View Full Version : Slight Possibility Henley/Nicks Tour Could be Cancelled

Members of the Eagles are currently having a disagreement about the band's new album. Henley has been publically venting his frustration and today told a Florida newspaper the following:

"Henley has a tour in the works this summer with Stevie Nicks, which he says he would put on the shelf for the Eagles.

"I'll probably end up doing that tour, but if I thought the Eagles could be productive in the studio, I'd probably cancel that tour. But I haven't been given the indication that there will be anything more than golf for some of the other band members."

Now, if Glenn comes around it's possible Don could cancel the tour. Like him, though, we don't see that happening. Just thought y'all would want to know.

Woah, sounds like Don is pretty pissed off. Have they recorded anything yet for the new album?
I wonder if his words will spur the others into action?

Wow, what a peach! Throwing the Eagle's dirty laundry (no pun intended) into the media and then signaling that he's willing to negotiate away a commitment he has made.

Stevie, dump this clown and go on your own tour.

Thanks for the update. I think this tour is rather a bunch of BS. Very disorganized...seems as though Stevie and her people have nothing to do with it and that it's in the hands of someone else. I'd dare say the same for Don as well. If Don can just cast this off, i'm sure Stevie could as well. I wonder how this idea was presented to them?

This is hysterical. Way to go Don ! Issue press statements about personal disputes, THAT'LL encourage healthy and productive communication.
Don Henley and Glenn Frey just officially stole the 70's rock star drama queen crowns away from Lindsey and Stevie !

i know that i bitched about stevie touring with don, but now i've gotten used to the idea and the ticket prices have gotten less ridiculous... DON'T TAKE MY SUMMER TOUR AWAY! as if i needed one more reason to dislike don henley...

always one to find the silver lining (when it's convenient): she'd have studio time for a new album... and i wouldn't have to sit through don's part of the concert... and i could save up for the real stevie tour to follow that album...

ughh...lol...here we are putting efforts and energy into actually ORGANIZING all the info for this tour...since neither singers' management seems to be doing that..and getting all the facts straight..and Mr. Henley says this stuff..

Also to add I don't see much chance in this actually happening, considering the tour is now scheduled, booked, venue websites have info..tix go on sale sat..would be real bad idea for Mr. Henley to do...and hey if he does, maybe she will put Tom Petty on the bill with her instead?? Don't get me wrong, I do like Don Henley's music..and The Eagles', and I'm excited for the tour...although I just think Tom and Stevie are more compatible, especially if they were to do a combined set. They have done more duets than Don and Stevie, and Stevie has always considered herself "one of the heartbreakers"

Well dates are already being cancelled and the presales are now off. I do not think he would say he could pull out..if he couldn't. Personally, Stevie's heart hasn't exactly seemed into this thing either. No offical word on her site, no mention on her various interviews..no press for it.
As far as touring alone..why didn't she just do that to begin with if she wanted to?

She also blew the 'Tusk' version of "Beautiful Child" out of the water with her 'SYW' tour performances... so it's definitely possible.

only showing Don for what he is.

I hate the original Silver Springs, it's atrocious to these ears. That vocal makes me want to wrap a piano wire around my neck. The Dance version is a masterpiece.

She also blew the 'Tusk' version of "Beautiful Child" out of the water with her 'SYW' tour performances... so it's definitely possible.

Hell no. She did a damn fine job with that song, but it didn't touch the Tusk version. That childlike quality to her voice is what made the song so stunning and effective on Tusk. I loved it on the past tour, but it was nowhere nearly as good as the album cut.

Space Needle must be included, first and foremost. :D But get rid of the "tar people" line, it robs the song of all mystery and sounds atrocious.

I think the Smile at You vocal demonstrates she can still go high. Thus, I think Julia and other songs would be okay. Plus, she NAILED IMO GB with that soft voice that was a 180 from the almost angrily pleading, yearning, and beautiful piano demo. So, who knows. I do know this though. I was terrified before The Dance and she nailed that. I was terrified before the Enchanted tour because Sleeip Angel is so high - she nailed that. She nailed BC on the SYW tour. So, not liking to be wrong all of the time  I tend not to doubt her anymore though I get that her voice is older.

Yes, true enough about the childlike quality that endeared the song to me in the first place (Tusk version). However, it was almost a reflection of the past when she sang Beautiful Child on this tour. Her vocals were nothing short of outstanding and incredibly heartfelt, IMHO. To me, you can't compare the two because they were coming from very different places.

Eh, I think it worked for Landslide, but not so much that song, imo. What I really love about the studio cut is that she's singing "I'm not a child anymore," yet she sounds like one. A weak and vulnerable child despite all of her pleading to the contrary.

ITA - and the same for SS in The Dance and After the Glitter Fades and Sleeping Angel on The Enchanted tour. She was really good if not stunning on those - but she was not what she was when she cut them, which is unfair to suggest she could be  I also think some of the Enchanted's on the Enchanted tour were as close to reckless vocal abandon as she has come in a long time, save the GDW scream from The Dance, which gives me chills from the intensity to this day

I think it is the best thing on that record, which is saying a lot because LB's stuff is really really good. I also think it is one of the best things she has ever done. The vocal is easy but also subtle and she is not really known for being vocally subtle ( I AM NOT YOUR SIIISSSSTTERERRBBBRROOTTTHEHHRERERHRHWAYAYAYAAAYYYYHHHHHAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYYA - panty revealing spin  ) Interestingly, in concert, she sang it with so much more force but maintained the same quality. Yes, but what about this tour with her beautiful range on her I's transitioning into "I do...love you...I still...need you...I wish...I wish that you were...mine..." I just thought it was beautiful. To me, that shows she is vulnerable and admitting, hey, yea, I'm strong but I'm also now willing to admit to myself that i'm weak as well but i'm finally OK with that and will allow myself the privlage of being mushy, needy, etc.

I think it is the best thing on that record, which is saying a lot because LB's stuff is really really good. I also think it is one of the best things she has ever done. The vocal is easy but also subtle and she is not really known for being vocally subtle ( I AM NOT YOUR SIIISSSSTTERERRBBBRROOTTTHEHHRERERHRHWAYAYAYAAAYYYYHHHHHAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYYA - panty revealing spin  )

Well, I think Say Goodbye is the best thing on the record, so we'll agree to disagree. :p

Interestingly, in concert, she sang it with so much more force but maintained the same quality. Anyhoo - my $0.02

She sounded a bit ragged by the time she got to that song. It was good, don't get me wrong, and it was a real highlight of the show, but sometimes it was too rough. My favorite part of Destiny Rules is when she's just sitting there with Lindsey and singing it. Makes me goosepimply.

I might agree if I had never heard the concert version and then seen it - LORD CHILD the feelings were palpable.

Fech, that "I still need you" crap makes me ralph. Thrown in for the sake of romantic melodrama, imo.

The quality of her voice and how she sings it is what makes the Tusk version so special to me. For me, she doesn't match it and she simply can't these days. It's like performing I'm So Afraid but without Lindsey on guitar. Doesn't make the current live versions bad, I think they're fab, they simply don't have as a big an effect on me because the key ingredient is missing.

Regardless of why she threw it in there, it was beautiful and watching her and hearing her sing it apparently struck a chord with Jason and I but missed your ass. Typical ;)

On the Tusk album, she sorta whispers through the song, singing gently throughout... on the SYW tour, she sung it loud and put alot more strength into the vocals.. both very different from each other, no doubt.. having said that though, i really do like both versions

Fech, that "I still need you" crap makes me ralph.Part of maturity is the ability to admit that you need someone. ;)

I thought those ad-libs were perfect, and, for me, her voice in general took that song to a place the studio version never quite reached.

Everyone needs someone, wiseass. I just don't find those types of lyrics or songs very appealing. ;) I dislike those adlibs as much as I dislike her "I'm down on my knees" crap from If You Ever Did Believe. Ugh.

I love that song, I think the tune is so pretty. And, of course, since I would never, ever, say that in my real life, I appreciate vicariously thinking it through Stevie. :D It would hardly be cathartic if she had a song saying "well, f*** off then, a-hole!" which is what I may be more likely to say....

I'd be VERY apprehensive to hear her sing "Julia" now... but then the contrast between the original and 'Dance' "Silver Springs" was pretty significant, too, and, yet, in many ways the latter outshone the original.
She also blew the 'Tusk' version of "Beautiful Child" out of the water with her 'SYW' tour performances... so it's definitely possible.

Agree on both counts, and I'll add "Landslide" to that. Her Dance version was far more powerful than the White Album one, IMO.

I just saw a commercial on TV last night for the tour in Mansfield. Showed a bunch of videos from both of them, then when tickets go on sale and such. It was a pretty lengthy commercial so at least SOME promotion is being made.
