Hi, can someone here please tell me the apparent SN connection to the Olivia Newton-John song "Tied Up (In Promises)"?
I saw it listed as a FM related cover on this page:
http://fleetwoodmac.net/penguin/fmcovers.htm
...but no FM member seems to have writing credits on it or anything when I check about the song at various other sites.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. :)

Stevie recorded a RAL-era demo of it.

Ah OK, so ONJ didn't really "cover HER song" then. Thanks for letting me know. :)
I also saw the Waylon Jennings and Jesse Colter "Landslide" listing. Now, I know L&L was written for them but did they ever record a version of it together like that page seems to imply?
I saw the WJ "Rhiannon" & GDW covers listed there too but I was trying to figure out the WJ&JC L&L one so any info on that one would be great and then that should be me all figured out. :)

Tied Up (In Promises) was first recorded by Olivia in 1982 for a Greatest Hits album. It was written by J. Farrar/L. Ritenour.
I have Stevie's demo of it, but the sound is not very good. Hopefully someone here has it in a better audio form, if not, I will post the one I have for you. I've heard both and I like Stevie's version much better.

Tied Up went to number 38 in 1982 for Olivia Newton John. I think it is strange that Stevie would make her own version of a song that was so recently done by someone else. All the other famous songs she has covered (I Still Miss Someone, Just Like a Woman) have been old by the time she did them.

OK thanks all for the TU(IP) info. So, can anyone help me with my L&L WJ&JC question? :)

I always thought that was strange too, the fact that Stevie would record a song that was recently done by another artists, especially someone like Olivia. Don’t get me wrong, I love Olivia, but I wouldn’t think that Stevie would have recorded one of her songs. My guess is, someone brought it to her. Stevie may not have even known Olivia recorded it. Stevie also covered “Cry Wolf”; two years after Laura Branigan did it first. But I don’t think she was actually covering a Laura Branigan song. I think in this case, Stevie new the song writer (Jude Johnston?) liked it and that is why she recorded it.

As best as I can tell, Waylon Jennings never sang "Leather and Lace". He and Jessi did have an album called Leather and Lace (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE47B17DD47AF7E20C8933143CDBB7DA75B8863E98C1D27465ADEB43D06830862FD51F08E9CEFA830E635ADE0 28BB580FD3CCA257FED66338378CE9B60045&sql=10:8257gjlr86ix) in 1981, though.

OK, thanks for confirming this for me. :)
