Many songs remind me of John and Christine as a couple or as individuals. I thought it would be interesting to see what kind of mix this would bring. I'll go first. :)

That's Why I'm Here - Kenny Chesney

No I ain't had nothing to drink
I knew thats probably what you'd think
If I dropped by this time of night
Remember way back when
I promised you I'd drop in
At one of those meetings down at the Y

Well, they started talkin bout steps you take
Mistakes you make
The hearts you break
And the price you pay
I almost walked away

You could hear a pin drop
When this old man
Stood up and said I'm gonna' say it again
Like I do every week
For those who don't know me

It's the simple things in life
Like the kids at home and a loving wife
That you miss the most, when you lose control
And everything you love starts to disappear
The devil takes your hand and says no fear
Have another shot, just one more beer
Yah, I've been there, that's why I'm here

This ole boy stood up in the aisle
Said he'd been living a life of denial
And he cried as he talked about wasted years
I couldn't believe what I heard
It was my life word for word
And all of the sudden it was clear

It's the simple things in life
Like the kids at home and a loving wife
That you miss the most, when you lose control
And everything you love starts to disappear
The devil takes your hand and says no fear
Have another shot, just one more beer
Yah, I've been there, that's why I'm here

I know for us it may be too late
But it would mean the world to me
If you were there when I stand to say
It's the simple things in life
Like the kids at home and a loving wife
That you miss the most, when you lose control
And everything you love starts to disappear
The devil takes your hand and says no fear
Have another shot, just one more beer
Yah, I've been there, that's why I'm here
Oh, I've been there, that's why I'm here

I Might Get over You - Kenny Chesney

Well, I opened my heart, and I let you in
I promised I'd never love again
And still doin what I'd said I'd do
Someday I might get over you

I wear my ring on a chain now, instead of my hand
And I deal with your memories the best I can
I've even been out on a date or two
Someday I might get over you

Oh, I never thought I'd see it
But I think I see the light now
I know that what I have to do
Is get on with my life, but I can't take another day
I can't face another night, so I just take another breath
And let it go

If I could ever feel the way I felt
I'll take a chance with someone else
And if my heart takes chances too
Someday I might get over you

Oh, I never thought I'd see it
But I think I see the light now
I know that what I have to do
Is get on with my life, but I can't take another day
I can't face another night, so I just take another breath
And let it go

Well, I opened my heart, and I let you in
I promised I'd never love again
Right now it's still somethin I can't do
Someday I might get over you

Thought it may not be til my life is through
Someday I might get over you

OK that little bit got to me. He did wear his wedding ring around his neck for awhile, and she wore hers on her other hand. :(

One song that always makes me think of those two is Todd Norcross' "Damn This Storm". I think if I typed the lyrics they'd seem trite, but the emotion in that song really puts you in the mind of a guy who is so desperately missing the woman he loves; every time it rains he remembers them being together and it hits home that he's lost her.

One part that always gets me weepy--

"I wonder if you ever think of me...do you ever say my name in the dark....and I wonder if you still love the rain....or feel the pain."

It makes me cry now just thinking of that song, really. I have always been an over-emotional person!!

Stevie's Think About It.

I totally think it is about Chris and her struggle with the choice to leave John.

I thought about that, too. It's possible. But did she want to leave that early?

Stevie has said Chris really wanted to leave at that time, and that she herself wanted to leave also. But Stevie may be exaggerating a bit...in other interviews she'd said how the 5 of them never thought about bailing out etc. So she basically contradicts herself. But I do like that quote from S about how she and Chris would take turns either 'falling apart or being strong', and that S wrote Think About It during a time when Chris was falling apart, so she was trying to hold her up a little bit.

'Take on the situation but not the torment.' Watta great line, too. :woohoo:

Considering it's on the other Rumours, I can understand why Christine would have been wanting to leave. It's one of my favourite songs, and it's a huge compliment to Christine. It shows how much admiration Stevie had for her and vice versa. I have to listen to Think About It now.

I know you'll go on forever...you're that good.

Yes, I think Chris did think about leaving Fleetwood Mac at that time. Bob Welch even hinted that she was thinking about leaving back in the real early days(the early 70's)because of her problems with John. I'm not sure how seriously she thought about it though.

I also love "Think About It". I wish this song had gone on "Rumours", in place of "I Don't Want To Know". It should have been a Fleetwood Mac song, in my opinion. Still, It was a very nice gesture for Stevie to dedicate the song to Chris on Bella Donna.

That's why I love this forum! I don't know much about Christine's history. I'm glad it's here so I can learn more. :xoxo:

That whole part of the song always gets to me. I Can't Go There reminds me of them in a way also. It's by the same person.

I can't go there
'cause thats just too much us
I can't go there
I still feel your touch
There's places in my heart and head that feel as empty as our bed
So most nights I dont even walk upstairs
'cause I can't go there

Forgiveness always makes me think of Christine singing about John simply with the "Johnny says come around" line. that line makes the song for me.

I'll never forget my reaction to that line. It was September. A few days after the last concert...riding along, looking at the booklet, read it again, and changed the song. I had to hear it.
