Guilty Conscience – Stevie Nicks May 14th in Las Vegas

This is an opportunity for the thief who stole my camera and all the precious memories I had captured at the Stevie Nicks Dreams Concert to pay for the camera and other items stolen.

Please Read:

It was my Birthday on May 15th and as I have had an awful time over the last 12 months or so going through the break up of my marriage and the battle for custody of my 3 young boys, my family thought this would be a nice way of giving me a “breather” from the stresses that I have been and continue to experience. Knowing how much I love Stevie Nicks it was incredibly lucky that her concert fell on/around my Birthday. The cost of the flight to Vegas from Manchester UK was kindly supported by my family, and I covered the cost of the hotel and concert tickets.

Saturday May 14th – Last Night

I was seated in Orchestra 3 Section, Seat 325, five rows from the stage, and had been capturing some superb shots and video with my brand new Sony DSC-V3 digital camera. I had purchased a 1 gigabyte card so that I could capture as many memories as possible. The card very quickly filled up and I returned the camera to it’s storage bag and put this inside the Caesars Palace bag I had been given when I purchased a $30 Stevie Nicks t-shirt. I then placed the bag under my seat and watched the remainder of the show. Towards the end of the show, as everyone knows, Stevie comes to the front of the stage and receives gifts and I was pushed towards the stage when this happened. Once the excitement had calmed down and I returned to my seat my bag was gone.

As the camera is quite small and as the bag was located discreetly under my seat I can only assume that someone had been watching me take the photos and video and that as soon as I moved they removed the bag.

I am heartbroken! I have lost my Wife, I have almost lost my 3 young boys who I love more than life itself, and when my family very kindly suggest a trip over to Vegas as a break from the stresses of my life, what happens? I get robbed! How can people be so heartless?

The loss of the camera is of no real concern as this can be replaced. What I can’t replace are all the precious memories I captured. I already have a number of Stevie photos and pictures but none that I have taken. If the thief is out there, has a conscience, I would beg them to return the storage card to me. They can have the camera and a copy of the images.

I have put a Buy-it-Now price to my auction based on the value of my loss; the camera and card ($699 and $199 to replace respectively) and $30 for the T-Shirt. The cost of the flight from the UK was £450 Pounds Sterling but I won’t include.

If you have a conscience, own up. I will not press charges. All I want are the memories I have lost. If you wish to mail me outside of the eBay Auction, that’s fine, mail me at nicksfan@birstwith.com

Yours, a very frustrated and upset UK Stevie Nicks fan

WOW HOW AWFUL IS THIS?!?!?!?~ POOR GUY~

That is the most terrible thing I have read in a long time...I would donate or something to help him but like he has said, it isn't the camera...it is the photos...is it someone who posts here?
Is there anyway people would maybe willing to contribute and create a folder of all our photos from the show because I am sure there are lots and send them to him...this is just too sad :(

Keep your chin up , and please don;t let this low life bring you down.

If the camera was really that small and valuable, I think I would have put it in my pocket or held onto it the whole concert. I managed to hold onto my cheap disposable camera all night with no problems. I'm sorry for his loss, but he needs to take some personal responsibility for his possessions.

Uh, yes it's sad but he's kinda acting like I do: when something bad happens to me, I allow it to ripple over EVERYTHING bad that has ever happened to me. I'll get a hang nail and turn it into "I hate my life! Nobody loves me! Bleh, bleh, bleh..." I'm not quite that dramatic, but pretty much! Generally if you leave something unattended, it will be taken. He should have just brought his stuff up with him like I did. I feel bad for him, but seriously, a little lost property isn't the end of the world. And the fact that he lost is photos of Stevie aren't the end of the world either. There are lots of photos of her. I look at other people's photos and am flooded with memories. So, really... break a nail and we'll talk!

at the OKC show in 2003, I wore all 3 of the shirts I had purchased before the show on top of the other shirt I was in (Only during the show)...Sweated like mutha but still didnt have to worry about being ripped off.

Man, I have no sympathy for thieves

Exactly. It's not this poor bastard's fault he was ripped off. But he should have been more careful. Perhaps he's just a bit naive. We should send him to bluewhitefire.com for Tiff's pics, they are gorgeous, I finally got a chance to go take a look. Although I don't think the Vegas ones are up yet.

How is it a scam? He's not asking regular Joe Schmoe to send him money, he's asking for the person who stole his stuff to begin with to reimburse him the cost of everything that was stolen or to give it all back to him. There's no way on this green Earth that either of those things will happen, but he's not trying to scam anyone. Poor guy.

I would think his camera is in a pawnshop here in Vegas, or in LA by now. Kiss it goodbye. He should file a police report on it so it can be included on the pawn sheets. You have to be careful these days. He learned an expensive lesson. Just another sign of the fall of western civilization.

First of all, you don't get sympathy from the person who wronged you by calling them names.. He refers to this person as a "thief" more than once in the auction... These are just pictures, not that big of a deal.. I know several people who took pictures in Vegas, only to have them not come out.. it's frustrating, i know, but it's not the end of the world... i have recorded several shows which either got screwed up for various reasons or didn't record at all... was i annoyed about it? yes.. am i gonna post my sob story on Ebay and hope someone will pay me money to make me less upset? of course not...

If his camera and his pictures meant so much to him, he should have taken it with him to the stage... who leaves a $600 camera in a public place anyway?

I'm not saying it's a big deal and I'm not refuting many of the things you're saying because I agree with them. When I went to the Boston taping, I put the stuff I bought right on top of the bloody stage in front of my very eyes; I wasn't a fool like this guy was. He says that he put his stuff in a Caesar's Palace bag. Ther emust have been thousands of those things and somehow may have gotten it mixed up with theirs; who the heck knows. But your assertion that he was somehow trying to scam people is false. If you read it again, he clearly states that he wants the "thief" to reimburse him or send his shit back to him. That's all.

Here's where i'm skeptical (maybe a little too skeptical)... The majority of the people who are gonna see that auction are going to sympathize with him.. this guy knows this... it would not surprise me in the least if someone out of the goodness of their heart bids and sends this dude money... He "claims" he only wants money from the "theif"... but i'm sure he'll accept donations from anyone who decides to give him $$

The auction seems a bit odd. I have never seen anything like that before. I do really feel bad for him.

When I took that photography class at AAA  last month they told us to always be careful of your camera especially while traveling. Be very careful if you let anyone take your camera to include yourself in a shot. Most likely your camera will be gone in a second.

I always keep my handbag and camera with me at all times!! Also a word of caution for airline travelers, NEVER, EVER check your camera, computer, jewelry or anything of value! ALWAYS carry them on! The incidents of valuable items being stolen out of luggage are astounding. I just heard about this last week but I am certainly not dumb enough to check my camera in. I carried my SLR in its bag right on the plane and of course my digital is always in my handbag.

Also, if you have an SLR always make sure that you have a protective filter on the lens. I could not get my lens cap off and I took it to a camera store on Sunday. They finally got it off and it was stuck under the filter lock. The reason was that my filter was completely smashed. They took it off and my lens was fine and I bought a new filter. I must have dropped my camera somewhere on Saturday May 15 while it was in my tote bag. Needless to say I never did get to try the SLR for the concert photos. Also, I only paid about $13.00 online for a Canon filter and I paid about $20.00 for a generic brand at the camera store. I would recommend ordering online.

Especially carry on your digital camera because the cargo is not temp controlled and such. But 35mm as well because they also have delicate parts. I have to get that filter you are talking about cuz one of these days I will likely scratch my lense because I can be a clutz!

I feel sorry for the guy, I really do. I live in Manchester, I know how much it must have cost and how much it must have meant to him. However, the situation sucks, so go home and whine, go online and find more pictures. Try to claim the camera on insurance. But post an auction on ebay? He has got to be kidding. At least he has the memories of seeing Stevie in Vegas, isnt that whats important? If its for real, noone who steals from a concert venue only to go online and decide to send it back. If it isnt, anyone who sends him money is a bit of an idiot. Harsh, but so is life.

I sort of agree. This auction is pretty pathetic. It makes me cringe it is so stupid. The chances that the thief will see this auction are one in a billion and it seems like he is just trying to stir up some sympathy or attention. I mean... look at that auction- it is just plain silly!

I put my cell phone and wallet in that Caesar's bag and put it under my seat. Fortunately the bag had a seal because some drunk bitch spilled champagne all over it! Then, when everyone rushed the stage I forgot all about the bag- fortunately it was still there when I got back! Even if it was stollen, at least I got to shake her hand!
