View Full Version : Happy Birthday "white winged dove" video/performance
'Twas 23 years ago tonight that Stevie gave her final performance for this "very short tour." Although i wasn't there to see it live, i DID see it a few months later when it was broadcast on HBO when i was the ripe age of 12! SHE cast a spell on me then.....and i WON'T forget her.
So, I want everyone to go home tonight and watch it in celebration!!!

*sigh* Indeed. I LOVE the perfectly timed "tambourine toss" at the end... wait...is that INTK??? No, I think it's G'nB...

I can never get the tambo dance to time right. I know it is two taps to the right....two taps to the left....but the "pathway...ending with a doorway" and "all these years" parts are so hard to get. I'm a dork.

A truly great performance, indeed. I love every minute of it. I used to know the GDW twirls and spider-fingers, and used to practice them with my favorite blue velvet chenille throw... :D
My favorite parts of the show are when Jimmy Iovine comes onstage to play tom-toms during Sara, the FABULOUS Roy Bittan piano solos on G&B and Rhiannon, and Bobbye Hall -- every second they show her on screen. Best ... percussionist ... ever!!!
What a shame that we're having to dig out our dusty and now-warped 25-year old VHS copies of this, instead of listening to it in 5.1 surround on a remastered DVD version, which has been expanded to include the "Leather & Lace" video and the extra songs that were cut from the concert. :( :( :(

Then i am too (was that ever disputed? :D ) because i do the exact same thing. The two taps mess me up sometimes... :o plus, you HAVE to sing along at the same time
Amber "sometimes rhythmically challenged" G.
you're all forgetting about the high kicks too...and the dosey do away we go...swing your partner (waddy) round and round....
my favorite moment is the spasms she does at the end of the song in response (or in sync) to waddy's guitar.
i also love her trying to kiss bob glaub...could his head stop bobbing
 (and no pun intended) for just one second in that concert?

:D :D Mapquest? the high kicks aren't hard, it's the "double tap, other side, and back, then THROW" while singing. or, maybe it's really easy, and i just can't do it :p

Well no. Demos/outtakes and other performances....and Pondering the Millenium Tour. Just so happens the one captured on film rocks. Vocals and all. I can listen to it on Enchanted and still be just as amazed as if I was watching the video. :)

Hat dang this is fitting. Yet another Stevie related occurrence. A member of this board sent a gift to an ill young lady and she got it in the mail yesterday. I was there for a cookie baking party and didn’t know she had it so it was a surprise. Now to see the anniversary of Stevie HBO white wingaling dovearoonie concert was on the same day freaks me out. Stevie related things like this have happened in the past. How about you? What a concert. I love everything about it, but the dressing room chatter is a little strange. I’m surprised it wasn’t cut.
Her voice and stage character are what its all about, but man oh man she looks so fine in everything clinging to and flowing from that luscious bod. Given the chance my tongue would…. I better not. PM me if you want the wet details but no men damnit. “Homey don’t swing dat way!” Ah heck who am I fooling? If Stevie approached me with intentions dressed like that I probably couldn’t. This damn sister pedestal I’ve placed her on would ruin it. :distress:
I just thought of something and you know lil ole me. If I call my blood sister and tell her I need to see her necked, this might get me past the Stevie sister barrier. I know she’d help if I let her keep the boots and tambourine. BRB I’m going to call her. Update: My sister isssss pissed. I wonder what that was all about?
