I found this poem on sararhiannon.com by Stevie, titled "For Rick." Rick Vito?
http://www.sararhiannon.com/journal_forrick.htm
The link should work but I'll transcribe just in case.
You said I was an angel
But I just ran away
You asked me to stay
Just one more day
And I ran away
Baby, I called you just the other night
But I just hear nothing
Well, is it just out of fright
You say I'm just smart
Well, I guess that's a start
Even though you make me cry
Lord, you've stolen my heart
Do you understand me
That without you I may die
You're the only thing that saves me
Nothing money can buy
You're everything I've wanted
Am I all you wanted to (typo by Stevie)
There's nothing you could ask me
That I wouldn't do
Wow! Is that Vito?

I swear I was going to say that, but the thought of it just made me shudder. I can't keep track of Stevie's loves. I'm thinking Vito. If they had a thang, I didn't know it was serious enough for her to *die* over.

i'm voting Nowels. doesn't their relationship go all the way back? with her track record (or presumed record) i would think he could rather easily fit the bill.

I don't know why I'm thinking about this but...
has anyone else seen the BTM Tour video where it seems Stevie's having a hard time singing Dreams? I forget what show it is.
She looks like she's crying at one point and Rick Vito comes over and asks if she's OK.
Ring any bells?

Maybe Rick isn't actually the real name but a code name of a man who called her "angel" and she left him and he wanted her to stay.

or as some have mentioned in other threads, Stevie says songs are FOR certain people from time to time, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are ABOUT those people. See my post above. ;)

I think he wrote the music  I say this because as Kelly pointed out ( :wavey: ) the words are registered to La Nicks.

It would be really weird to write a poem that's that romantic for one guy while dedicating it to another, though.
One thing is for sure. When Stevie falls, she falls hard!

Not necessarily. It depends on what the circumstances were when the poem was written.
I read the poem at SR that says for Robin. I don't think that poem was about Robin. The one that says for FM isn't really about FM. JMHO

I haven't read the one for Robin yet, but I thought the one for FM sounded like something she'd say to FM. About keeping the chain unbroken? She referred to the "chain" at least twice. Or the line about thinking back to the beginning, the first line of the poem (maybe before everything got so screwed up). Anyway..

Not sure about the Dreams part, I would have to dig the vid out and watch it. I do recall having watched it and feeling like there was some flirting going on between the two. I tried not to put too much into it cuz Stevie kinda flirts with whoever the guitar is anyway, Carlos, Waddy, Liddy, etc. But I dunno, it just seemed like maybe it was more than normal with Rick.

Nicksfix says she wrote it and LB produced and that's what I thought. I'll have to take out the album when I get home. Rick is one of my favorite guys ever simply beacause of I Can't Wait but I read that article and come to find out he wrote another favorite song of mine "The Power of Goodbye" by Madonna and produced "The Game of Love" by Santana which I also adore. This guy freakin rocks!

When they filmed Skies The Limit at Red Rocks, on the second night Stevie was visibly upset about something. I remember Rick walked over to Christine and asked her, "What's the matter with Stevie?"

I don't think Stevie and Rick were an item. Good friends, absolutely. Lovers, probably not. By all accounts, Rick has been happily married to the same woman for over twenty years and they have two children together.

I was at the Street Angel Tour "1st leg is over" party in Columbus and Stevie & Rick were sitting next to eachother about 5 ft away from me & she had her hand on his knee most of the time - kind of massaging it, and there was a lot of eye contact. It seemed to be more than casual, however, I didn't actually see them make out, so maybe I should shut up . . .

Massaging his knee? That's pretty touchy feely :xoxo: I can't say that would surprise me and by the sound of the poem, it was more than just a fling. That's the part that surprises me, if she was in love with him. But the part about him being married is disturbing  Stevie, oh Stevie, find a nice single man and settle down already! I feel like her mother now.. Btw, other than him being married, which is a big thing, I don't blame her either. Vito is hot! :xoxo:

C'mon, nobody said Stevie hasn't ever played touchy-feely with other married men - after all, she's not Angelina Jolie! Besides, I can relate to that: married men are safer, they tend to go back to their wives at the end of the day....no chance of them messing up your life with diapers and telling you to stop touring and all that mundane everyday kinda stuff we all have to deal with....

 Does Angelina Jolie have a rule about not playing touchy feely with married men? Isn't she with Brad Pitt or something? I admit, I don't keep up with the tabloids nearly as much as I should..
I wasn't being judgemental. I wouldn't be surprised if she had a thing with Vito, but I'm surprised she would have *died* for him. That's more than touchy feely. That poem wasn't written for someone she was just f**king.
I am convinced that rock stars mess around. Convinced.

The poem was written in 82 or 83 when ALL that stuff was written. Vito and the flirting were a decade later. I vote Nowells.

I think all those poems were written at earlier times and were given to or noted FOR certain people at later times. That's why I said the poems don't have to be about the people it says they are for.

Maybe she read the poem to "Rick" and he loved it or something (even though the poem had nothing to do with him) so when she printed the poem she dedicated it to him because he liked it so much? Just a theory.
