Stevie Nicks Australian Tour Announced
Featuring concerts with the MSO and John Farham!
Stevie Nicks, one of the most enduring, influential and loved female artists in rock'n'roll history, is bringing her solo concert tour 'Gold Dust' to Australia in February next year.
Nicks and her red-hot nine-piece band led by guitar virtuoso Waddy Watchel will perform her greatest hits from Fleetwood Mac and her incredible solo career. And in addition, the tour will feature some very special concerts.

The first is at Rod Laver Arena on February 18 where Nicks will be accompanied by the wonderful Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in a magical night to be filmed for a DVD. The marriage of Nicks' songs with full orchestral backing promises to be an incredible experience. She is thrilled to be working with the world-renowned MSO and has five days of rehearsals planned to ensure the concert – and the resulting DVD – will be one of the highlights of her illustrious career.

And in what is set to be a highlight of the summer concert calendar, Stevie's concerts in Brisbane and Perth will be double headers featuring Australia's most popular performer John Farnham! The two musical legends jumped at the chance to share a bill, Nicks having recently played with Eagle Don Henley in the US, as Farnham did with Tom Jones earlier this year. They will continue to New Zealand for three further shows together.

And to complete a very special 'Gold Dust' tour, American songstress Vanessa Carlton will be the special guest for all shows.

Nicks will be in Melbourne for a week from Monday October 31 to launch the tour and to attend the Melbourne Cup Carnival as a guest of promoter Andrew McManus. She was last in Australia out front of Fleetwood Mac on their February 2004 Australian tour.

Anyone who saw those shows can affirm Nicks was simply extraordinary, unquestionably still a vital and mesmerizing performer. Or as one US critic so aptly put it recently: "At a time when the women of pop music are too often stripper wannabes lip-synching to a song someone else wrote, Nicks' classy and commanding presence felt like a revelation".

The 'Gold Dust' tour had its beginnings earlier this year when Nicks received as invitation from friend Eagle Don Henley for a series of ten double-header shows. Nicks had such a good time, she decided to continue on her own playing a further 23 concerts through the US summer. And the US critics raved….

"One of the most magical rock shows in a long time" (Hollywood Reporter)

"Nicks gave fans what they came for and also showed why she is one of rock's great female icons, willing to both revel in her past and show she is a spirited contemporary singer." (Cincinatti Post)

"Truth be told, Nicks could have simply come out to the microphone, raised her arms and spun into her signature twirl and the crowd would have been satisfied. She offered so much more. Nicks is as strong vocally as ever and her recent reunion with Fleetwood Mac has seemed to reinvigorate her passion for performing." (The Republican)

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in January 1975. With her sultry good looks and gypsy-like appearance, she helped create 1977's classic multi-Grammy award-winning "Rumours," penning songs such as 'Rhiannon', 'Dreams' and 'Landslide' amongst others. The band went on to sell well over 50 million albums.

In 1981 she released her first solo album 'Bella Donna' which achieved five-times platinum status. Several successful solo albums followed yielding hits like 'Stop Draggin' My Heart Around' (with Tom Petty), 'Stand Back', 'Talk to Me', 'Edge of Seventeen', 'White Wing Dove', 'If Anyone Falls', 'I Can't Wait', 'Every Day' and 'Leather and Lace' (with Don Henley).
Fleetwood Mac reformed for 2004's 'Say You Will' album and world tour to phenomenal success, including a triumphant Australian tour seen by more than120,00 people. Nicks' last solo album 2001's 'Trouble In Shangri-La' featured friends Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray, Sarah McLachlan and Natalie Maines, whoseband The Dixie Chicks went on to have a huge hit with a cover of 'Landslide'. She retains a large army of devoted fans of all ages.

Like Nicks, John Farnham is one of the most awarded and popular artists of his generation, with a spectacular career spanning almost four decades. During that time, his live performances have always thrilled audiences, whether it is solo or sharing the stage with artists such as Olivia Newton-John and most recently, Tom Jones.

Farnham listened to more than 150 Australian songs before recording "I Remember When I Was Young: Songs From The Great Australian Songbook", and has brought new life to timeless tracks like Ross Wilson's 'Come Back Again', James Reyne's 'Reckless', Richard Clapton's 'Girls On The Avenue' and more. It is a wonderfully memorable album, which Farnham can't wait to perform live.

Continuing on from the US tour, Nicks is proud to introduce young performer Vanessa Carlton on the 'Gold Dust' tour in Australia. A then 19-year old Carlton enjoyed a multi-platinum debut album 'Be Not Nobody' and a #1 US and #1 Australian smash with 'A Thousand Miles'. Her gorgeous vocals also featured on the Counting Crows #1 hit "Big Yellow Taxi".

The classically trained musician is highly regarded for her riveting performances solo on the piano. This will be her first visit to Australia.

Don't miss the extraordinary Stevie Nicks on this very special Australian tour.

This is the second article citing "Whit Winged Dove" as a hit right next to "Edge of Seventeen". I can understand messing up the title but they obviously know the correct title.
