Hey all, just got back from NYC a little while ago... :whew: what a morning!! :woohoo:
Here's what happened...
I got to NYC at about 5am and picked up Ed (Hejira) at his apartment... For about an HOUR we looked for parking, but couldn't find anything near the Today Show Plaza, so we ended up going back downtown to try to find a spot, which we did.. so at about 6am, we took a taxi back to midtown to Rockafeller Center... There was a line of about 30 people in front of us, which wasn't bad at all, considering this one lady who was behind us said that usually the lines wrap around the block for things like this... I walked off the line and went up and down asking people if they were "Ledgies" ( ), to which I got 1 reply - from Kelly :p
She was sitting in the second spot in front of everyone and met me with open arms
So, we waited a few minutes, and then all of a sudden we heard the intro beats to "Stand Back"... We walked off the line and up to the barriers where we could actually see the stage... Stevie was there, with the full band, doing soundcheck... she was wearing NO MAKEUP , had her hair in a pony tail, was wearing this brown-colored paint suit, and a cream-colored overcoat.. at first she was sporting sunglasses, but then took them off after about 10 minutes... She did "Stand Back" twice, full of twirls and everything.. I was in Stevie heaven  ... she then did "Landslide" and "Dreams", during which security started letting people inside near the stage area... It wasn't packed AT ALL, surprisingly, considering how late we arrived (there were some girls there waiting since 3am who didn't get any closer to the stage than we did), and we ended up basically standing in the 2nd row
During soundcheck, Ed was able to get some awesome pictures of Stevie, some REALLY closeup ones, some very revealing ones ;-)
He also got some video footage of I think "Dreams"...
So after soundcheck was over (it lasted about 25 minutes), we just sorta waited around for about 2 hours.. Time went by pretty quickly and everyone in the crowd was very friendly and talkative, so it was cool...
Then, at about 830, the band came back to the stage without Stevie, and then something very interesting happened... Sharona went up to Stevie's mic and the band started playing "landslide"... She started singing the LEAD VOCAL on it, and sang the whole entire song!! I was surprised (pleasantly), as I had never heard Sharona sing lead before... I INSISTED Ed record some video footage of this, and he did - about 20 seconds worth :)
After Sharona finished, Stevie took the stage pretty quickly and awaited the signal from the director to begin playing live... and within a couple minutes, the band started, well, "landslide" :woohoo:
She then did "Stand Back" and "Dreams" back-to-back, although "Dreams" wasn't shown live (which we later found out)...
I absolutely loved "Stand Back" - she tore it UP!! It's too bad you guys didn't get a chance to see the twirling at home, it was awesome.. she definately had a lot of energy during it... :nod"
All in all, she seemed to be really happy out there today.. I didn't really know what to expect this morning and really didn't have any expectations on her.. But she seemed to be in good spirits and it definately showed in her performance... vocally she sounded great, and was very much in the moment..
I'm sooo glad I decided to go to this today... Stevie Nicks, New York City, free concert, 2nd row.. hellz yeah, so glad I didn't miss this... i had a total blast...
So now, ok, who wants to send me a copy of the show? :wavey:

Thanks for the review. I taped it and was going to make copied, but alas, I don't think it copied. I'm at my parent's house and it won't play back. I will have to take it home to see.

Brian, I got to see you, too, :xoxo: and the show was as fabulous as you said it was ~ I especially enjoyed seeing Stevie in her black boots! Stevie's voice sounded so wonderful. Her voice hit some high notes on 'Dreams' that I haven't heard in quite a while, and I *loved* her dancing during 'Stand Back'! 'Landslide' was great too ~ she always delivers that song so well.
Did you notice that virtually everyone in the audience was singing along with her, and so into the whole thing with her? What kind of artist has that kind of a presence with their fans, you know? It's so great to see that.
If I can host anything you'd like to put up, remember I'm always happy to do that, bandwidth willing! I'm so glad you got to be there!!!

It was so nice to see some Ledgies there. Brian, you of course we're adorable. I'm glad you got to represent on Stand Back. Too bad you didn't have enough room to do your fabulous SB kicks. :p
I saw Kelly too. Did you know that woman on your right? I saw give her sort a "look", but maybe I'm just imagining things.

Totally! At first I wasn't sure how many Stevie fans were actually there.. It seemed like a mixed crowd of fans and just plain ole Today Show junkies
but after a little bit, it was pretty obvious the place was packed with Stevie fans... i loved the energy and the fact that it felt like we were in a tiny little venue seeing Stevie in a club or something.. i never experienced that before...
oh, and i was actually comtemplating recording the show, but decided against it.. I really just wanted to go there, with no pressure, and just have fun - which i did, so i have no regrets... :)

Hey Brit :wavey:
actually, Ed was to my right, so he would be highly insulted that you called him a girl :p
but seriously, the girl to my left? the one holding the sign? Actually, she was pretty cool... we chatted a little bit before the show.. she drove all the way from Rhode Island by herself this morning just to be there... really cool chick... there were a couple of "i am better than all of you because i was here before anyone of you" women standing in front of me who weren't too pleasant, so maybe I was giving one of them dirty looks.. hehe, it's possible ;)
and yes, I would have loved to have done some of my SB high kicks, but i didn't want to hurt Ed's chins, so i decided against it :D

Whoah there... might I make a few clarifications...
I don't think being called "a girl" is a degrading thing, unlike the rest of y'all insecure guys out there. Not that anyone would make that mistake, mind you. Secondly, I have one, uno, ein, un CHIN, thank you very much, Brian. :wavey:

I see that you left out the part where Muriel had us running furiously from 42nd and Madison to 48th and 6th (spilling my coffee on the sidewalk in the process) after she left some cryptic message about Stevie doing another song (long after we had left Rockefeller Plaza). We ran all the way back to find the Plaza empty... So Stevie didn't go up to the crowd and shake hands during breaks like she and Lindsey did when FM were there in 2003? I'm surprised. I guess with all the stuff going on (construction of homes and brining in the pooches) there was no time for a little meet/greet with fans up front.

None, nada, not that it would have made any difference to me. It was no accident that the front of the audience was filled with the girls, er, "boys" :p from "Chicago" along with Brooke Shields. So it's not like any of us "commoners" would have had any interaction with her anyway.
for the review. I taped the show as I'm at work, but I was reading the play by play thread as it was happening live. I also watched the video on-line of Stand Back (while the boss was out), but didn't watch any other ones. Didn't want to press my luck. It's nice to know what went on before the actual concert. Can't wait to watch my tape tonight. Look forward to seeing the pics.

I just finished watching my tape from this AM, and I have to say this. For any of us who were worried about her or had any doubts about her rebounding from her Dad's death in timely fashion, whoa! I thought she looked and sounded great! She really seemed to feed off of the crowd and to have a helluva time up there on the stage--it's obvious that she LOVES singing live and loves her fans, and will probably be touring and singing til she's on her last pair of Reeboks :]
Also, to any of you Ledgies who were there----can you describe yourselves or point out where you were in the tape? I'd love to meet you all by seeing you on the video :wavey:

Would like to post this quote from "Go Ahead Lily (Hit it...)" for
obvious reasons -
"She's home now;
She says, 'I've gone far beyond that song.'
She says, 'rock and roll ballerina -
Where else would she go?'
He knows his daughter, says...
Where does she live?
He says, 'Oh, up there somewhere.'
Then he says, 'Go ahead, lily
Hit it,
Hit the stage, dancin'...go on.'"
Ain't that just EXACTLY what the Belladonna Lily just did???? :o

Hey all, just got back from NYC a little while ago... :whew: what a morning!! :woohoo:
:wavey:
Glad you had fun... wish I could have been there. Just saw the video on MSNBC.com, I was watching for you but didn't see you... I'll put my glasses on and watch it again.
& I got down right in front of the TV (because I'm nearsighted). Stevie looked great & sounded great, too. Awww & I want all the dogs there. (My husband would never allow that. The one we have now is enough so he says.) They all seemed so good & well behaved & they were so cute. It was so nice of Stevie to give the wounded men & women ipods. What a good idea! Great show. You all are right about Brooke. She seems like she's still on her meds, but I saw her on Oprah I think it was & she said that she's getting off of them because she wants to have another baby. Hmmmm.... maybe not yet.
I wish I knew what all you fellow Ledgies looked like. They showed the audience quite a bit. Any of you the young, blonde haired girl in front? She seemed to know all of Stevie's songs. Yeah, that young guy with the sign, he did look a little like Scott Stapp, formerly of Creed.
And thanks to all the Ledgies who posted the play by play as the show was on.

I tried to call but I didnt honestly think you would get up and leave at 3:00 AM....
I have to say...Brian..you were so sweet! I have the entire thing on vhs now..I have to convert to dvd. I wish the hubby would have taped it right to our computer. Damn him.
Uh...that had to be the best thing I have ever seen. I swear the soundcheck was my favorite part!!! I have some very very cute sunglass/hair in pony tail photos and one without makeup from very close up. I can send them to someone to post, as i now figured out how to do that. I still do not know how to post. Please no bashing the sans makeup. she actually looked quite adorable and the lady behind me could not believe she was 57. (Today show fan..no idea who stevie is....she thought she was married to that "great guitarist with the curly hair) :o
Anyway...Stevie seemed soo genuinely happy and that did my heart good. She was so into the performance and Landslide brought many to tears, including Brooke, Katie, me and a variety of other people. She was shaking her thang to Stand Back like never before.
I also missed the damn dog part because we in the plaza could not hear her interview with Katie. It kept cutting in and out so we had no idea she was going to go across the street and hold the doggies.
All in all, it might just be my favorite Stevie related thing I have ever done. Well, after Vegas. The FM one was just different somehow and I like Stevie's appearance MUCH more. She sounded perfect too, unlike the SYW performance.

I don't care that much about the quality. If you get the whole Stevie segment on DVD I would love to get a copy!
Here is a link to my DVD trade page. Just send me a PM.

During the first chorus of "Stand back", look for a guy wearing a blue and white yankees cap.. that's me  :wavey:
I saw you, I saw you!! :D
I really wish I could have been there. It's been three months since I saw her in concert, and I miss her. Isn't that wierd? :D
I'd love to hear Miss Sharona sing Landslide, I'll bet that was a great treat!

Brian - the women in front of us (complaining the whole time)...we ran in to them later and they were MAD...yeah, because THEY were there at 4 am and the rest of us came 2 hours later and were talking too loudly in back of them...yeah, okay then...but at least you didn't have to deal with the woman in back of me (not the monkey-see monkey-do lady) the one that sang the first half of Stand Back in my ear....ugggghhhhh

 I knew I heard them babbling about something... awww, too bad they had a problem with people talking before a concert
next time they can put cotton in their ears to help avoid getting mad

Not at all! It's also been about three months for me, and I'm going through some major Stevie withdrawal! Couldn't get the day off to go to NYC! :( :distress:
