Rockin' song! Never realized that she wrote this one with Sandy Stewart until I just re-read the liner notes. Her vocals are so, so strong on this one. Love the way her vibrato really comes out, esp. on "well, there's one thing that IIIIIIIIIIIIIII'D like to say..." And the end "well if it's MMMMEEEEEE that's drivin you to this MMMAAADDDness..." Too cool.
I like the entire song; the line "come back, little boy" used to bother me a tad, but it's just too fun to sing (yell) along to so I got over it.
I think this would have been kickass live back in the day, but I have no desire to see her attempt it now. It wouldn't have enough power, IMO, and I would surely be disappointed.

If there was one song I would have liked her to perform on the Rock A Little tour, it was this one.

This song is money!
Best lyrics:
I can turn all your music on
I can make you feel alive
I am gone but I'm never gone from you
It was just the first time...
I also like the placement of the song, in between I Will Run To You and Sable on Blonde.....the best part of the album, IMO.
Every album has a rocked out song...and this one is among her best in the department.

I also really like this song
Think it's all about Lindsey and his (insane period) and the "come back little boy"- Yup, that's Lindsey too...
In fact I think it should be called :
Nothing Ever Changes, Lindsey!!
Love it- but I am partial to the songs that they sing back and forth to each other- She write one, he writes one...they say "Oh it's about a lot of different things"...but I know the truth. It's all about each other.
So there!
the never opinionated,

My favorite freaking Stevie Solo Song EVER (next to Edge especially whenb its live but for the sake of emphasis here its my favorite) I even dig the sax solo. But my absolute favorite part of the song is what you pointed out Paula, the theres one thing that IIIIIII DDDD Like to SAY AY. She is just freaking FIERCE on this song. I like how she says little girl instead of little boy on the demo of this song.

I love "I am gone but I'm never gone from you."

HOLY HELL I LOVE THIS SONG!! When I first bought the WH album I didn't like NEC. I skipped it for the longest time. Then a friend of mine was telling me her little 3 year old daughter loved this song from WH and would always sing and dance to it so I was like eh, better go back and give it another chance. Well I am soooo glad I did. It is now one of my favorite songs. Another one of those I listen to over and over. I love those two notes during "Come back, little boy" doo doo, doo doo (does that make sense? lol). I also love the verses and the choruses. Great dance song, great energy. It's also a very sexsay song. Oh God I love it so much (ok no orgasms at work). Agree with Curtis, the best lines of the song are:
I can turn all your music on
I can make you feel alive
I am gone but I'm never gone from you
It was just the first time...
One thing I don't like about when Stevie collaborates with people is that I don't always know who wrote the music and who wrote the lyrics or if the both wrote music and lyrics together, etc. Like did Sandy write the music for this and Stevie the lyrics or was it all Sandy? I know some of them like I Can't wait which Stevie wrote lyrics to a track that was already written but some of the others are not clear.

"Is it me! that's driving you to this madness!"
Fantastic opening line. Not the best tune on WH but rocking nonetheless.
Amazing vocal too.

One of the least favourite TWH tunes for me, but since it's my favourite Stevie album even this one works. Not the most memorable thing she's done, though.

Somehow...yes, it does! I love it too - makes it sound urgent.

Thanks for responding to my posts Paula. I really appriciate it. I know some of them can be long-winded in response to specific songs but I always have a lot to say, just like IRL lol.

Well, I only respond to you because I agree. :D Kidding of course.
You're one of the more active posters on these threads & you go into a lot of detail about why you do or don't like a song. I appreciate it. And I really do usually agree with you.

WHEW!!! That part is awesome. I love this song. All her vocals for the album really were "wild".

Yeah, she can't do it now- which is too bad, because she should have done it when her voice still had the horsepower to pull it off.

I think The Wild Heart would have been even better if this one had been switched out for Violet and Blue.Maybe it was a time thing like Silver Springs?

I LOVE this song. My favorite song from WH. It did take time. I just didn't pay much attention to it at first. Good thing I did, because it's a great song!

No I Will Run to You? :( I think I am in the minority that loves that song. Second favorite on the album after Nothing Ever Changes.

Loved it from the first time I heard it. My mother only really likes Stevie's faster songs so I made her a disc with this on it. She now thinks this is one of Stevie's best.

I love this song. The Wild Heart album is my favorite, along with Trouble in Shangri-la, so naturally I love this rocker.
I adore the lyric Curtis posted...I bet she does turn all his music on. I also love the line "take a look at your life and your lovers"....she practically foams at the mouth..the venom and passion in her voice is great. It's always an amazing song when Stevie casually refers to her pale shadows. :> )

There are few songs of Stevie's that I don't like (very few) so yes, I do like this one a lot. WH is a great album and I think even better than Belladonna. The pale shadow part is eerie. I always thought she was referring to herself as the pale shadow due to the drug abuse (a pale shadow of a woman she used to be). That is one term I could always relate to and know that feeling all too well. Anyway, great song!
