I was in the hospital surgery waiting room this morning. My mother had a surgery today. But, this is not about her, it is about the other people in the hospital, specifically the people waiting in the surgery waiting room. Almost all of them cried when Stevie sang Landslide and some did not know who she was, etc. Some clapped when the song was over. The song seemed to help them in their situation. It was so moving to me. She really can effect and help people with her music. I saw it today.

Anyway, I thought that was cool and worth sharing.

PS - My mom is fine. Her tumor was not her cancer returning, but the surgery was hell on her as she is no spring chicken

That's pretty cool that so many people (fans and non-fans) love that song and can instantly relate to it (and to her)..

Glad your mom is ok :)

It was absolutly jarring - you could feel the emotion all around you. It was as if she held that last "snooooow" just for us - no one else.

As for my mom, she is a trooper.

As fate would have it, I was supposed to be in NYC this weekend and could have gone with you and Heirja to the thing this morning, but my duty was here, so here I am. Yet, La Nicks moved me more here. It was surreal

Yeah uhm - wow.

I swear sometimes I think that all of the garbage that went on
was so that Stevie could get to this point and do what she's
doing now and help all the thousands upon thousands of
people that she's helping.
A "God Thing?" Who's to say?
But - yeah - wow. I'm glad you and the rest of these people
were helped by Stevie's wonderful music.
You'd almost think she's a . . . GENIUS! ;)

I think La Nicks has a very high IQ. Interestingly, IQ is measured in many ways. The 100 or whatever test is usually conducted on the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) - which tests only in certain areas. But, the genius debate is for that other thread

As for my mom - she has had surgery or been hospitalized like once a year for the last five or six years. She had a mastecomy (left) for cancer. So, when we heard she had a tumor in her overy - I thought that was it. But, they performed a hysterecomy today and it was benign. Thankfully, they removed her appendix while they were in there as we were sure that would be next year's surgery.

She copes well though and has sitters and/or nurses round the clock. So, that helps!!!!!!

I am glad your Mom is alright. Wow, your story is so moving.
You should work this story in a "Ask Stevie" question to let Stevie know just how much her music helps people.

"And the days go by....
like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own...
I begin again
Said to my friend, baby...
Everything sucks,
nothing else matters."

She's back in black,
She's back in town,
and she's looking around.
And first time back up to the plate
she hit a home run.
Geeez - WAY to GO Stevie.

I am glad to hear your mom is okay. I wish her well.

When Stevie, Lindsey and/or the Mac give lackluster or marginal performances, I am one to point it out and have been blasted for it on this site on numerous occasions for doing so. However, her performance today was fantastic...I moved me to tears. This was Stevie Nicks at her best, as far as I am concerned. She looked great and sounded great. I recorded the performance on DVR and am going to transfer it to DVD. As far as I am concerned, this is her best televised performance since "The Dance".

Rock On Gold Dust Woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbs up:

That's a great story. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad to hear that your mother made it through okay. I meant to ask you but got caught up in all the hurricane insanity.
I didn't get to see Landslide live but as I said in another thread, Dreams had an effect on me. And I gave up on that song taking me to anyplace emotional a long time ago. It was still fun to sing along to at the shows, though.
Miss Nicks was giving off a major vibe this morning, if I do say so myself.

your way dude, Hope everything goes fine (Mother's and hospitals are STILL a touchy issue to me). I could see how it brought everyone to tears.

Anyways, I missed the show since I was sick and didnt feel like getting up that early to record it, So I will have to trade for a copy it seems.

Just curious, but does anyone know why she did it with Sharon and Jana doing backups? I've never heard it done this way before. It kind of reminded me of the Dixie Chicks version (which I don't really like, that being one of the reasons).

Just taking a Wild guess but Stevie's niece has school now -
maybe it's as simple as Lori P-Nicks wanting to stay home
and take care of her. Did you always do your homework
when you were 14 if your parents weren't home?
I sure didn't! . . . .

Uhm, I'd just like to add that -
It's hard to picture all this happening by accident.
I mean, Stevie wants her music to be fun and light and upbeat but -
after all these years?
She knows exactly what she's doing. . . .

Who KNEW!???

Oh yeah - millions upon millions of fans, and at least 4 musicians,
although they probably never admitted it even to themselves.

"From what I can tell I need to be here"

"I have come to make you better,
I have come to take you away."

"There are angels...here on earth...
Angels...sent from God"

I think Stevie needs to be an angel/Rhiannon-type during times of national dispair. I don't think she ever planned for it to happen, it just did and now it's almost like it's her new calling.

I will light a candle for your mother. Surgery is scarey for anyone, especially for the elderly. Your mom sounds like a real trooper. My wish for her peaceful recovery. :o

In the Jana's Q&A on the Nicksfix, Jana said they added the two harmony parts beginning in the first Vegas shows. Jana said they learned them from listening to Stevie's demo's as they had many harmony parts not on the recording, to wit:

"On 'Landslide' we added harmonies for this tour. Here is an inside scoop. When Stevie recorded 'Landslide' she had many harmonies on the original recording but when they mixed it they took them out. We basically add whatever Stevie wants."

Also, thanks to all the well wishers!!

For levity - my mother was heard to opine in a lily to her nurse yesterday, "I have no more ovaries and only one breast - I feel like a lopsided drag queen" - "why the hell couldn't she have done a little lipo while she was in there" Then she hit the morphine drip

Sadly, we are not in the Catholic Hospital this time like we were last year when she called the woman trying to give her the Eucharist a "Papist"

From Stevie Nicks, Enchanted Box Set (interview) -

"And I SWEAR sometimes it just seems like these songs are
coming THROUGH ME, from SOMEBODY else or from some . . .
'SPIRIT CHANNEL' or something, as CRAZY-sounding as that.
'Cause I'm just SCRIBBLING as FAST as I can. . . ."

Keep scribbling, Stevie. ;)
