My friend spoke to someone who works at Stevie's label, and was told that Stevie's slated to come out with a new album in 2006. :blob2:
Aaaand.....so is Lindsey (now where have I heard THAT before?)
Just thought I'd pass on the exciting news....

on to y'all unless I felt secure in it. The label person said they saw a list of

Thanks for the info, Gypsy.
Before everyone gets their hopes up too far though, keep in mind that there's a "best of" scheduled for 2006, and this most likely is the release in question.

Of course one DOES hope it's a new album, but I'll take a "Best Of"...
Drat. I hope it's a new one...

At least Lindsey's coming out with an album (oh, wait...I'm getting the strangest sense of deja-vu, hahahaha.....) :p

are you new to stevie nicks? when she's recording something she spends months bragging about it all over the place. i don't remember any recent comments by her regarding new materials, quite the opposite, so i suspect that if there will be a new release, it's gonna be another pointless compilation. as for the lindsey release- i'll believe it when i see it (and even then i may not buy it).

Nope, not new to La Nicks.
I doubt her label would have listed it on their "Releases for 2006" if they didn't have something concrete.
But (see Johnny Stew's post above), it may just be a new "Best Of" release.

ain't that the truth...if any macer is coming out with an album next year it will probably be Chris. She seems to be the one to come out with one when you least expect it...and your like "Wait...she has a new album? But I thought she retired?!?"! I bet you anything we see another Chris solo project and Lindsey solo project before a Stevie one.

I don't know, I don't think it's too uncommon for labels to have something listed on their roster that gets pushed back or cancelled for whatever reason.
And I hope you don't take any of the skepticism personally! I know some people get all upset when they post information they've heard and everybody else shrugs it off with an, "I'll believe it when I see it." But that's got more to do with Lindsey/Stevie/Fleetwood Mac than it does with whoever's postingthe information.

It is a greatest hits...Stevie mentioned it once in Oz during an interview.
As for Lindsey...I am hoping but it could always be dumped, changed, pushed back, morphed into Mac.

at this point both chris and lindsey should consider home-made releases, they can burn cdr's at home, and send them personally to all their 30 fans worldwide.

I know people at Warner/Reprise. If anything it's definitely a Best of and even that's not 100%. Sorry to burst your bubble.
I do however feel confident she'll put out another solo album at some point, probably just not anytime in the near future.

There will come a point where she has some down time and is not working with FM and not touring. She is an artist, she HAS to write songs. She herself has said she would die if she didn't. The only reason she hasn't been is because she hasn't had the time (she said that in one of the recent interviews). When she has time off and is sitting at home at her piano in Phoenix she will write again and I believe in my heart she will want to share those songs with the world just like she always has. Why would that change? You know Stevie, she has a wild heart. I refuse to believe she will never put out another solo project. Give her time people, she's not in the grave yet.

I couldn't agree with you more SapphireSister! With her anticipated album release for 2006 (which will most likely be the Best Of...) she had said it will be released to tie in with the tour, so being that the tour is in February, I have a feeling we'll be hearing about it from her soon because it's less than two months away. Another possiblilty is that it could be a new album, because since we haven't heard any official word on it yet, it could be released in late 2006. I guess all we have to do now is wait to see what the official announcement for the album and its release will be...

don't count on new material in 06.
My prediction is she'll land on a smaller more artist-oriented subsidiary by 2007. Lost Highway or a similar label.
Warners/Reprise can't handle Stevie or FM properly anymore.

I agree, I'm also convinced at one point we will see another solo album, songwriting is a deep form of communication for Stevie, and I don't see her renouncing to it.

Stevie's 2006 scheduled release is definately a best of. I would be willing to bet Stevie does not put out another solo album. She will always write but she will not put her writing into songs forever and IMHO, her priorities have changed. She has been trying to hint around about that fact in recent interviews but most hard cores are having a tough time even thinking about her moving on with her life.

But we already had TimeSpace and Enchanted. What's cool with a best of, when there were only 2 (new songs) albums after Timespace? (Street Angel and TISL)
It's like the Eagles GH-vol II, it wasn't a big deal since there were few albums, I guess 2, after vol I.

(Street Angel and TISL)For die-hard fans, a new "best of" seems pointless, but they make money for the record companies. So in their eyes, and with 'Timespace' having been on the shelves for nearly a decade and a half now (and nearly 8 years for 'Enchanted'), it's time to put out a "fresh" compilation... something that will bring a little attention to the back catalog again.
And don't forget that 1-disc compilations sell a lot better (and therefore make a lot more money) than multi-disc boxed sets do.
Plus, "best of" releases are also handy when trying to fulfill the remainder on a contract. ;)

I don't think it's at all unusual or rare for a label to put out a list of expected, or even scheduled, releases. But sadly, that's not a list that's written in stone. "Scheduled" is just that. Not confirmed.
Stevie - I think we'll get yet another compilation, if anything. It'll include songs from TISL. And therefore be new.
Lindsey - ah, Lindsey. The tortured genius. He needs to release those songs. He needs to just bite it and let them go. But they will never be good enough to him. I wish he'd meet someone who would just take his music and say, "it IS finished, Lindsey. It can't get any better. I'm releasing it." Until that happens, I don't think we'll see an album.

Personally I think she should release the old demos - at least some of them. As is. 24-Karot Gold, for instance. I guess she views it as
releasing something that's "not ready yet" and "incomplete" - the CRITICS
would eat her alive, but if they MARKETED it right - ( "Stevie Nicks as NEVER before!!!" . . . "The Fleetwood Mac you THOUGHT you knew! . . ." . . . "The SECRET BEDROOM tapes!!!" etc. ) -
. . . I betcha it would sell like wildfire.....

No one but die-hard fans would buy that crap, so good luck with Warners releasing any of it unless they're bonus tracks to album reissues. Her demos are so unlike any I've heard from other artists; they plod along in such crude form, lyrically and musically, that they're ultimately dull, cloying, and end up losing even the curiosity factor. A lot of the outtakes are great, but I imagine her demos are looped continuously in Hell.

She does a lot of writing in her journals and at her typewriter, sure, but I also think that a lot of the piano demos we have, are of Stevie actually writing those songs as she's sitting there recording them. Which is why some of them tend to drone on... she's working them out, trying a few lyrical ideas, and singing what comes to mind so that she can go back through later and keep the best parts.
Sort of like some of the 'Gift Of Screws' demos we have from Lindsey, where what he's singing is completely nonsensical, or mere mumblings... because he's working out the melody for the vocal line (and the springboard for the lyrics) as he goes.

.
This is exactly what I feel Stevie doesn't understand -
we f'g GET it already, she writes the basic framework and
Lindsey or whoever spruces it up and makes it marketable - but that
doesn't mean that most people - at least *ahem* hard-core fans -
read: Loyal, consistent Consumers - would think less of Stevie or
wouldn't buy the stuff - it would be VERY interesting and even - dare
I say it - "Educational" to see the "work in progress" - if it's understood
going in that it's not the final product, but "a creative work in progress" -
well, SOME people would buy it at least. I'm a semi-hard core fan and
I am NOT going to buy a "Greatest Hits" album with version number
25,000 of "Rhiannon" and "Gold Dust Woman" on it.
Thank you VERY much, been there, done that...
(And yes, Dissention, I DO realize that I'm being a "Silly Dreamer" here -
but I COULD picture a smaller company, perhaps headed up by Stevie and some friends,
having some success with this. . . . If it was marketed the right way. . . . )

24 Karat Gold is absolutely atrocious. I'd rather have my undies set ablaze while I'm in them than listen to it again. The piano demo for Sisters of the Moon, however, is great stuff. Better than the album version if you ask me. Unfortunately, almost none of her demos are close to being as listenable as that one. They're too primitive and there's certainly no market out there for them.

Well, my point is that - suppose there's 10 million fans worldwide
( I'm guessing - I honestly don't know how many there are ) -
suppose 50,000 of those are "hard-core fans" who would buy the
"crappy" demos just to have them or out of the curiosity factor -
why not sell 50,000 cd's, using a small, independent company?
(Henley/Nicks Productions, Inc., something like that.)
Rent a damn warehouse, run'em off (relatively cheap, these days...),
churn'em and burn'em, take the money and run, SO long SUCKAS -
EVERYBODY wins. And so they only made 200 thousand dollars -
donate it to AHI or something, smile for the camera, speed off in the
limo and never look back. And then she gets the moolah and at least
some credit for doing all of that work, and some cheap publicity to boot.

I think a new "Best Of..." is a great idea. As previousley mentioned, it's been a while since she's released a single disk Best Of (14 years to be exact) so it's a good refresher. Plus, Timespace is still a very popular album among fans, and is her best selling one on Amazon.com. A brand new Best Of would be a great marketing strategy for Stevie to pull some fans back to her attention, so when she does release a new album, either solo or FM, some of her fan base would be re-established. I just hope she mixes up the order and puts in some new hits in this album, songs that are still her hits, but are yet a little different from the ones on Timespace. Also, a lot of casual fans love Best Of's because they (obviously) contain all the artists most popular songs in one album. For example, a lot of my friends are fans of artists like Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Black Eyed Peas, and etc...but many of them like Stevie's songs like Edge of Seventeen, Stand Back, and Rooms On Fire that are on my iPod. So, when I told them that all of those songs were on her Best Of album, Timespace, they all went out and bought the album for their collections! So, for right now, a Best Of album is in Stevie's best interests, although, being a "die-hard" fan, i still would love to see an album with new material some time in the near future. :)

I don't think she'll ever release any of her demos as demos. What I mean is, I believe that she always thinks there's a chance she may actually fully develop any one of those songs into fully finished works, therefore doesn't want people to hear them before they are officially done & released. Does that make ANY sense?
Think about it (heehee) - the only things we've heard demo-wise on official CDs had already been released previously (SOTM, GDW, POTU/No Light, Think About It, Twisted, Sweet Girl...) and we got to finally hear different versions of those songs - PLUS they were much more polished than the vast majority of Stevie's demos.
As far as a Best of - I woldn't mind it, really. I hope they do it well, like those recent "The Essential..." or "Gold" compilations I've been seeing around stores. Everyone & their brother has one of those & they're damn good, IMO. They're not just big hits on those CDs. I don't want Timespace rehashed. Put all the hits on it, include some soundtrack stuff, toss in a couple of live tunes & maybe a new song or two. I'll buy.

Of course! Rehashing old demos is mainly how she operates these days, so there's no way she's going to put any of those out there.
Imagine if the Enchanted box set had featured demos or early versions of "Nomad," "Sorcerer," "Planets of the Universe," "Running Through The Garden," "Smile At You" and "The Tower"? The poor thing would have actually had to write some new material for TISL and SYW.

I still keep hoping for the stevie re-issues to her solo lps (belladonna-mirror at least) but as a fan I would like something 'more' special than the re-issues for fmac. I'd like the 1st cd to have different alternates and or outtakes of the orginial songs on the lp and the 2nd cd to have the more 'special' or rarest songs not just the usual stuff as well as 'rare' outtake pics or a different lp cover pic with a nice booklet inside. They could do outtake pics from that era and put maybe the 45 ps inside it or rare ps from uk etc...just a nice mix or small articles. Not just something half baked up to just 'sell' but the negative side of me says thats all they'll do which speaking as a fan upsets me ...its like weres the creativity anymore now a days really. I'm just not sure anymore. I do think stevies outtakes or demos would sell but it just has to be done right. I guess only time will tell. I do agree that lindsey needs to just put a cd out there...just do it what is he afraid of really. Yikes. Count me out of this venture. Throw whatever fun alternate takes you want on a bonus disc, but leave the album itself alone, save for a standard remix/remaster.

I'm still bitter over the inclusion of "Silver Springs" on the reissue of Rumours. That is not the album as I grew to love it and it does nothing but fukc up my enjoyment of it.

Didn't mean to 'offend' anyone...but speaking as a fan. I've got the 'real' cd with the orginial songs on it already thats 'why' I wanted something very different and unusal for the 'new' releases thats all. To each his own...it was only a idea. I don't think you'll have to worry about it anyway because the re-issues haven't been done yet and who knows 'if' they will and I'm sure she would do the same as fmac did anyway instead of trying something new and different. Like I said just my 2 cents thats all......Sue

This is one instance where I'm ever so slightly more forgiving, simply because I like the song so much and sandwiching it inbetween sides of the album doesn't screw it up too much, but yeah, I'd still much prefer it just on the bonus disc. The original album should stand on its own.
By far the worst thing in the history of humanity, though, is the reissue of Dire Straits' Brother In Arms. Every song is not only remastered but also remixed and extended. Now the whole album is too long, and every song wears out its welcome before it ends. "So Far Away" did not need to have its chorus repeated for another whole minute. And who on earth ever listened to "Money For Nothing" and thought, "You know, this song rocks, but it could be longer..."?
Nobody, that's who. Nobody and jerks.

Who did you offend? You offered an opinion/idea, and a couple of people responded with different opinions/ideas. That tends to be how it works.

I do too, and it sounds like crap, as do most LPs that were released on CD in the 80s and early 90s. All of Stevie's 80s albums, as well as all of the other Fleetwood Mac albums, are in dire need of a sonic upgrade.

So to my ears, it belongs on 'Rumours.'
(By the way, dissy... it's ultra-easy to program a CD to play only the tracks you want. You never have to listen to "Silver Springs" if you don't want to. By the power of Greyskull, you HAVE the power!)

Starshine? I'm sure you're using single quotes to stress certain words in your post, but what you really want to do is italicize type that you are emphasizing. Just hit the italic "I" icon (located abover the message box) before you type your word or phrase and your coding should come up. Than type your word or phrase in between the open and closed brackets.

I know exactly what you mean. I did the same with Space Needle, Chanel, Chanel, and My Heart - I added them to me own version of TISL (I took OFF That Made Me Stronger! :) ). They should have been on the original, imo. They're just so a part of it in my mind.

Thats nice to know that I didn't [I]offend[I]anyone. I've been a fan/collector since '89 and I know some fans alot longer (which is great)but when Rumours was out I was like only 8 or 9 I didn't know anything about fmac back than or Stevie. Not like kids do now. I do agree that alot of stevies 80's lps need to be remastered as well as the rest of fmac. Does anyone think that mac will do re-issues to Mirage or Tango? with the extra cd? I like Mirage but my orginial cd is recorded so low that it sounds just aweful really. Not really a big fan of Tango but its ok. I still hope Stevie does a re-issues cd I'd still buy it if there remastered . Still hoping for the extra cd or rare pics but she my hold that for the book were suppose to have sometime? If I sounded negative before that wasn't my intent. Its great to hear other fans opinions even if you don't agree with them. At least we can discuss it like this which is fun. We can all learn from each other ya know. Sue

For die-hard fans, a new "best of" seems pointless, but they make money for the record companies.
Plus, "best of" releases are also handy when trying to fulfill the remainder on a contract. ;)You hit the nail on the head there.
