I am so jealous of everyone's talent. I cannot draw, sing, write poetry...nothing! Great job everyone!
Poetinmyheart - is posting our stuff here enough, or should I also email you my stuff?
I really enjoyed your submissions, Paula, I'm glad you shared. And, you in that black Stevie outfit?! Hoshit! :woohoo: :woohoo:
No matter what everyone posts, it's fun to see everyone's sensibility, whether they are "the best" at something or not, so I, for one, am very grateful to everyone who posted. I thought it was all outstanding, and unique. I really enjoyed everyone's submissions. :xoxo:
I wish more of you shy folks, who think they have no talent, would have posted. course, if you don't have anything, that's okay, too.

So when will the results be known? Anyone know?
OMG, I'm so sorry. I got my people confused. I went back and looked at your drawing, so I could get it straight. Your drawing of Stevie is amazing. Are you a professional artist, or do you draw for a hobby? Again, amazing job! Sorry about the previous mix-up. :o

All of these entries are amazing, guys. I just wanted to thank everyone who commented on mine. I was very nervous about posting it, so I really appreciate all the kind words. :xoxo:
Tiff and Hayley -- I'm an idiot. I don't know why, but the song is in mono, not stereo, so it's no grood for the iPod earphones. Of course you can still add it, if you want.
David -- I wish I sang for a living. :)
Thanks again, everyone!

Here it is round 2 collected for the judges! Letters were randomly assigned and names removed to prevent folks from claiming favoritism (might seem ridiculous, but figured I should anyway). PLEASE, if I forgot something that you did, e-mail or PM me ASAP. I think I got it all here though.

I have now heard from Both judges and given the quanity and quality of work we have received, results will not be available until Tuesday evening. I apologize to those of you on the edge of your seats, but take comfort in the fact that your judges would prefer to have more time to give each contestant some real consideration rather than rushing through just to be able to post points tonight.
Round 3: The final round will be announced tomorrow night when I post the results. The deadline for this round will be May 9th, but doesn't require nearly as much effort (or talent) as this round.

There is a lot of stuff to go through, and understandably one of the judges needs just a bit more time. Since this is a volunteer gig, I've decided to not immediately kill him :) and give him that time. :D I'm sure results will be known soon. Most already have a head start on round 3 anyway, but I'll post in a few minutes.

Round 3: VEGAS, baby! (I imagine a 15 song setlist which means that this round is worth a minimum of 75 points)
Guess the Vegas setlist. Guess everything about it. You get one point for guessing a song sung by stevie, one point for guesssing the song if it is preceded by the song you guessed preceeded it, one point for guessing what she is wearing while singing the song, one point if you guess what video she has playing, one point if you guess the Landslide dedication. Pretty much, guess what you can. What you're right about, you get a point for. Entries MUST be in by May 9th. May 10th, I will know how it went and May 11th, I'll post the 1st and second place winners of this First ledgie contest (based on how well you all did I imagine every five or sixth months I might run another one of these, I've already started picking up stuff for round 2).
All entries MUST be submitted via e-mail, that way you can't just copy another contestants guesses. The e-mail is: Thepoetinmyheart@gmail.com
amber
05-05-2005, 02:33 PM
Maybe he just wants people to play who can understand the instructions.
The point is, though - are the results almost in?? :) :woohoo: They must be almost ready.

Round 3 is the hardest one yet. I have no clue.
Yeah, I'm just going to toss up 15 songs, in an order I think she might do, and toss it in there. Let him worry about the logistics. Oh, and as far as "guess what she's wearing", well, that will be really hard, but it will be hard for him to judge, too. So I'm not that worried. I guess he'll be taking notes on her outfits the first day of Vegas? Or, better yet, if NO ONE guesses what she's wearing, and just guesses the set list, then he won't have to check and NO ONE ELSE will have to try to guess what she's wearing. You know, like a "lets not answer that one" conspiracy?
Are we supposed to really, really describe it? Like, "Black dress, gold shawl" or more like "the black dress with the raised embroidery in the shapes of fleur de lies, until the skirt, which is made out of a silk/rayon blend. Neckline is approximately five inches down from her collarbones, and blah blah" see what I mean?

I was trying to be constructive, not nasty. I think less complications will make it easier on both contestant and on thepoetinmyhear too, because the first round was so complicated even he didn't get the answers right. His intentions are good but I was hoping to help him execute them better in the future. But if that means I'm too retarded to play, oh well, so be it. Only the most clever for this game, eh, AMber?
Alright, alright. Sorry. I guess it was a bit complex. I thought the questions were hard, but I don't know Mac very well.
But, sesly, in the spirit of suggestive coersion, if NONE OF US tries to guess her wardrobe, than we, uh, won't have to guess her wardrobe. :D

I actually thought the first two rounds were loads of fun, maybe that's just me
At the end of the day thepoetinmyhear is giving away his own stuff as prizes (which is incredibly generous of him) so it's up to him how he runs the contest. I'm not trying to be horrible at all (honest), but that's how I see it and plenty of people have actually joined in so I can't really see the problem to tell the truth
This last round though :( I'm terrible at stuff like this.

hey all!
I still haven't heard from one of the judges and I would prefer to post all three at the same time. IF I haven't heard from him by tomorrow I will post the results from the first two judges and just update when he gets in.
The first round was not complicated at all. Neither was the second round. In fact, to say that it was so complicated that I didn't even get it right is incorrect, the questions were just difficult. Difficult and complicated are not the same thing.
For round 2 you could literally do anything, anything at all. I set up the idea of the points in the round specifically so people wouldn't say, "Oh crap I have to look/sound like Lindsey to do this round." I even explained that in a post.
This round is also very open. You basically get a point for everything you have right. IF you put dreams in the set list I can pretty much promise you one point, same for rhiannon. However, that said I have not received any responses yet, so if people would prefer I either end it at round 2 or just do another trivia round, I'm open to that. I'll decide by 10:00 PST so make your voices heard here.
By the by, for round 2 I have already found a few cool items including a backstage pass from the Bella Donna Tour. That contest, however, won't be for quite a few months after this one at which time i will think over format issues. Feedback is appreciated, but I don't see that the rounds are too complicated. Difficult, yes, Complicated, no.

Tusk!
05-05-2005, 05:40 PM
The set list contest is fine. I could do without guessing the videos shown, clothing worn, etc. Most ledgies know the standard Stevie outfits for each song. Maybe 5 points for each correct song, regardless of order in the concert. Bonus point for a song in the correct order.

Yeah, that would at least probably get us fifty percent right. But that's what I keep asking, HOW SPECIFIC DO WE HAVE TO BE ABOUT HER CLOTHES? And I haven't heard an answer. But I'd still rather scrap the whole clothing thing anyway. I mean, what's to guess? She said she was bringing out some old outfits, but I bet she'll still mostly wear a black dress. Therefore, what's the point?

Sorry Amber, I must have missed your question. Honestly the more vague you are, the better because I will be relying on my fellow ledgies to confirm what I saw (at margaritaville), so I would prefer on that part things like: she'll wear black, she'll wear the usual stand back shawl (or saying she'll wear colored dots), the usual gold dust woman shawl (or saying she'll wear gold), etc.

It's not like Michael has to do any of this anyway.
I guess because, like, I tried on the first and second round, but then, if you don't want to do one round, cause you don't like it, or can't do it, or whatever, then you feel like you wasted your other effort (because, at the time of the first round, you did not know what the other rounds would entail, therefore you couldn't really make a completely informed choice about whether you should participate or not). So, like, in theory, I'm thinking things like "crap!" - now I have to try to guess her stupid clothes, if I want to get extra points! Which is actually not fun for me at all. And yes, I realize what I just wrote sounds kind of stupid... But I do feel that way, just a smidge. Of course, the rational part of my brain is winning, and it knows that this is supposed to be fun, and it's great that poetinmyheart started it, and I know that. But now I feel like I have to finish, even though guessing her clothes won't be fun for me. Because I started.
Okay, that's all stupid. I admit it. :distress:

Now I'm also sulking because I don't want to help him figure out what she was wearing right after the concert. Luckily, there will be like, 50 ledgies there who do care about that, and will help him. To me it's more like doing homework on summer vacation.... :D

Seriously though, I have three votes against clothes and none for it at this point so probably at 10:00 tonight I will announce that the clothes guessing ain't happenin'. So far, Ken's idea seems most sensible of 5 points for each correct song and a bonus point for correct placement.

I sent my tallies in a little while ago, can't wait to see the results.
Everyone did a fabulous job, I liked all the stuff that was submitted. Give yourselves a hand. :xoxo: Some of the drawings blew me away and I have to give props to those who sung songs, they were all great (two in particular were chilling to me). Anyway, good job, y'all should be proud to be so talented.

Thanks for judging. I'm curious, did you guys who judged group all like things together, and then judge them against themselves and apply points accordingly? Or did you judge them as a whole group, like, music against graphics against drawings? Or did you each do it different? I was thinking how hard it would be if I had to judge, then decided it would be much easier to judge like things against each other. I couldn't imagine judging a drawing against a song, and like that. Anyway, I was just curious. :wavey:

My input is not to have us guess her clothes.
I second that. Though something tells me a black dress will be in there.

I think the guessing the clothes thing would be way too...hard isn't the word...I don't know. It seems either everyone will get it mostly right, or everyone will get it mostly wrong. Did that just make sense?
I think Ken's idea was best - let's guess the setlist, in order. I'm sure there will be many different answers.
Thanks for doing this contest, poet. I'm having a lot of fun doing it!

I am just going with the setlist.
so, if you're setlist is like
Dreams
Rhiannon
Stand Back
Edge of Seventeen
If all of the above was right you would have 24 points. (4pts each for the four songs being correct, one point for dreams being preceded by nothing, one point for rhiannon being preceded by dreams, etc. AND one point for dreams coming first in the set list, stand back coming fourth in the set list,etc.).
again, they must be e-mailed to my gmail address: thepoetinmyheart@gmail.com. I now have the scores from all three judges, I'll compile, add them to round 1 and post the results in a little while.

Thanks to all who participated, you all are immensley talented. Remember the third round is worth a large amount amount of points, and since it isn't subjective there will be more of a chance of some people getting lots of points and others not so much. There are a few folks who just joined us in the last round, hence some of the large gaps. I'm contemplating adding the lowest score from the first round to all the folks that just joined.
The idea behind that is to promote as many people participating as want to and still have a shot at winning. Likewise I can see how it would be unfair for those that spent hours looking up the right answers (thus while I would just add the lowest score).
If that's just a bad idea, say so, this is my first time running anything like this contest. :D

I have to agree, esp since most people can make up for lost points in the last round. And I'm not just saying that cos I'm ahead at this point, honest.

It's a bad idea.
Even the person with the lowest score worked hard for it! Don't minimize his/her efforts as equivalent to the people who didn't even participate. Why should they get any points for nothing? Just so they can have a chance at winning? Why should people who did nothing have a chance at winning? If the winner beat me because he/she received "gift points" I admit I would be pretty pissed. What is this, the Welfare system?
Sorry, honey, the idea is completely bogus is every way. It goes against the rules you established yourself. Some people think it's "pathetic" to point out rules but they are the only way to keep games fair. I feel strongly that unfair games suck.
Thanks for doing this, BTW. :)

I agree. It's not fair to the people who actually did the first round. If the person didn't take part in a round, they shouldn't receive any points for it.

Just a reminder today is the last day to submit guesses (the deadline is midnight US PST). If you decide to change your guesses please include #2 (or 3 or 4 or however many so that I know what your "final answer" is) in the subject of your e-mail.

hello all, checking in from new york... good job to everyone participating in this contest.
asked about how i judged songs vs. drawings vs. etc... i personally broke up the 50 points and made a quick judgment on each entry. there was no way to compare the entries, couldn't even pit the songs against each other or the drawings against each other. i was really impressed by each entry and hope that we can keep a thread going where everyone can continue to post projects/creations. congrats again!
see you guys tomorrow...M.

We definitely will, and I'm happy to announce that I've already picked up another Stevie HBO poster for ledgie contest 2 as well as a Bella Donna tour backstage pass. This contest, however, won't be for a while, but it will be a little less bumbpy since I will have this one under by belt.

All right folks, I'm back home and had a chance to go through the e-mails. An update on scoring, I gave two points to everyone from round one that didn't list outside the rain or bombay sapphires to make it fair. For this round, everyone got three points for a correct song, and one point if you got a song right that either preceded or followed it, an additional point was added if this was in the correct order So Outside the rain/dreams would have received 8 points total and dreams/outside the rain would have only received seven. After all the tallying is done, the first place winner is.... Trackaghost! (point total of 231) Congrats! Please send me a PM with contact info so I can get your stuff ready.
I've enjoyed all the stuff you guys have done on this contest over the last few weeks. It's been a hoot. I will be running another one in a few months which will be a little less complex.
