Well we finally booked our flight last night :blob1: And it is going to be one hell of a trip.
We leave Jacksonville at 6:35 am connect in Dallas and land in Vegas around 10:07 am. Then coming back we don't leave Vegas till 11:30 pm, connect in Miami and we have about a 3 hour layover then arrive in Jacksonville at 11:44 am.
Is anyone one elses flight like this?? This is what I get for taking a forgetful non-money managable pot smoker. Why me?

I'm direct from Philadelphia to Vegas and on the way back, it's the same way. I'm with Paula on the Southwest rocks train

Ok If anyone is still looking for hotel. I just made a reservation for Harrah's from May 8th to the 13th. It was $49.00 on Sunday and $59.00 a night until Thursday. :blob2: I am not staying there on Fri and Sat night because the rate jumps to about $200.00 a night. I will keep my other hotel reservation for those nights. I feel so much better becuase at least I know that it is not that bad of a place. I don't mind staying at the other casino for just 2 nights.

I will be on that same plane out of Philly,we should get that party started in the airport lounge before we take off, time permitting of course.
The way home I have a stop over in Phoenix, about an hour and a half.

God bless Southwest Airlines & their direct flights to & from Buffalo & Vegas.

BTW, everyone double check their hotel reservations. We booked through Travelocity way back & Amber found out the price went down by $50 a night since then  ! We ended up having to pay a $25 cancellation fee, but we're still saving $75. God bless Amber for being cheap like me. :xoxo:

Forgot to mention that when I called to cancel, I was put on hold & what did I hear? Gypsy!

We changed our reservation as well. $91 bucks a night through Expedia. Four of us are splitting a room for three nights and it is now $62 a piece. Sixty two bucks for all three nights is a deal to me! My flight is direct..Philly to Vegas..for 99 bucks. One way. It pays to book early Brit. It is the first thing I booked because rates on flights always go UP as the departure date gets closer. Hotels dropped and better tickets dropped onto TM.....always do the flight first thing.

You know I would have booked early, if I didn't have a friend (i use that term loosely now) that was not a very dependable person. Her and her boyfriend, who is supposed to be the one sending her out there, have had since March 25 to get whatever money they needed together. But instead she would rather go out drinking or stay at home puffing away. I bit my tongue for a long time, cause I haven't grown my balls yet. But for the past 2 or 3 weeks instead of going to Vegas, you'd think I was going on a family trip to see the biggest rubberband ball. So technically not my fault with the flight, and I'm keeping hush, hush with her about Vegas in October and the Atlanta show.
Haven't even left and its already been an interesting trip.

I booked my flight on March 24th and would have booked earlier but I was holding out to see whether or not I really wanted to go to Vegas and could get time off from work. I missed some great deals in waiting :distress: Inititally, it would have been even cheaper for me to fly out and back home with the internet deals (and it was only $178 when I booked on the 24th as it is). They have great deals but you have to really watch. A lot of flights are added closer to the date AND you have to make sure you get to the airport early enough because depending on how many people are flying out with you, you could risk having to find another flight if they've overbooked (apparently I watch too much Airline on A&E).

What happened that you have to change your flight??

Well, I was just shocked at that travel time.... HELLO!!! A flight from Vegas to JAX that has a travel time of twelve hours?!?!?!?? That sounds like a total nightmare. At least it's overnight and they can try to get some sleep. But a three hour layover sounds heinous, too.

Brit, you have my sympathies. But, at least you get to see Stevie in Vegas! :D

Yeah, that does sound especially bad. I think I'd be really freaked out. Poor Brit! Oh, my flight leaves at 11:41 am, arrives at 1:08....thank goodness. Although, the shuttle ride from BART to the airport is about 20 mins...I'm actually kind of nervous, I haven't flown really by myself before. I'll probably leave, like 3 hours early just to be sure I don't cock it up...

Airline is a hoot! I love when the drunks try to argue that they're not drunk!

Don't forget Southwest's online check in, darling. You want to be in the A group, not the C. C group is LAME.

I've never used the online check-in but perhaps it wouldn't hurt to do that this time. Usually I end up in B or C. I hate C because it's so loud and you have to smell diesel fuel for he entire flight (but hey, i'm glad they're stocked up). Do you just log on that morning and print out your ticket that way and then go to the kiosk to dump off baggage??

I've only done it twice, I can't rmember how it works as far as luggage. There's instructions online on what to do. You can do it any time after midnight on the day of departure - very helpful when you can't get to the airport early enough (or you don't want to!)

How do you get in A group?

How do you get in A group?

Southwest doesn't have assigned seating. It's groups A, B or C, assigned on a first come, first served basis. So, it's better to do their online check-in the day of your departure, as you'll get into A group. You may still get into group A if you get to the airport way early (like, 3 hours or more before your flight.)

About 1/2 hour before take-off, they tell everyone to line up at the gate in the line for their group. They board group A first, so you pretty much get to sit where you want  . B is usually fine too. Plus since you're traveling alone, it's not like you're trying to sit next to someone.

C is a little scary, cuz if they did overbook & by chance you're one of the last few peeps in line, they may try to bump you. I personally have never seen this happen, but they can do it.

On Southwest? Really? That's odd  . I've flown them several times & I've never heard of assigned seating. Did you book through Southwest directly, or through a travel agent?

Here's the link regarding online check-in:

EDIT: Are you sure it's Southwest? Here's their "open seating" policy:

Lemme guess... he still can't hit the high notes during the key change end of "Living on a Prayer". Last time I saw him attempt to sing that one he would do the "WOH-OH!" and then pull the mike away. At least Richie Sambora can still sing that high!

Oh, he can't get near the chorus, ever. He doesn't even do the wo-oh anymore. It is like Stevie doing Rhiannon. It's kind of pitiful, musically. Every single song, except the new one, was done at least a step low. "Wanted" was two steps low and he still didn't do the howl before the guitar solo. Musically, it is almost exactly like seeing Stevie. The high end of his voice is shot to hell. He was singing half an octave out of his range when he recorded those songs. The other boys handle all the high parts. Like Stevie's girls do. Maybe he learned it from her.

BUT, he is a consummate entertainer. He runs all over the place, jumps in the air, is as sexy all get out, and IMO looks better now than he did 20 years ago. His armpits almost made me pass out during "Raise Your Hands". Nice arms and shoulders. Yeehaw.
I hooted, hollered and yelled for 90 minutes. It was exhilirating and exhausting.

Ya know.... when they released "Slippery..." I always wondered why he, the band and the producer would release those songs in those ranges. I mean, he could barely hit the notes then.

It was just the style of that music at the time. People respond to music in certain keys. It wasn't smart for his voice. But then again...untrained singer, smoker, etc. Same old story.
