I notice that Stevie has some trace edema to her left face. Sorry, that's coming from a nurse's view. :wavey:

$2,000 big ones for that? sorry, no real offense to the artist, but this is the kinda crap that gives portraiture artists a bad, & often "chessy" stereotype.... I know portraits/likenesses are a bitch to do sometimes, but damn, she didn't have to make the poor woman look like she's got lock-jaw, or down-syndrome, .... something fierce.... :distress: (i know.... i'm going to hell for that one).... one eye's bigger than the other & a tad slanted....

I have to chime in and say that that one is quite lovely compared to the pencil style crap on note-paper we have been seeing listed on Ebay. Still, $2000?????
BUT......even w/ the criticism, that artist has it going on. WAY better than anything I have seen on Ebay in a while. Kudos to their effort.

the woman does have some skills, I'll give her that.... I guess its the style that I don't care for, in school we're taught to never paint like that. I know the artist isn't some great master, but take a look at a Cassatt or a Sargent portrait.... and then to auction it for $2000 to people who might not know any better & you'll see why this annoys me. I looked at her other paintings, some are actually way better than this one. Your right though, I don't think I've seen anything more ridiculous than that joker who tried to pawn off his/her scrap paper masterpieces of Stevie

I have to chime in here --- there are some of her Stevie paintings which are very nice-- I saw one she did from the OSTM era which was almost the same as the airbrushed picture from the back of the OSTM album. I believe Stevie has commissioned Samantha October Wendell to do some portraits of herself.
One the other hand, some of the portraits I have seen, Stevie looks a little disproportioned. Her hands are really huge and manly looking, or there are other things which just don't look right.
Because of the size of this painting, which is considerably smaller than her other Stevie paintings, fair market value of this painting is in the $1000 - $1200 range. $2000? This seller is nuts! And so is anyone who buys it at that price.
Personally I don't like this one. JMO.

I dunno. It's nice enough. I quite like the Tango thing. But still ... $2000? Fair play to them all the same
If anyone's looking for Stevie art, Johanna Pieterson is your best bet. It's really beautiful stuff. Everyone should have a look. www.johannas-art.com

That pic is actually me when I was 4 at my little sister's birthday party (drinking some "Cawfee").... I actually used to play a little, but my grandpop rarely let us use this one, which is at his house, cause all the kids would pound on the damn keys, & my cousin eventually broke one of them.... Thanks for thinking that was Stevie, even though her baby pics probably look nothing like mine

I don't know. I only collect the stuff that was "officially issued" (Not counting demos.... of course :D ) Fan art is okay, but not my thing. Unless the fan art was used for soemthing semi officail (Like fanclub conventions...etc). I have a few given to me as gifts, and so they have meaning in that way, but overall...eh on fan art.

thanks... i wasn't too sure if many people know what lock-jaw is ~(according to my grandpop) something you got way back then, when you shaved w/ a rusty razor & cut yourself, causing your jaw to lock permenently~ normally this wouldn't happen to a woman, but I had to say it :p

Man, I'd rather hang a Thomas Kinkade rather than that!
That's just not very good art and definitely not worth $2000K! The sketch Johnny Stew put up is far, far better than that - he should sell it on eBay and make some big $$!

So SPEAKING of paintings!!! (heh-heh!)
Did Stevie do the one featured in your post? ( The one from the
publicity photo with her lying on her dragon couch. )
I notice that it says "Stevie" on it.
Anyway I guess I'm in a total minority here, but in my opinion the
painting from e-bay is a dead ringer, of what she looked like
back then. I've seen the original photograph
that the painting was based on ( in the album ) and to me they look
stunningly similar. I also, personally, do agree with the asking price,
since it was used for a Stevie Nicks album somewhere down the line.
But I admit I'm not an art critic. I guess beauty is in the eye of the
beholder! LOL!

I notice that it says "Stevie" on it. No, I wish! I took the original photograph and jazzed it up a bit in Paint Shop Pro. I was just playing around and sort of liked it, so I made it my sig. :)
