It's about the closet thing to a duet her and Stevie ever did. It's a shame you can't really hear Christine all that well on it.

...which leaves Stevie only 2 songs on Mirage if this is termed a "duet".....

Why? If she wrote it, isn't it a "Stevie song"? :D Personally, I would've loved for them to have sung together more often.

She got slim pickings on that album, anyway....A more forward duet would have lessened her time on Mirage more.....

Well, the case has been made that after Bella Donna, she was saving all her really good songs for her solo albums.

Are we counting the minutes she sings lead or something?

'Straight Back' is one of my absolute all-time fave's of Stevie's. Her voice sounds incredible, but the song is so unique, too. It's definitely not like any other of her songs. I love it!

you are so sweet to offer to help create one for me! what I'd like is something cool from a performance of Rhiannon, since that's my favorite song of all time. maybe the part where she sing "well, I don't think you do" from the Saturday performance in Vegas (and the one I went to) and she does that awesome stance and her "batwings" fly all over the place - or any cool Rhiannon that you like...I appreciate this SO SO much.

I tried to PM you, but I don't think the PMs are working.

Has there been talk of "Mirage" being remastered? I sure hope that is ture. That one definitely needs to be redone. The input level is so low.

After the first 3 remasters were released, there was talk of Mirage and Tango, but that's probably all it was; talk. I never saw/read/heard anything official...

Fleetwood Mac's ENTIRE WB/Reprise catalogue is to be remastered. Unless somebody at Warner Special Products (nee Rhino Records) has kaboshed the original plan since the release of the first three. (if so, then that's really stupid to me...if they had the budget to remaster the entire Elvis Costello catalogue, which wasn't all THAT big of sellers, they should at least finish the Fleetwood Mac project.)

I know what you mean, Chili. I've seen info about many artists works being remastered & thought "Really? Is there that big a market for this person/band?"

Alexbt

Is it being remixed as well?

Mastering is only the final polishing of the overall frequencies of the mix so it is suitable for reproduction/listening.

So in effect, remastering is just taking the original mix and having a new (or maybe even the same) mastering engineer retweak the frequencies.

I hope that they don't, but it's possible they'll make it LOUDER by squashing the frequencies with compression and limiting, which is why all current alternative/rock albums sound like shit!

I love Straight Back. I discovered it on my Mirage tape while flipping around between Gypsy and Hold Me. :)
So, I only like 3 songs on that album... lol.

I was going to do a cover of it for the Gold Dust Project, but I never got around to it.

One interesting thing about the CD version we have now is that John's bass is mostly on the left speaker! Then it kinda spreads out funny.

I think the time is right for one (or a few) of us to start emailing David McLees again.I don't think those those three expected "big" sellers made any money, so I think the label canceled its plans to bother any more with Fleetwood Mac back catalog.

I don't think those those three expected "big" sellers made any money, so I think the label canceled its plans to bother any more with Fleetwood Mac back catalog. That's pretty sad, if that's the case.

As Mr. D and Paula (wasn't that a '70s TV series with Pat Morita?) pointed out, there are many remastered (and even expanded) reissues for artists with seemingly smaller fanbases than Fleetwood Mac.
You'd think that if those reissues could find their way into the marketplace, then Fleetwood Mac's could, too.

I have a bad feeling that this is true. We've heard nothing from anyone about re-releasing any of their back catalogue. I doubt that anyone in the current Fleetwood Mac line-up even cares about this, unfortunately. All they care about are doing another oldies tour. And, the record label probably felt that if the big three albums didn't generate much interest, why bother with the rest.:distress: I'm very happy with those re-issues from last year, by the way.

hard to believe there's no interest in these albums, or the Welch era albums..

that's sad

David

hard to believe there's no interest in these albums, or the Welch era albums..Well, there is interest -- but it's only among fans. The rest of the world doesn't give a shit about old Fleetwood Mac albums. They don't even care about new Fleetwood Mac albums.

It's a shame that Rhino got swallowed up by Warner because independent Rhino was inclined to release back catalog stuff that didn't necessarily have mainstream, current demand. Warner wouldn't do that, however. It would be like expecting Whirlpool to release a 25-year-old refrigerator.
