View Full Version : Listening to Stevie Constantly
Ever since I booked my trip to Vegas I can not stop listening to Stevie.
Is is just me or is anyone else doing this?
Mac stuff,solo stuff,demos,bootlegs.
Whatever I have over here I have listened to numerous times in the last few weeks.
As a matter of fact I have The Wild Heart on right now.
I must be cracking up.
21 more days.

i'm like that even without a concert to look forward to ;)
it was definitely 'worse' during the tour, though. now i've got all of the dance-ish 80s songs playing, ramping up for NOTS...

It's funny you should mention the 80's dancy songs.
I have a friend that insists on playing these tunes every time, not that there is anything wrong with them, just not my faves.
I try to explain that the reason for these songs is because that's the craze that was going on in the mid 80's,club music was it.I hated it.

I've been playing a lot of Stevie lately. I still have some Lindsey solo and PJ Harvey on heavy rotation as well, but Stevie is never far away. And I've been tearing up whenever I think of the possibility of getting to see her in New Orleans in July. :o

I am really sort of envious of the idea of you "seeing Stevie in person for the first time". That happened for me two decades ago but I remember the feeling like it was yesterday. The very first time I saw her was as she was standing on the side of the stage watching Joe Walsh do his set during her WH tour. I literally started crying. She was much different back then, so it was a much different type experience but it never fails to be enchanting. I would make every effort to try to be in the first couple of rows because there is NOTHING like seeing her up that close. She has this way of looking right through you and if you are lucky enough to make eye contact with her, I promise, your stomach will be in your throat. The Edge walk..if she does it, is so exciting and I never tire of trying to touch her hand. She always seems to be warm and genuine as she is doing that walk and I hope you get to experience it. After seeing her live dozens of times, she brought me to tears again when I saw her at the first SYW show I went too. There is just something about her that evokes a flood of emotion in me. (Lindey can do it too but in a different way..sexy sexy man)
Plus being down close like that gives you the opportunity to watch every little thing she does, how many times she takes a drink between songs, you can check her out changing her clothes..well shawls..you can see her chitchatting with Cory perhaps..who I believe will be along this summer. There are alot of little things that crazy fans like us would enjoy that you cannot always see from up or far back. I would try my damndest to get the first five rows and stand at the stage.

Useless tidbit...
I saw Gwen on the Brit Awards yesterday afternoon on BBC America (I had to tune in because Franz Ferdinand performed :p ) and while I don't like her solo album very much, she kicked fucking ass during that performance. The song she did escapes me, but she rawked.

It was the one with all the crazy Japanese girls. When she won the award for best international female artist, she dragged up all the girls with her. If you can find a video of it online, grab it.
Franz was fab, per usual. I literally cannot wait for the new album, the waiting is driving me batty. They performed last week at a benefit show and played a whole slew of new songs from it, but no one bootlegged it, dammit. They're doing some show on Virgin Radio UK at the end of the month and supposed to do some new songs, I'm pumped for that.
There are so many good albums coming out, I can't keep up.

Ha, those girls are in all her songs, dear. At least the ones i've seen performed.... :D When's Frnz new album supposed to drop?
Hirajuku! :wavey:

Isn't it only possible to get lucky and win them off the radio?

You just have to be there right away and buy them, I think. You really, really, really, should try to be in front. It's totally different. Oh, and all the tickets I've won off the radio were lawn. :(

I couldn't have said it better myself.
The closest I ever got was at Madison Square Garden,Say You Will.
I was directly on the side of the stage, where Stevie would go,left side, when taking a break.
I saw her assistants tending to her, fixing her hair, giving her a drink, the whole 9 yards.
Late in the show i gave her one of the standard "We Love You Stevie!" and she smiled at us,blew me away.Didn't wave or blow a kiss or anything just a smile.

I got good seats using the "waiting till the last minute and then checking ticketmaster like a madwoman" method. I've only tried it once, and pulled up 4th row for Champaign, and ended up right in front of Stevie's mic, touching the stage, all night. :D I know of alot of people who have had good luck with the waiting method.

What about you, Kelly? How have you obtained your good seats?

we got to the front for the SYW Borgata show and it was quite possibly the most exciting night of my life. we were right in front of lindsey and having made eye contact and a small exchange with him, i melt when i recall that evening.
as for stevie, she's just absolutely enthralling. because we weren't near enough to her side of the stage, we didn't get to see the primping and whatnot offstage, and though this borders on psychotic fanaticism, but just being right up close to her in person was fabtastic. i got her rose at the end of the night, that was just made the evening even more sublime.
GO FOR THE FRONT...

Brokers, my dear.
don't you hate that! how did they get so many great seats, why didn't i get great seats, who lets them get those seats, why aren't there laws against that, i hate it!
the best seats i turned up for any SYW show, at precisely 10am on ticketbastard, were crap... WTF! then you check ebay at 10:01am and there are thirty pairs of front/center tix. i hate going to the brokers, but i want the good seats... tragic.

I couldn't have said it better! Definitely go for the front. I was upfront with xxxMx at the SYW Borgata show and it was life-changing (I know that sounds crazy). I feel like I'm ruined for all future concert experiences because I will always be comparing them to this one.
The energy up front was incredible...Not only could we see everything (a few yards away!), I felt like we were part of the concert. We met some awesome fellow-fans and went nuts (especially on Stand Back!).
Best moment: During Stand Back, Lindsey made eye contact with xxxMx at the part where Stevie sings "I need a little sympathy, take me home." She pointed to herself at "Take me home" and Mr. Buckingham smiled, winked, and acknowledged her...Needless to say, some of the other girls were a little jealous!
Anyway, sorry for the digression...like I said...GO FOR THE FRONT!

LOL... there is nothing more stressful than using that method... i swear i have a mini panic attack whenever i do that... half the time i end up pulling up seats that are so/so and i buy them anyway... i guess the side of me kicks in that says i wont be able to get any better seats if i don't buy right away.. of course, i know that is not at all true ;)
but, what an impulse buy that is.. :o
