great review, tiff. Your transpo problems at the beginning may give me nightmares. *never leave without your blades*
I love your Stevie moment. :woohoo:
red rocks looks phenomenal, I wish every venue looked like that. Your other photos were great, as per usual. You also aquired some unusual shots this time, thank you! :xoxo: stellar photos, truly. I thought some others were the best, but these are the best, too.:woohoo:
So glad you got to "hit it" at red rocks. (go head, Tiffy. It's about time, Tiffy. ).

Tiff, great review and pictures as always.

I noticed that the Gold Dust Woman shawl was on that holder thing. Did she actually put on a shawl herself of throw it there when she was done?

Nah, they really didn't turn out that great this time (or in Vegas). Much darker & grainier than the SYW tour. I don't get it, unless it's just lighting diffs. Thank you though :)

Yeah, she just throws it on the floor when she's done. When they were taking the stage apart Jill walked across it with a big laundry basket full of Stevie's shawls. I guess they gotta go somewhere, but I dunno, I suppose I expected something more... fabulous .

This venue is so beautiful. If you ever have a chance to see a show there, please take it. You drive up through some grassy hills dotted with sparse brush, and suddenly there are these mammoth red rocks jutting out of the ground. The road from the park entrance up to the actual amphitheatre twists and turns through all these hills with hiking trails and deer and gorgeous rock formations. We must have stopped every 5 feet to take some more pictures of the landscape. We get up to the lot a couple hours prior to the gates opening and find a primo parking space. The first thing I see when I get out of the car is the infamous "balcony" on the walkway up to the venue where Stevie waves to the fans on the Red Rocks vid. Hee. It hits me that we're really there and I immediately wish I had a pair of comically oversized sunglasses. We climb up the walkway to have a look around. They weren't kidding when they warned us it was quite a hike up to the amphitheatre.

I am so glad you liked it and got to experience it. Thank you for the beautiful photographs.

Hey Tiff, thanks for the review and pictures. I have been totally waiting to read how your Red Rocks experience went. hey Tiff-

Great photos again! I have a question though: Do you think they had Stevie come down to greet the crowd during Edge because that particular stage set up (like maybe the stage was too high)? Or do you see this happening at future shows - like this is how they are gonna do it from now on? (which I hope isn't the case, but it would pretty much eliminate stage rushing if the only people that got hand shakes were front-rowers with designated bracelets on  )

Hey Jamie! Actually the "stage" was only about 6 inches high... she didn't really didn't have to come down off anything, just walk forward past her microphone. If you were in the front row, you were pretty much on the level with Stevie & the band all night. I think the only reason they did wristbands here was because there is really nothing to separate the rows. There aren't proper seats... you just sit on the steps of the amphitheatre. The only barricades were the railing between the front row and Stevie, and a dinky little rope that was set up between first and second row (which everybody ducked under or jumped over at the end of Landslide). I doubt she will come down like that at other shows where there is a regular stage.

It's just the way the stage is set up at Red Rocks. Last time I saw Stevie there I was front row and she hugged me and we chatted for a moment. Then she let go of me and I burst into tears. :o

Anita and I were looking at Waddy's mic with all his picks still stuck on it, and the guy taking it down was kind enough to toss us a couple. They're white, with his name and "KEEP BACK 200 FEET" on them (?).

I wanted to get a pick from Waddy's stand in Dallas, but the guy took off with them in a hurry. Keep back 200 feet!! LMAO!! That's what it says on the backs of the shirts they wear on Rescue Me (the firefighters). Interesting. Perhaps he's a fan.

Ahhhhhhhh. Home at last. At one point I leaned over to Tiff and asked her "did you think today would ever get here?" She agreed that no, I don't think either of us did. It was amazing. Show wise, not the most stellar, but beautiful and special, yea amazing! Met some great people...again...and that venue. Coloradians are very lucky. Gorgeous! The hiking though can really take it outta yea. I was busting out the jokes left and right solely to avoid passing out. heehee.

Tiff does rule pic wise. As quicky as she took them, I can't believe the ones she got. I made hardcore effort to concentrate, and capture, and mine are blurry and dark. Hmmpfht! :distress:

I loved it. I forgot to note as Livia pointed out in her review, the sky was clear and the full moon was just so prominent and almost seemed like it changed colors throughout the night. The whole setting was really surreal and just made the show that much more spectacular.

I wondered if you were going, but didn't see you post in the RR thread. Were you there?

I used to hike at Red Rocks quite frequently about 15 years ago. I would run the stairs (I was in my 20's then) then walk back down. Lots of times I would be listening to my Walkman and the groundskeepers would be up there the morning after the show. One morning as I was doing my "fast walk" up the ramp I damn near tripped over this 4 foot long (beautifully colored) snake. Needless to say my "fast walk" soon turned into the high jump.
There are rattlers in the area and all kinds of wildlife but not so much now as they built C 470 and the area is more developed than it used to be.

Your airport looks like the top of a lemon meringue pie! But, yeah, it's cool. We had a great meal at that sit-down restaurant, Chef Jimmy's, in Terminal A. They had an entree called macaroni and cheesecake, which was a wedge of mac and cheese casserole w/ those curly onions on top. It was delicious, as was my sandwich and the spinach/artichoke dip. They have great lemonade too!

Thanks Pip. Do you know if he has a website link? I would like to see more of his work.

He just does it as a hobby. He initially made one for 'Stevie' in the band and then we were all asking him for one! He makes everything. He even made his John McVie Bass guitar!

Nah, they really didn't turn out that great this time (or in Vegas). Much darker & grainier than the SYW tour.

Nothing that can't be fixed in Photoshop

Tiff,
Since I decided not to go, I'm glad YOU got my ticket :)
The photos are awesome and great review.

..... She sort of acknowledged this later when she introduced Carlos by saying that he helped her through the times she couldn't stand or walk onstage, which those of us in Red Rocks should especially remember. She did the head holding thing at the end of GDW and kept repeating "you can't save me now, oh no you can't save me now... you can't do it... you just can't do it." ...

Sounds like Stevie was "chanelling" her last time at Red Rocks on this performance - reliving the moment of her life.... powerful stuff...
