I was driving home with my mother last Thursday, and the studio version of Landslide comes on the radio. Instantly, I'm put in an uncomfortable position, because, and I say this unashadmedly, I start crying almost every time I hear that song. I hold back for about a minute, but then I hear my mother very quietly singing along.
"Mom, I'm sooo sorry about this, but most of the time when I hear this song, I start crying!" I'm 20 years old, but that was the first time I'd ever openly admitted to a song making me sad. For whatever reason, I'm dreading the response, but she chimes in with a basic "it's so touching, it's such a wonderful song, it says so much about love and getting older..." and so on. You see, my mom's one of those "former" hippy types. :o
I breathe a sigh of relief and start laughing: "But seeing as you're here with me, I'll hold myself back!" I felt as if a weight had been lifted from my chest. A couple minutes later she asked me if I liked Stevie's or the Dixie Chick's version better. We both agreed, almost instantly, that Stevie's was way better.
:sorry: if this sounds like a bunch of navel-gazing, but I just had a little story to share. :xoxo:

actually, it's pretty cool cause I feel the same way when she says the lines about getting older and becoming bolder. it's so true.

From Dictionary.com:
I actually have dic.com open right now, I just didn't think navel gazing would be in it.

I actually have dic.com open right now

I know you typed that as short-hand, but wouldn't that be an interesting site...

Is there anyone out there that can listen to Landslide in any situation, even if they're a little upset themselves, and _not_ cry? Or anyone that didn't cry the first time they saw it live with just Lindsey and Stevie on stage, being all emotional? Like The Dance or something?

My thoughts exactly...

Though I'm more likely to cry at Say Goodbye or Beautiful Child than I am at Landslide.

Maybe because I heard Landslide first before I knew all about Lindsey and Stevie and their story and all that. But if I ever see it live God only knows what might happen...! :distress:

Well, there's plenty of stuff I'm likely to cry at, but Landslide on the Dance is right up there! I mean, _look_ at them... They're so tragic and cute and then they hug and you just want to cry. Well, I do.
