Hello Everyone:

It has been a while since I last posted. Found this and thought it might be nice to share the link with everyone. The Dreams Remix is approximately 19:27:29 into the show.

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting Bandon! I actually got it around the 20:21:00 mark and you can hear Stevie around the 20:24:00 mark. Sounds cool! :woohoo:

Can you say "Stevie's best studio vocal in, like, ten years??" Hullo? :wavey: And now I can tell with my own ears that it's Stevie doing the high falsetto parts. You go, grrrl!

Too bad the backing track SUCKS! I have a feeling that it might chart in Europe, but unless it receives a MASSIVE rerub by someone with talent, I don't think it stands a chance in the States.

WOW!
Great stuff! Thank you! I copied the site and found out that it is much easier if you download this file: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/shows/rpms/radio1/essmix.rpm and open it in Real Player, then you can get the full stream and navigate it easier (should be about 01:20:?? there)! Maybe anyone knows how to reocrd it? I tried it, but it didn't work!

I am attempting to record it, but am experiencing problems. I'm not sure if the Essential Mix playback is blocked somehow for recording. If I get it to work, I'll copy to MP3 and share.

I don't know why, but I could listen to the backing track all the time! I am anything but a techno/dance fan, but this one has something special (maybe because it is a Fleetwood Mac melody), but the version is great as it is now (especially her new vocals)!

Yeah, you are probably right! And this wont be the track that they may release as a single! When they are going to release a single, it will have like 6 remixes, but at the moment this is my favorite (alse because I never heard another version)!

Holy high notes. If she can sing like that again I want a new album right now.

Great vocals! She obviously still has it in her (with a little enhancement provided by the studio engineers). On this remix, I think her vocals are similar to the TISL sound.

DAMN she sounds great!! At first I thought the high notes were blended with someone else...but after that it, I was sure it was all her. Especially after the first chorus. Why does dance music have to take so long to get to the good stuff? Jeez just get to the song.

But I loved it.

Hi all. I'm Gary. I've been a long time lurker and I figured now's the perfect time to say howdy. Thanks to the link I was able to snag the remix and get it converted. I'm no audio engineer; but hey it's better than nothing and it will hold us over until we get the official release.

My mama always said "When you go visit someone, you bring a little something." Well, here's my gift to you all. The Dreams remix.

(If you wanna get to the good stuff, Stevie starts singing at 3:30 into the clip.)

Enjoy.

At the Vegas shows I thought this was some chipmunk sped up version. I have a feeling her vocals still might be torqued up a tiny bit. BUT that falsetto voice is a wonder to behold.
Sent chills up my spine. How in the hell did they get her to do THAT ? Unbelievable. I haven't heard her pull a falsetto note on this song literally since the Tusk tour. 25 years ago. I am beyond impressed. :blob1:

I can't see this mix doing well on the charts, if it is released. It has too many "slow" moments. That doesn't fair well for club play, I'm afraid.

AHHH I love it!!! Thanks so much to everyone for hosting! :wavey: Makes me stoked to see her again in AC.

As far as the falsetto goes, she couldn't put that much wear and tear on her voice at this particular juncture, IMO--not for a concert tour where she's pretty much performing every other night. It gets to be far too much. In the studio after she's had a lot of time off, I can definitely see how they'd be able to get her to pull this off. Excellent. I really hope it's a hit and i'd love to see more mixes available.

SpyNote

She used her falsetto voice for those cool parts in Sorcerer. I'm pretty sure the same was done for this relatively new vocal. Even with the most sophisticated technology, I think it would be hard to recreate a voice as unique as Stevie's :)

It's not really that hard to sing in a falsetto. Most male lead singers today seem to rely on it to get to those higher parts... Thom Yorke of Radiohead and Chris Martin of Coldplay come to mind.

A very big thank you to Bandon, James, Gary and Daniel... you guys all rock!

But you have to remember that the original song Dreams only had a few notes lol...the music in the song well, in general is very repeatitive. I like it a lot ... :]

But those key notes make the vocal memorable. :woohoo: Another example is "Planets of the Universe," which is sung pretty flat throughout until the last chorus when that higher range comes out unexpectedly. "You and I will simply disappear" is what really stands out.

She really only needs to do it a few times in a song to take the quality of the vocal to the next level. I also think in general that Stevie does her best work when some hard-ass, like Iovine, is pushing her to get her best vocal down, or when she feels like she has something to prove, which seems to happen usually only when she's collaborating with someone on some outside project.

Well, depends on your voice. It happens to be the most fragile part of the voice. It is the first thing to go when you sing incorrectly or abuse your vocal chords. I don't know if those two guys are smoking, coking, and drinking they way Stevie did. Her falsetto was throttled by the end of 1980. Which, actually, isn't too bad, considering three tours and vast amounts of abuse. Amazing that it has reappeared.

GO STEVIE! :blob1:
No, I don't think there's much studio trickery involved there. The tone of the vocals in the high parts sounds very natural, not overly processed. There may have been a little autotuning, but that's really our Stevie up there in that vocal range... WOW! I never would have thought she had it in her. I'm so happy to be proven wrong.
What has gotten into this woman lately? She's on a rampage!

It's still a bit of mystery to me, though, because if you're using your voice right, singing falsetto doesn't necessarily cause damage. One thing I notice about the remix is that she's singing in her "softer" voice, and I think it's easier to transition to a falsetto when you're singing softly. Meanwhile, she sings in more of a "belting" voice on her arena tours, probably because she feels it carries better through those larger spaces. And it's more of a struggle to transition to a falsetto in that mode.
Tha's my theory, anyway.

Can someone please explain to me why, if she can still sing this fabulously, she doesn't on the records and only teases us with a little bit here and there on the likes of Sorcerer and some power vocals on Everybody Finds Out? It boggles my fucking mind that if she can kick out an amazing vocal like this, why doesn't she do it more often? No one is expecting her to do it live, we all know she'd embarrass herself, but at least do it on your records, dear!

AMEN - I say sing it like you mean it. I often tire of the voice she sometimes uses on her recordings. I think it would not hurt her to kick it up a notch. Then again, she has made millions singing and I am typing on a message board about her singing

*cough*Sorcerer*cough*

She had no qualms doing it on that track and if she put a bit more effort into tailoring the songs to suit her "stage voice" during the rehearsals (i.e. not dropping the keys to the point where the songs are utterly unrecognizable), I'd be less prone to bitchin'.
