I have a question for those of you with boots and/or old enough to have gone to FM shows in the 70's.

When was the last tour that Stevie was able to hit the high notes on Dreams and Rhiannon?

Specifically, when did she hit the high notes on "had" from "..what you had" and "life" and "stay" from "...all your life" and "...would you stay"?

Hope the question makes sense and thanks to anyone who has the answer.

I am not the king bootleg monster, but the last time I heard a falsetto note in Dreams was the Tusk Tour. The last time I heard her do the original melody line on Rhiannon was Mirage. And I think that version was transposed down at least a step.

Basically, a HELL of a long time ago.

Yeah, it's been decades. I love how concert reviewers still say "well, she can't hit the high notes anymore..." Um, she hasn't hit the high notes in more than 20 years, it's not like she suddenly stopped last week.

She hit some very very high ones on The Enchanted Tour as well as the SA tour. But, even those were not the 70's levels.

Thanks for the answers. I don't recall that melody line on the Mirage Rhiannon but I haven't heard it in so long. I know I didn't like that version.

Thanks for the answers. I don't recall that melody line on the Mirage Rhiannon but I haven't heard it in so long. I know I didn't like that version. The shows up through May 1977 all feature the high "life" on "Rhiannon," but they're gone by the end of June shows (like Madison Square Garden).

I don't remember with "Dreams," but there are two parts we're talking about: "It's only RIGHT" & "And what you HAD." The first part was dropped I guess somewhere along the Tusk tour from a high C to the A below it, & dropped to the G below that on the Rock a Little tour, where it's been ever since.

Thanks..I forgot about the "It's only right" part.

Why do you think the high "life" dropped in June, '77? Did Stevie start having her throat problems that year?

originally posted by Rickypt Why do you think the high "life" dropped in June, '77? Did Stevie start having her throat problems that year A few weeks of shows were postponed or cancelled near the start of the Rumours tour due to her throat problems and she has cited this as the time her voice changed.IMO the biggest change occured between 1981 and 1985 though.
