... unless the buyer is jewish... hehe

I never want to hear anyone else sing All The Beautiful Worlds.

I agree. The joke's not landing with me either, but then I am a little slow. Do us a favor and explain.

Because Stevie's songs are her children and you don't sell your children  No really.....she doesn't need the money........yet.

Sorry guys, i was referring to the bat mitzfer that stevie performed at... most of the ledgies were surprised that she performed there, but the had the $$ so off she went....
Does she not own the rights to Landslide? Probably Mick does, hence the massive covers.
If I ever got famous, I'd want to cover Storms, similar to the demo version on the reissues but with strings as the song built up and more harmony vocals.

This is directed towards everyone... please, in the future, be mindful about not making comments that could be construed as bigoted.
Thank you.

I imagine she thinks she still might record some of them, and for whatever reason doesn't want other people releasing their own versions before she does. We've seen her propensity in recent years for going back through her archives and recording new versions of old demos.

She let Lindsay::barf::Lohan cover Edge of Seventeen, to which Mick definitely does not own the rights of. So she has no qualms about selling her songs. But, given how she feels about demos leaking out, especially of songs that have never been released, I don't think she'd want to sell away the rights to those songs. They are hers, and if she wants the world to hear them, she will make it happen (her thinking, not mine). I don't think she'd feel comfortable having other people sing her personal songs like that.

I hope she does... imagine if someone else had done smile at you, or the tower (goodbye baby).. I was listening to these last night and thought how great smile at you sounded, i loved that is was so different and without her singing it, it wouldn't of meant much to me....

Also, how come a lot of people were cracking so many jokes and expressed how unhappy they were that Stevie performed at the bat mitzfa that really happened, yet i add a joke from that to a topic that is just for discussion and it is of such shock?

*shudder* I don't ever want to hear that name ever again ....
Is it Stevie's decision? Is it her management who decide what should be allowed to be covered?

1 - don't bring that bat mitzvah hoopla back up
2 - do you really have to ask?

I haven't heard L.Lohan version yet, i heard a snippet (30seconds) of it and thats it....
I take it that it wasn't pleasing to the Stevie trained ears?

Because most people didn't get the joke, and I imagine they thought you were taking some kind of odd non-sensical reversed jab at the stereotype of Jews being miserly.

I'd seriously question Stevie's intelligence if she didn't have control over her own songs at this point in her career.
She does, though, and she always has, at least with her solo material.

Nope not at all, wouldn't anyway... My boss and his family whom i am close with are jewish... he would be making more fun of it if he was on here... I know zero of the stereotype's on nationalities or religions so woudn't know where to start... but i have learnt that my boss isn't one... he tells me that people believe jewish people are tight with money, whereas he is the absolute opposite! So... in short, no i wasn't being bad.... :distress:

That's all I heard too .... and that alone was more than I could stomach.

I thought so too.
