Catchy little tune, not her best as far as I'm concerned. One of my least favorites on the album. It's not bad by any means, it's just that The Wild Heart album is stellar & this just isn't as good as the rest. I do like the lyric:
"You were gone...you were gone from me
When I remember someone...I remember their dreams"
and the way she sings it with the beat.
The music is happy & upbeat, makes me smile. Love the piano & percussion. Live - I like that she has something a bit more fast-paced in the set, but I wouldn't be too upset if she dropped it to be honest. One thing that annoys me is that she doesn't go high anymore on the last:
"Enchanted...Ooo...you thought you saw something in my eyes
Enchanted...it's a shame that you wanted me...
You didn't try...
Enchanted...well it's just a voice thru the night
Enchanted...well I hope you make it..."
Kind of blah after hearing it over & over again. She rarely sings it any differently - no vocal inflections, lyric changes, etc.

I am not too fond of it on the album, but I do think it makes a great opener or something for her to... I guess you can call it... rock out?

1 tambo. This is one Stevie song I honestly dislike and I can't even say I like the lyrics and not the music. Besides Gate & Garden it's the worst song on WH. I also don't like that she does it live now. I mean out of all her great songs why does she continue to do this one which is mediocre at best? It might be fun and upbeat but musicially it's just not a high quality song IMO. Pretty annoying actually. The only part I LOVE are the lyrics:
"Love don't mean what it says at all
And destiny says that I'm destined to fall..."
Yeah I dig that line but better in Destiny (not a great song either).

When I first listened to the whole of WH at once, earlier this year, I was sooooooo happy when this song came on. The ones before it were so boring to me. I didn't like it that much before that, but now I like it pretty well. I like when everything stops but her and...the drums? the "well, you were gone you" part? heh. okay. I gave it 3 or 4, I forget. For me, if a song is fast, that really gives it a lot of extra points.
Oh, and I listened to WH again this weekend, and I'll be damned if I still don't like it that much. :wavey:

I enjoy the music and the fact that it's an upbeat song (so few and far between in Stevie's catalog.) A good song on a great album.

I know. I don't know what it is...I feel there's a LOT of slower songs on there, and that some of the songs lack dynamics. (gate and garden, sable on blond, another one). It's kind of a pretty little album, and of course SB rocks my socks, but....I dunno....probably I have to listen to it more. Also, it seems like it's over fast, like there's not much too it. whatevs. I'll try again and again. :woohoo:

I do like this song (4 tambos) and I also like it because she rocks out on the tambo for this one.

I like it because it is moderate to fast, and I like Piano. Wish I could PLAY the piano, but I suppose being given a singing voice is good enough.
Much love,

And don't forget Stevie's masterpiece, best ballad ever Beauty and the Beast. WH gets major kudos from me just for having SB and BATB, two of my favorite songs of all time.

Oh...right. That one is good. I listen to it (BATB) fairly sparely though. But I got it ages ago when I got Timespace...

The title "Enchanted" never fit the music to me. The title is too "out there" for the music, which has a "basic" rock sound.. even starting with a 1, 2, 3, 4 count off. The word "enchanted" sounds out of place throughout the song. I think the live version sounds a little better.
Maybe I was expecting too much after "Bella Donna", but much of the Wild Heart did not click with me. Stand Back and If Anyone Falls were great! I thought Gate and Garden, Enchanted and B&B were so lame. Even the album cover and packaging was lacking in imagination. This was one time I had to agree with the critics. Also, I think this LP was a turning point for SN. :wavey:

This is one of my favorites on WH, after "Gate and Garden" and "Sable on Blond." It never stops being fun for me. I also love to think that she's being completely sarcastic when she says "I hope you make it." It's like her version of "The Ledge," in a way. I like to think of most of the song as a big "Screw you" kind of thing.

I gave it 3 tambos....it's an o.k. song, but I have to be in the mood for it.

I really like this song. I love the uptempo beat and it's just a fun song to me. I think it's also been a good song for Stevie to do live but I don't think she needs to keep doing every tour now.

Yep, I always heard it that way, too. "F*ck you, Lindsey!" (Well since all of her songs are about him, this one would apply.)
I gave it 5 tambos coz it's the kind of song you hear once and it's in your head for the rest of the day. It's got a bite and it's catchy. SB is awesome of course but we've all heard it a million times. I like the balance of something upbeat that is not SB.

3 Tambos for me. I think it's the worst song on TWH and I still really like it. I do however, prefer Destiny.

I LOVE Enchanted! It is a perfect little Stevie song and I am soooo happy that she stopped opening with, "Outside the Rain" cuz I was getting really tired of that song. It is a great show opener for her.

A great uptempo number that has deserved its place in the setlist even today. An appropriate opener for the Vegas shows.

I love this tune...I think it says alot about who she is- where she wants to be and where she ends up. It is such an ego song, don't 'cha think?
I love the idea that she thinks she is so ENCHANTING
(And she is!! )
I prefer it to "Destiny Rules", but I really think it is the same song- just updates, on a few lines now that some years have gone by...
I also think the TWH was such a lush, and "arranged" produced albulm that she wanted to have something that sounded "Live" and fun to sing along too...and she gets that with Enchanted

3Tambos...
...just for the fact that it replaced OTR as the set opener. Not a happy camper about that.

4 tambos from me. I love it, its a happy bouncy song that I like dancing around to and singing along with loudly!
Ok, not the most stunning song Stevie has ever produced, but still a great song!

Always loved this song. In fact, The Wild Heart album is the album that really got me hooked on Stevie.

Yep, I always heard it that way, too. "F*ck you, Lindsey!" (Well since all of her songs are about him, this one would apply.)Yeah, I tend to think of it that way, but then I read somewhere that it was written about some guy who was interested in her when she was dating Lindsey and she wasn't going to leave Lindsey for him or something like that, plus he was a loser, etc. That could be wrong, though, obviously.
As a whole, The Wild Heart is her worst album (I even like Street Angel better! ). And 'Enchanted' is probably the worst song after 'Sable On Blonde'. :sorry:

Never cared for this one, live, or on the CD. "Sable On Blonde" Far Far blows it AWAY, in my opinion, and is much more FUN to sing...it ROCKS!~Barbara
