:wavey: Well, I haven't posted all week, cause I've been working crazy hours.... But somehow I managed to have a few "Stevie" moments to get me through it all.
The other day I was listening to 'Rhiannon Live', and I just randomly looked out my window, & three starlings all took off together... and I swear this must also be "Rhiannon" week, because I got into the car yesterday, turned on the radio, & 'Rhiannon' was playing, & just before it ended, I passed a street called Welsh Road.... :)
The other moment is actually quite adorable.... I work at a summer day camp for kids 5-12, this week was "Boys vs. Girls Week", so they were playing alot of games & stuff.... Anyway, they had to line up facing each other, I was helping the girls, and they kept moving up.... So I kept yelling, "you girls need to stand back.... if you don't stand back, we're not gonna play the game... Now I said to stand back!" Well, out of nowhere, this one little girl starts hopping up & down, singing "Stand back, Stand back! It's alright, alright! Cause we're standing in a line, standing in a line....." It was sooo friggin cute!!!
Oh, BTW.... the Girls Won!

That is cute. It always makes me happy when kids know Stevie.
This week, I heard "Paper Doll" in Kroger's and "Thrown Down" at Outback Steakhouse.

Awesome Stevie week!!! Gotta love that lil girl (or her parents good music taste)
Doesn't it seem like sometimes there is just a Stevie Vibe going on?
MY WEEK,
I'm reading High Plains Tango, a book that has nothing to do with Stevie Nicks written by Robert James Waller a kinda cowboy poet. Anyhoo the first sentence is now part of my signature. This book's main storyline is so Stevie/Lindsey it's weird.
My daughter is using JohhnyStew's "Tusk mix", with his permission of course, as a baton routine for competition. She has been practicing non-stop in my back yard. AWESOME routine btw~ even better than her "Don't Stop" routine she took to nationals last year....sorry I had to brag :sorry: ;)
Her HS band is also doing a Fleetwood Mac montage for football halftime shows. Since this is band camp week and I live very close to the school I hear FM all day long from the practice fields. I went to see how it was going and the flag corps all have Rhiannon dresses, ribbon strewn tambo's and Stevie Boots. The drummers want Mick's dangly balls but the band director doesn't know how well that will go over. I’ve been begging for this since my daughter got into HS, the director finally relented after the kids fell in love with "Tusk" after hearing JohnnyStews mix. :blob2:

I was at Blockbuster & my friend kept picking up DVDs to read the backs. I drove her crazy with all the Stevie mentions. (She picked up Gypsy83, Practical Magic, Fast Times, and several others.) Finally she shouted "Damn it, why don't we assume Stevie's involved in everything on the shelves and just pick out the damned movie!"

That's so cool! I'm in Colorguard, but our music is picked out by the band director and he doesn't even know me, so there's no way I could bug for us to do Tusk! We still have to pick out a lyrical song this year for competition season and I've been trying to find a good Mac/Stevie song! <333 Batons and flags

Are you kidding!!!??? Of course I will be taping them  If you are interested I would be glad to send you as copy. Actually depending on how large the file is I might do a YOUSENDIT thingy.
I'm so very excited not only that they will be doing it but even more so that they as a group requested Fleetwood Mac music for their halftime show. Every year this debate is very contentious and of course they normally go for contemporary bands and thumb their nose at anything older than three years old. Of course the band director has final say but he considers the overall opinion of the band. In fact, prior to this I think the song they most wanted to perform was Hollaback Girl.
I have to give kudos’ to this band director because he normally uses music the kids are not normally exposed to and tries to get them interested in things outside of POP culture. For instance last year the halftime show consisted of classic rock act like Led Zepplin and Deep Purple. Let me tell you these kids probably had no idea who these guys are!!! He not only gives them the song to learn but also helps them explore the genre with music theory and so on.
So this year they are getting a FM lesson complete with music theory, instrumentations, lyric interpretation, and the FM story. Not every kid has fallen in love with the music but a fair amount have. I dare say, even the band director has gained some respect for the band he told me a few years ago were corperate rock with the big eye roll.
Already the band has shipper and non-shipper factions…Lindsey heads…chiffon heads….and so on. Its like a bunch of mini-ledgies
I listen to them talking about Lindseys mastery...Stevies powerful lyrics..Peter Green...Christine..."freaky Mick" I am peppered with boot requests from some of the kids. They have listened to evwerything from bare trees too SYW, OOTC to TISL. It's just a great feeling sharing my obsession!!!!
I just think it's awesome that he can get these kids so excited about the music they play that he gets them to really listen and feel it. The same thing happens every year with who ever they are playing but this year its MY BAND and I am all warm and fuzzy about it.
Especially when I see 15 Stevie's on that field twirlin and one of them is my daughter. You know how Stevie always said her Rhainnon outfit was like a uniform and perfect for every body type, well she is right those girls all look great out there!! They got the GDW "shadow of a woman" hand gestures in the routine the High kicks, the tambo the boots, the hair.
They watched The Dance and God it was so freakin cute!!!! They were just in awe of Fleetwood Mac. When they saw Silver Springs the whole room was just dead quite..... sooo cool :) :) :) :) Those kids were in an absolute tizzy so much speculation and discussion about SS. hee hee too cute I say!!!

I too would love to see some video of this marching band and the flag corp Stevies. When I was a high school senior in 1981-82, I was never much of a football fan (though I am today) and our yearbook staff worked the concession stands at every home game. During halftime, I would take my break and watch the marching band and the twirlers (we had no flag corp). I wanted them so badly to play 'Tusk' but when I asked a friend, who played basoon, if they'd ever considered it, she said they would never do it because it was a "devil song". HUH? We had a great band, always placing first at competitions and stuff but they were very old school.
So yeah that whole FMac routine would be amazing to watch.
Oh and that little girl that started singing 'Stand Back' from the first post? coolest kid in the world.

This all sounds so cool. I'd love to see the pictures or tape...I want to see all these mini-Stevies!!!
Sharing the obsession is so much fun too, I remember the person who first gave me "Rumours" (My MIL-to-be), she was just so animated watching me fall in love with FM. Now I have been sharing my obsession with my little sister, and watching her twirl around the kitchen to Stand Back makes me grin so hard!!!

And in all seriousness, you should send one to Fleetwood Mac. It's just too bad you didn't record the students' reactions as they viewed The Dance. I think the Mac members would be so touched by all this.

I wish I did tape the The Dance viewing dumby me  The kids themselves have already talked about sending a tape to FM once they have the show perfect. Apart from the FM tribute, this show is just coming out so well and they are proud of themselves and they should sooo do this. If they don't, I WILL.....But where to send it?
One of the kids was joking around saying they should march right up to LB's and then SN's door perform the entire show and then DEMAND solo albums rather than a sit-in have a march-in until they relent  I thought that was cute. Maybe tomorrow I'll just tape what they have so far so you guys can get an idea of the show, if your interested.
During band camp the music director takes the hot afternoons as an opportunity to take the a long lunch break from marching and have the kids explore some aspect of the music. Yesterday the topic was TUSK, they listened to the album from beginning to end and discussed it along the way. He asked them to discuss things like: Why did Lindsey change the magic formula? He explained the punk revolution and how the music scene was changing. The change in Lb's look. The production of the album, Stevie's maturing song writing (the consensus being that some of her best work is on Tusk). They watched my copy of the Tusk video. I AM IN HEAVEN !!!!!!!
As far as a copy for everyone thats no problem as soon as this show is put together. I will be more than happy to send anyone who is interested copies.
There is some talk of building a web site with the show from some of the computer savvy kids, but its all just talk right now.
