Well Lindsay Lohan was a co-host on TRL today. I only watched the beginning part, but they asked her questions about the new album and the covers. The other host kept mentioning that this song was truely an awesome and classic song. Lindsay went on about how her mom always listened to Stevie And Fleetwood Mac and that she was a huge fan. She also says she wanted to do it because EVERYBODY loves Stevie Nicks (put a smile on my face). She then said that she hopes Stevie likes her take on it.
It seems to me Stevie might be getting popular again maybe to a younger generation. They are playing her songs on 98.5 a radio station here in Boston that is aimed towards Teens IMO. Then Her playing the girls barmitzfah. maybe its just me rambling but could she becoming popular again??

Lindsay went on about how her mom always listened to Stevie And Fleetwood Mac and that she was a huge fan. That word "fan" used to mean "fanatic" & denoted somebody who was absolutely rabid about a band & bought all the band's shit & read about the band constantly & talked about the band constantly & dreamed about the band constantly. Now it apparently just means "I've heard some of their songs."

That would be really wild if Stevie were on her way to becoming an idol of the female teen market. I know the Stevie Bug hasn't bitten my 15-year-old niece, who considers Stevie "fat," "old" & "gross."

Wow...Mix 98.5 is playing Stevie? What are they playing? I don't really listen to the radio anymore, but if they're playing Stevie maybe I'll give them another chance...

I think it's really cool that she actually mentioned Stevie, and since TRL has a huge audience that's good. The main thing I worry about with covers, good or bad, is that the younger generation will not know it's not an original, and will give them all the credit--so props to Lohan for giving Stevie some credit there..

My 18 year old niece, who if I remember correctly, is now sporting pink and orange striped hair, and has a nose ring, is a pretty big Stevie fan. I took her to see the SYW and TISL shows. Her other favorites are Green Day, Good Charlotte, The Sex Pistols, and Gwen Stefani.
About her friends that don't like Stevie, she has said, "I have some friends who suck and don't like Stevie. But they don't talk shit about her around me. It told them, 'You talk shit about Stevie, I kick your ass.' "
All 4 foot 11 inches of her ! Pretty spunky thing, she is.
After the TISL show, which was pretty weak, my sister and I were moaning a little about the performance. My niece ? Seething. Bitter at us. After a few minutes of me and Sis ragging about the show, she spouted off, "Get over it ! Maybe she was sick. She is awesome. What did you want ? A circus ? She's older than both of you ! SHUT UP !"
At that time, my niece was 14. I remember this verbatim because we all still laugh about it. Gotta love the kid. She told US, alright.

Though their opinions of her aren't as vehement as your niece's. I think they just feel her music is irrelevant to their generation and she's therefore passé.
I have caught the younger one grooving to "Edge Of Seventeen" though. :D

I'm 15 and I've been a Mac fan my whole life. :) Christine was always my favourite, though. :sorry:
Anyway, that's so cool that Lindsay mentioned Stevie on TRL. I watch TRL sometimes; I feel like it's my duty as a teenager.

I'm fifteen! Wait, no... I'm sixteen! Ive only been a fan since I was fourteen though, Sahara got me into them. I get _loads_ of slagging in school from all those stupid people whose only relationship with any Mac songs are the damn dance remixes. _God_, they make me sick... But I'm re-educating eveyone I can! Pretty much everyone in my class knows "Alrigh', um... In tha' 'Fleetwood Mac', dere's Steve? Stevie? An' dat's a girl, and den dere's Lindsey, an' dat's a guy, and dere's Christine... Is da' righ'? An' dey sing de Chain, an' da' Stevie sings Stan' Back, yeah?" *sighs* It's painful, really, but it's better than "Stevie Nicks? Who's he?".
And there's a girl I know called Christina who likes them too, and she's fifteen.
I don't like the covers, though, because everyone always says, y'know, if you're just going along singing Stand Back "You're singin' it wrong!" and I go absoluetly nuts along the lines of "NO, YOUR CRAPPY LITTLE MODERN BAND IS SINGING IT_WRONG_. THEY CAN'T EVEN SING!! AND THEY DO EVERY INSTRUMENT ON THEIR DAMN P.C.!!"

Probably why you're getting so much slagging.

Yeah, what's the deal with all this "computer" music these days? I do so long for a simpler time, and the lush, organic sound of songs like "Stand Back."

My ears enjoy the instrumental dichotomy.

me too. for some reason, when I'm listening to my Gwen Stefani cd, I hear Stevie in those songs (I'm hoping Gwen is influenced by Stevie in some way) but I can totally hear Stevie belting out some of those songs or at least using the music. The slow remix version of What You Waiting For really sounds like a Stevie song. I think it's the TWD street mix.

Um yeah I'd pay to hear Stevie's rendition of Holla Back Girl
.
P.S. Did you see Gwen on The Billboard Awards last night? Simply breath taking and oh so talented. I was actually thinking she reminds me somewhat of Stevie in her performance style the way she connects to the music. You can tell she's really feeling it. She's also beautiful and sexy as hell but not in a slutty, in your face way. A class act just like our girl.
On a sadder note I was offered tickets to see her here in Los Angeles Thanksgivng weekend but was in SF visiting family and could not attent. Huge dissapointment as she is one of the few artists I would pay the big bucks to see today :(.

I did see it and while I normally like Gwen, last night I didn't like what she wore, her hair or the performance. It was ok, but just ok. Not bad.

Definitely did NOT like the hair of the first outfit she wore to accept the award. WTF was that? The red dress she wore during the performance however was hawt! Those legs, the way she moves, ok I'll stop now :p.
I think it was the MTV awards where she peformed Cool and did the Marilyn thing. Now THAT was truly amazing. Did you catch that performance?

I LOVE the quote in your sig, some of my favorite Stevie lyrics ever and worth quoting:
Ooh...it was just the first time
That I ever played for you
I could be the dancer of your dreams
I can turn all your music on
I can make you feel alive
I am gone but I'm never gone from you
It was just the first time
What I enjoy most about them is that they are very sexual to me and more overt than most but maybe I'm just reading into it. I can FEEL the tension in her voice and she obviously wants this "little boy" in more ways than one. I could picture her doing a sexy little dance for him in lingerie and spinning around in chiffon (ok that's stretching it, but back in the day when she wrote it).
