For all the ppl who create these wonderful websites I visit...just wondering where you go to for hosting...
Specifically looking at bandwith-wise
One I'm looking at only has 30gb of bandwith...
Any ideas?
I only have 50 mb (at a dutch provider) but that's pretty cramped. Depends on what you want to do with it though. If you want to offer some audio/videoclips then 50 mb isn't enough.

Well I'm hoping to share some music like sararhiannon.com or buckinghamnicks.net to name a few...
and I just registered my website and loaded on a temporary page...so my new website will be www.rockalittle.net  I'm excited to get this started.
hey that's cool! good luck with it

I was also thinking of starting up a web site... how expensive is it? Because I am pretty much poor right now! But I need some kind of hobby and thought it might be fun to start a Stevie Site.

Check out dreamhost.com-- right now they're offering 2400 MB disk space/120 gigs bandwidth for $7.95 a month. I don't use dreamhost, but I've heard lots of good things about them... and that's one hell of a good deal they have right now.

Oh wow thank you so much...
I was going to go with bravenet because I love their services (I got my domain name through them for 5 bucks a year) but to pay for hosting and 100gb of bandwith they claim it's (I believe) 6.95 a month or something, but when you actually buy it they want to charge you for a whole year with came out to about 100 bucks, and I'm like nooooo way lol
I'll check it out though, thanks for the tip!

Ok correction on the addy...I decided to change it to http://www.snrockalittle.net (just gotta add the "sn" in front of it) and I set it up so you can just type in snrockalittle.net (without the www.)
Hopefully in the next few weeks I can get it all developed :)

Domains are fairly cheap, cheapest I have seen is 5 bucks for one year...
Of course you could always go free and do like geocities, or bravenet free hosting...but probably not ideal if you want to post shows up because they only let you hold so much space (kinda like a domain/hosting in a package)
Hosting can get quite pricey though, but as SaraRhiannon posted that link to dreamhost.net You can get it for 10 bucks a month ($49.95 one-time setup fee)
Or if you do the 1 year prepaid you do not get a setup fee...so it comes up to approx 100 bucks
I just did the 10 bucks a month (one time setup fee) so I am not in a "contract"

Well I am going to gloat on one thing I just got my hands on
I will have an interactive chat room, and it is very glossy eye-candy look to it...I hope it will be a big hit
Seems like there aren't any websites where ppl actually go into and chat (correct me if I'm wrong on this) but this program I got a hold of is SO neat
It could do voice and webcam but I have to pay hefty $$$ to do so, and the chat thing itself is free so that will be the first thing I'll probably upload
And it should be very easy for dial-up users too, it is a lightweight flash application :D
