Who's the guy?

The quality is not good enough for me to be able to make anything of him. Just a random guy or someone we know?

what's his story anyway? anyone know? He's Stevie's longtime choreographer & bust-out-the-moves trainer. He's in a bunch of her solo videos, & has danced with her onstage.

I've never seen the video...where is the video?

It was never officially released. Many people have it, though. It's very, VERY dated, very early 80's, right when they first really started making vids. It's pretty cheesy, but I love her enormous hair in it.

I am unable to make VHS copies right now, but maybe someone else can help you out. Does anyone have it on their hard drive to post?

I hadn't thought that Jeffries had been much in Stevie's life until 1983 when the craze of making vid's was a neccessity to make your song a seller. MTV hadn't even started yet right? This video was 1981? MTV was OMG, not to know the launch date...even when I sat there counting down...I'm so ashamed.

I like the video...especially the end when she's walking around on the beach in all her black chiffon glory.

I have a really good quality version of this video on DVD. If I buy a new computer, I'll be sure to burn some a copy.

God I'm so glad that video was never released, even back then it would have sucked. And why is she looking at a picture of her own brother that way?? Bleccch.

Isn't it because their Uncle died?

The quality is rough so it's hard to tell, but I don't think it's THAT bad. Obviously that song turned out to be one where the video should have been a live one, but how could she have known. It is cheesy, but I don't think it's horrible.

MTV was launched August 1, 1981
The first video played was "Video Killed The Radio Star" by the Buggles.

One of many strange factoids that I have in my head...

Yes, but can anyone tell me when they played their last video?

It was early 1998, right?

Is that why? I still don't see the connection. Was this even supposed to be about their dead uncle? I know the song had references to him and John Lennon being killed but that seems to be a bit of a stretch in the video.

LMFAO! Love it! That's fer damn sure! MTV SUCKS! Seemed like it started going downhill, what....1994-ish? I mean even when it became over-run w/ tv shows, game shows, etc, it was still young enough to recycle it's oldies but goodies. Now it's just 24/7 crap. Really not MTV's fault persay, it's the artists that are out there. They promote MTV, MTV encourages them to make more crap videos. Viscous cycle really.

As for the EO17 vid...the real topic here (:sorry: ) I loved it. Good for it's time. Much like the Buggles vid, but pretty cheesy by today's standards.

Wow, now I have to go back and watch this vid to see if it is Mick, I just watched it last week-lol!! All I know is I am part of the MTV generation and I watched it launch that first time, the first music video station with my whole family, we stayed up the whole day and night just watching, it was amazing , not like today where technology is taken for granted. Stevie and FM were a big part of that era, no matter what the younger fans who aren't familair with this era think of it! I was able to see my IDOLS 24 hours a day on MTV. There was nothing like it and there still isn't.

Same reason she made 2 videos for Stand Back & only released one. Of course, I have no clue what her reasoning was.

It could have been because SDMHA was a bigger hit & that got plenty of exposure on MTV. Maybe they figured "why bother" with the Edge one? It's not exactly a great video.

It is pretty cool when it is just La Nicks singing and the inverted effects of her dancing. As for the other stuff, it is very much the same as all the videos of that era. Interestingly, videos got better in a very short period of time a la Gypsy, Hold Me, etc. I remember the artists all complaining about even having to make videos at all and many considered it beneath them. In the Molly M. interview, which was in like 85, La Nicks said something like FM never had to make videos to sell millions of records, etc.

The doll is uhhmm - errr -
*blush* a symbol of "innocence."
Her Uncle? John Lennon? Well, YEAH but -
there's more.
I've found it very interesting that people from my age group
"got" this song right away - what it's really about -
but people who were born later sometimes somehow don't, in general.
(i.m.o.) <------------ Feeble attempt to prevent getting
flamed at
Same thing seems (in general) to be true of "Shock the Monkey"
by Peter Gabriel. Maybe both were just "Eighties Things,"
and made more sense in the time frame they were written.
