Here's the second TISL song up for interpretation. Hope you enjoy.

FALL FROM GRACE
by Stevie Nicks

I choose to be his confidant
And to keep him from the fire
I choose to be quietly discreet
If that is his desire
I touch with gossamer wings
To be quiet around you
There is so much going on
You could easily

Chorus:
Wake up with a stranger
It's not something you plan
One night in a world of pain
And you finally understand
Not all the king's horses, not all the king's men
Could put it back together

You say you wouldn't do this for very long
The applause from it all is so defining
Well it bounces off the wall at you
When the miracle is happening
High priestess...she's the keeper of the peace in this
Twice as much, intensified
What people will do
To get...this...high

(Chorus)

And now alone in my room
As it all begins again
Was I so wrong
Why am I always so intense
In this same place I sit
The same place as before
Well I came all the way here
Just to watch you walk out that door

I didn't ask when you shook your head
I always accepted what you said
As the truth and the truth only
Well it's not enough that you depend on me
And it's not enough that you say you love me
It's not enough to just save face
Because sometimes
You just fall from grace
Sometimes
You just fall from grace

Maybe I am calmer now
Maybe things are fine
Maybe I made the whole thing up
Maybe it isn't a lie
Maybe the reason I say these things
Is to bring you back alive
Maybe I fought this long and this hard
Just to make sure you survive
Just to make sure you survive

I think that this song as a whole is about the struggle of dealing with fame. It is Stevie basically telling one of her stories to Sheryl and telling her why she is telling her these stories. Crazy things could happen you could "Wake up with a stranger" and your life could be totally changed forever. And as the song reaches the end she is saying these experience have made me who I am. I don't want you to make the same mistakes so listen and those mistakes that I did. And that those mistakes count for something now they are helping you to survive. This is what I think "Fall from Grace" means.

I think this paragraph could be about Christine and the whole life of a rock star.

Christine says she 'wouldn't do this for very long'...she could be referring to The Dance tour (about when this song was written maybe?) or even just staying with FM period.

But then Stevie tries to reassure Chris of all the great things involved in being a rock star: adoration from fans ('the applause from it all is so defining'), and the magic ('when the miracle is happening').

Stevie has often described being on stage as experiencing so much energy, or a natural high. The like 'What people will do to get this high' simply means people would do anything to be famous on stage and experience the high of performing.

I'll have to think about some of the other parts of the song. This part definitely jumped out at me the first time I heard it!

Since I just read an article where Stevie said this song was very much about Lindsey and being on tour with Fleetwood Mac, that probably influences my reading ... but it's very easy to read these lines as being about Lindsey anyway. The way that he exercised control over her music, taking it and shaping it into something else ... he probably influenced other decisions in her life as well. Even though he was younger than her in years, it seems like he was kind of her mentor musically and maybe played the part of a father figure at times. Could also refer to Mick whom I think she looked up to and trusted implicitly, even letting him exercise control over the rights to her music, i.e. "Silver Springs" ...
