Circus Circus is decent, as are the Riviera & Stratosphere. You can get a room for about $50-$65 a night during the week. But these are way on the end of the Strip (about an hour walk to Caesar's, a 20-30 min trolley ride, or a 10-20 minute cab.)

Toward the other end of the Strip is Imperial Palace and Boardwalk, prices about the same. Flamingo (where many of us are staying), Tropicana, Excalibur all may have deals, but they're more up towards $75 - $100 per night.

If you don't care where you stay (on vs. off Strip) downtown has nice hotels too. Fitzgeralds and any of the "Station" hotels are good bets.

Check expedia.com or travelocity.com for the best deals, in my experience.

Are you planning to rent a car? or just going to stay on the strip? Many off strip places are cheap and nice. But, if you are palnning to stay on the strip and looking for no-frills, most of the casinos have midweek specials. The expensive ones are Bellagio, Manadlay Bay, MGM, Paris, Palms and Ceasers....The rest should be comparable. I would try Circus-Circus and Excaliber for deals. The rest I am not familar with as far as how the rooms are. Luxor might be a bit more, but also might have deals also. Vineatian has all suites, so good for sharing if a few are going.

I think others staying here might be able to say what deals they found so far. Sorry not much help, but I haven't stayed at many of the strip hotels myself. .

Unfortuantely what you save by staying dowtown is eaten up and then some by taxi fares.

I won't have a car, so anything I do will be walking or whatever public transportation Vegas has to offer.

I'm the same... I was looking for a no frills hotel too.... I know nothing about Vegas.. Never been there.. Never had a desire to go there... But I'm going for this!!

I booked at the Boardwalk Holiday Inn on the strip... It's right close to New York New York I believe... Close to Cesears... It was $84 for a night during the week... but goes up to $135 on a wknd night. I'm not there really to spend it in the hotel... Just need a safe clean place to sleep...

I mentioned this in another thread but the Excalibur hotel has a week rate of $58 during the week (you have to book through lasvegas.com). The rate also included dinner meal tickets so it's a pretty good deal. Likewise Circus, Circus has a week rate of $51. These hotels are pretty good (excalibur is better than circus, circus, but both are big hotel/casinos ON the strip).

Boardwalk is not bad, we stayed there in October. It's close to everything & clean. Stay away from the buffet though. It's average at best, you can get much better food elsewhere.

OH! And they have a Prince tribute band that plays there - Purple Reign!

I have been looking at travelocity and they have basic hotels like travel lodge and holiday inn listed for fairly cheap.

I just booked my hotel. Im staying at the San Remo. I paid 150.00 for one night but Im going to the Saturday Show so I bet it would be cheaper during th week. It seems like a decent size and nice hotel. Not sure how far it is from Caesars Palace. Im guessing about a mile away according to the map I looked at. So not too bad.

I have heard the hotels downtown like the Golden Nugget ??? are cheap but I also hear its not the best area to stay in... so whatever your comfortable with.
