Hi everyone! Been lurking for awhile and finally decided to join in.
Ok, so does anyone remmeber in 98 when she appeared on Letterman?
Did they talk about how in the 80s he had an obssesion about her appearing on his show and he would joke about her weasel management and show her video for I cant Wait over and over?
I cant recall if they did or not. I do recall her giving a very unexpected and awesome performance of HAEWAFY.
I also recall him asking her about Clinton and she said something like it was a bit scary knowing that someone her age,50ish, was running the country, which got an agreemnet and laugh out of Letterman.
BTW I know this is trivial in light of her loss, but its important to keep things going too.

Stevie did his show prior to that for Street Angel as I remember her singing Blue Denim on his show. Not sure if that was mentioned, but it could have been.

You're actually combining two of her Letterman appearances in your memory... they discussed "Weasel Management" and Clinton when she appeared on his show in 1993 (she performed "Blue Denim"), and she sang "Has Anyone Ever Written" when she appeared on his show in '98.
All of her appearances with David were fun... they have a great chemistry, and he brings out her playful, flirtatious side. :D

Almost as much as when she's on Mark & Brian. Christ, they can get her going.
I recently watched the 98 Letterman performance. She was totally adorable when he talked about when they were married, she got so embarrassed and put her hands over her face, turned red and giggled like a schoolgirl. Very cute.
The clip from that show is posted on this site:

I can remember one time he introduced her as "my wife from the late 70's
He brought up their marriage from the 70's when Stevie and Lindsey were on for the Grammy performances in early 98, Lindsey looked like he didn't understand the joke....which I guess is understandable ;)

Isn't this from the 98 appearance? Not verbatim...
Dave: "I don't wanna travel with the rest of the Fleetwood Macs. I wanna travel with you."
Stevie: "With me?"
Dave: "With you."

Pretty close, I think. I believe she invited him to come along;)

I was dying when he said that.

Oh my gosh, I just saw that '98 Letterman clip (thanks for the link, Cour!) and she's so cute! I was laughing so hard when she had her hands on her face chuckling at what Dave said.
I also love the 2001 Letterman clip where he asks her about Survivor, and she goes, "I would not survive." LOL!

Oh nuts. My computer won't play these! Boo hiss. Anywhere else I can find these clips so that I don't have to play them in Real Player? I think thats the problem...
Was it Letterman in 98 that asked Stevie "paper or plastic"? I remember this being funny...

The "paper or plastic" thing was Leno - with Stevie and Sheryl Crow. One of his better interviews with her, considering he's the WORST person to interview Stevie, imo....remember Street Angel when all he could talk about was her hair? I wanted to smack him!

Ah right...silly me. I thought Stevie's response to that was so cute..but I agree, Leno is kind of a schmuck sometimes.
Letterman makes her blush and speechless, and that's so funny! Stevie? Speechless?

My Word - I watched some of the Enchanted Tour TV stuff and her voice was just a zinger on that tour  Listen to SB on Leno - she sounds terrific!!!!!!!!!!
Also, that Big Love harmony gave me chills when I heard it the first time and still does. Lord when she takes a notion

Her voice was fucking fabulous on that tour. She kicked ass. I think it's probably due to it being her first solo tour in four years and being right after her big comeback.

I've been saying it for a while, but if he insists on keeping Big Love in the set for every Mac show, he needs to have her sing on it with him. It's just so damned good when she jumps in for the chorus.

I agree. Leno is not anywhere near the caliber of Letterman. :distress:
She didn't even know what the hell he was talking about with "paper or plastic." Bless her heart.

A little off topic, but....on the Letterman interview she mentions that she has her own bus, but in the Australia interview (I think) she says that Fleewood Mac has never done the bus thing. So does she just do the bus when she's solo???

Maybe it's just me, but I can't get them to work. Yes, I have Real Player. I'm dying to see practically everything on that page.

Also - she was talking about FM in that interview - and even then, her first tour with the Mac was not on a private plane. According to them and her, she slept on amps, etc.
She also did the bus thing a little for Enchanted - at least she said so in the Leno interview - but she did take a few provate planes on that tour as well, so I heard.

I hope it had authentic plastic wood grain paneling and was lime green   Didn't La Nicks also mention that FM pulled up to the ijn these huge cadillac limos for their first meeting, when she was still in her waitress outfit  Oh the 70's.

Definitely. The Letterman and RaRHoF versions of Big Love were really fantastic. Are there more with her singing it?

Whitney Houston's bus?
No, that would be the "crack is whack express." Remember, she was talking about how the boys' bus had video games and the girls' bus was full of chiffon and fairy dust - and I'm sure she used the word "fabulous" in there also. :p

One of them was the disco bus - I think it was the girls' bus. The boys had the Ninetendo bus. There was that comment about in her bus, they listen to the music SHE wants to listen to, which drew applause

Street Angel (I think) - and I think it was Leno because on Letterman she talked about the Clinton thing.

I really like Stand Back from Leno 98. All that idiot could talk about was 5 seconds of the box set then asking if Stand Back was her favorite to do on stage. She said "Its one of my favorites". Shocker there.

Street Angel! I have the Letterman and Leno performances and interviews on a tape back to back. It's clear in my mind. Love the Leno interview especially the hair part. "It's soft!"

David Letterman did make fun of Stevie quite a lot on his show and would often run the "I Can't Wait" or "Stand Back" (treadmill scene) videos while joking about her. If I remember correctly, he even read one of her publicists' letters stating something like "I don't know why you would want someone like Stevie on your show?" The response elicited a snide remark from David, as well as a round of laughs from the audience.
I don't know if anyone else remembers this, but in the early 90's David Letterman said something about being phoned by a famous person who was in tears and asked him to stop making fun of him or her on his show. According to David, he promised to cease the ongoing jokes and told the audience he would not reveal the performer's identity.
Since Stevie was the butt of many of his long running jokes, I have always thought it might have been she who phoned him. Coincidentally, he did stop taunting her after that show and Stevie did appeared on his show a few years later.

Someone, somewhere, mentioned traveling in a station wagon on that first Mac tour.
I found this:
(August 23) On this day in 1975, Fleetwood Mac's self-titled album entered the charts as the band toured the States in two station wagons, opening for Loggins & Messina. It was the former blues band's first record with pop-oriented songwriters Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, and 54 weeks later the multi-million selling album would hit #1.
and this unrelated but on same page:
(August 28) On this day in 1986, Stevie Nicks, Neil Young, and Mick Fleetwood performed in Long Beach at a concert billed "Get Tough on Toxics." Hmmm... wonder if it worked?
The second one? LOL. Actually LOL to both of them. Here's the link:
