Who was more stoned at the Jones Beach RAL show? Stevie or the guy behind the video camera who couldn't hold the damn thing still for even ten seconds at a time?

Everybody's always on Stevie's case about those old days, but judging by these old videos, her fans were a lot more stoned than she ever was.

This is annoying, this camera work. It induces migraine.

Ah, yes, the devil. Usually he stays in the penthouse suite of my soul, but lately he's taken up residence in my left thigh.

This might go down as one of music's biggest travesties, this and the fact that there is no sound board of this show floating around.

David who is the lady in the b&w pic in your footer? She's magnificent. It looks very much like Sade to me, but I realize that is not her as you are making a reference to New Orleans so I'm assuming it's an R&B singer or a blues singer? (I DO love Sade by the way...)

Never a truer statement has been made. Everyone I know of that (still) does drugs are fairly self-absorbed, dramatic and sometimes evil hearted. Difficult for me to be around for any length of time. Pity the fools.

there is the line
" Please don't confront me with my failures, I'm aware of them..."

The first time I was stoned was at Stevie's Wild Heart show in Houston when I was 14, and I *wasn't* smoking. The lights went down, and this great cloud rose to our seats in the rafters.

Also, a couple at the bottom of our section pulled out a baggie filled with joints, and then proceeded to play "99 Doobies on the Wall". A few even made it all the way up to us. My Mom would reach across me and my best friend, take the joint, and then pass it on to the person next to her. By the end of the show, we so so bombed just from the contact high that we wandered around the parking complex reliving the concert and laughing hysterically. It took us more than 2 hours to find the car.

Does that answer your question?

You say that like it's a bad thing. However, I would say the same thing about organized religion, but I guess that's a conversation best suited to the Chit Chat forum.

Just let me light up, and I'll meet you over there.

Ive heard that this show and the Dallas 86 videos are pretty bad. I guess the only good one that will surface will be Iowa. Too Bad no one ever found the rest of the Nebraska video, that would have been GREAT!

Nothing is worse than Iowa 87, however. (quality wise)

I smoke two joints in the morning
I smoke two joints at night
I smoke two joints in the afternoon
It make me feel alright
I smoke two joints in time of peace
And too in time of war
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints
And then I smoke two more.

I don't care how lit she was... she is still the greatest.

ciao!

Does that answer your question? :laugh:Well, no ... although it was an interesting anecdote. But my question was actually rhetorical: I was expressing my frustration over the incompetent person who filmed that Jones Beach video. It is mind-bogglingly bad.

Obviously you're talking about a show that was shot by an amateur, not intended for release. So...my question is, what do you expect?

What did you expect going into it? The second coming of Godard? It's silly, lightweight fluff that I thought had quite a few chuckles.

I hope they shot up because it was so visible in film, and not because people were looking for a cure-all.

My grandmother had hip replacement surgery about 10 years ago, so as a joke I got one of the small travel bottles of WD-40 and make a fake label to read "Grandma's No-Squeak Hip Spray". She showed it to her nurse, and the nurse freaked out, not realizing it was a joke. Seems people do actually use WD-40 as some sort of ointment or something.

And I thought the movie was adorable, too. Especially the grandmother and the scene where all the bridesmaids are getting Toula ready for her wedding.

"I look like a snow monster!!!"
