i don't know if this has ever been brought up or not but it's been bothering me for a while and wondered if anyone else had noticed it or if i'm crazy.
Is the Street Angel on the Enchanted boxed set the Abbey Road version? because it does NOT sound at all like the Street Angel on my Street Angel CD (ie the intro in particular)
and Destiny is another one.........the Enchanted version has a whole different ending.
has anything been mentioned about this before or am I listening to different cds to everyone else  or are the songs on Enchanted just remastered tracks?

Blue Denim on Enchanted has a longer beginning
Street Angel on Enchanted is missing the guitar parts
Rose Garden has a different instrumental middle part...she 'ooohs'
Destiny has no sax.

so are the Enchanted songs the OrIgInaL Street Angel versions that Stevie thought were shit? coz heaps of the alt versions imo were better than the final SA versions but they're ALL good :) i'm just very interested to know where these ones were pulled from

Destiny has no sax.Plus the piano is either mixed more up front or it's a different piano arrangement. It's really pretty. I like listening to "Destiny" more on the box set than on the album.

so are the Enchanted songs the OrIgInaL Street Angel versions that Stevie thought were shit?I don't think we know for sure, although we just sort of assume that they're the Glyn Johns work. And somewhere in some print interview, there was something about how they inadvertently pulled the wrong mixes for "Enchanted."

I really don't like the Enchanted versions of those songs. They all sound better to me on Street Angel and those are the ones I pull from when I burn my own cds.

Blue Denim on Enchanted has a longer ending.Actually, it's the other way around.
The 'Street Angel' version of "Blue Denim" has a longer ending -- the 'Enchanted' version has a longer intro. :)

I know. I typed it wrong.

I know. I typed it wrong. No worries... just wanted to clarify for anyone not familiar with the two versions. But then I saw MacMan had beaten me to it anyway!
From my "More Fun With Audacity" files...... I combined the two versions of "Blue Denim" for a 4:33 version that includes the long 'Enchanted' intro and the long 'Street Angel' outro. :dork:

Blue Denim is the only track I prefer the Enchanted vesion. I ::hate:: Destiny without the sax.

I agree. I like the SA versions better, especially Destiny.

i think rose garden is different all throughout too, not just during the instrumental. there's a much more prominent guitar track on the SA, at least to my ears.
i, too, prefer the SA versions, possibly with the exception of the Blue Denim ending. I think it might have been that she sang the higher harmony twice on the SA version (once with the melody, then once by itself), instead of once melody and once high harmony. Or something. and that irked me a bit. It's idiosynchratic but there ya go.

Stevie should have sued someone's ass ;)
I don't much care for the Enchanted versions...........but at least they're DIFFERENT so it's not just a compo cd of all the other cds we alread have

All of the tracks are superior in their SA versions, except for Destiny. Taking that horrendous, AC-lite-fm-shit saxaphone off of the song made it at least listenable, instead of vomit inducing

You complete me.
Destiny with that sax gives me vertigo.

I always figured the alternate mixes of the 4 SA songs that Stevie put on Enchanted was because she liked them better. In this one interview I heard in late 94, she wasn't shy in saying how disappointed she was with the end results of the SA CD. I'd have to hear it again, but it sounded like this Glynn Johns (or is it Jones? .. too lazy to go look) kind of did not care so much what Stevie wanted. At least that is what she alluded to. In any event, I think the mix of Rose Garden on Enchanted is better. The vocals seem clearer I also like Street Angel (the song) better on Enchanted. It seems to have more of a mysterious feel to it. As far as "Destiny", well I never cared for the song that much. I know I'm probably in the minority there. However, I don't think the mix of Blue Denim on the boxed set is that great. I do like the longer intro, but the mix on the boxed set sounds like an adult contemporary mix, and they totally cut out the awesome guitar work at the end. What's up with that?
