That HAT - UGH!
Isn't Destiny Galleria supposed to be on the up & up? Kind of odd to me - no photos of Stevie wearing any of this stuff? Hmmmm...
Paula
that "landslide" jacket doesn't look like something she would have worn in 75/76. i don't know. i could be wrong.

I’ll bet “nicksnut’ buys it all. Every huge bid I see nicksnut has won it. I wonder what they do with all that crap?

It is odd that there's no pics but the sig. on the hat looks real-unless one of these kooks actually decided to try and forge it for once instead of just using their own handwriting. I mean, Stevie's handwriting would not be that hard to duplicate!
If I had money to burn- and the item came w/ a pic of Stevie wearing it I would buy. That would be a great bit of memorabilia to have. I especially like those Tango dresses that were up recently at Chrisities or Sothebys.

I question the authenticity of these eauctionsales autographs. It seems odd to me that they have a virtually neverending supply of signatures that look so similar as to appear to have been done in one sitting. And although they resemble Stevie's writing, something still looks not quite right about them to me. In any case, that hat? Is atrocious

I must admit I'm beginning to wonder too. If it had been a few items then fair enough but there has been tons of them! I can't imagine Stevie signing that much stuff for someone to flog on ebay!

Yeah. I dunno, those sigs look shady to me. It's also a little weird that Stevie would sign the case to a cassette with demos on it for someone to sell, no? Obviously they do have some legitimate memorabilia (rare photos, a couple Fritz prints that were up awhile back, etc), but I'd be weary of buying autographs or "investment piece" type items. Didn't someone also post on another forum recently about some of the Wild Heart rings and jewelry being fake/reproductions?

My stance on autographs......If you didn't see them sign it, or know the source REALLY REALLY well.............I wouldn't touch any with a ten foot pole. As I said in another post, I had a friend who worked on a sitcom, and one of her jobs was to sign photos for the actors. She was so good even THEY could not tell hers from their own. Same goes for COA's and reciepts...unless you have a photo of them wearing it, .....How can you prove anything? A COA isn't worth the paper its printed on. Again, know the source well. I figure if some of these places knew Stevie so well, as to get tons of stuff signed, they would have a photo of her singing atleast a few of them. Digital cameras makes it easy. Who knows........

Why would anyone get rid of a ring or jewelry given to them by Stevie? Not like she hands them out at the door at holloween.

I didn't mean she wasn't generous, I meant that the people should appreciate them.

When I saw some of the stuff being offered by Destiny Galleria via Ebay on the latest itsonlyrockandroll.com auction, I nearly freaked. I too have been rather skeptical about a lot of the "Stevie Owned and Worn" stuff that's been offered on ebay over the last year or so. I thought itsonlyrockandroll.com would be more reputable after reading info from their website. I'm a little confused now, especially after seeing their latest Stevie offerings. They had those blue satin gloves "from OSOTM tour" with the sequin spanglie thing on the top part of the hand and the signed red acrylic heart. I have NEVER seen any pics of Stevie wearing gloves like that.
I did buy a lace blouse from itsonlyrockandroll.com, claimed to have been worn by Stevie on the Tango tour. I paid almost a thousand dollars for it. They sent a pic of what they thought was her wearing it, only I knew it wasn't the same blouse. Thankfully, after much digging round on the internet, I did find a pic of Stevie wearing the blouse. Even tho the picture isn't very good, it's very distinctive on the front, so I assume it is the same one.
I was also lucky enough to find a Christine outfit on ebay several years ago, then found a picture of her wearing it a couple years later. That outfit was much cheaper than the Stevie blouse.
Photos really are the best provenance. Of course that's not 100% guarantee that the celebrity actually wore that outfit. Sometimes they are given "samples" to try. If they like it, they can send the sample back to the dressmaker, who will make a higher quality dress of the same design, with finished seams, etc. Many times it's hard to tell a sample from the real thing unless you are a professional dressmaker.
Anywho, it's pretty tricky buying celebrity memorabilia. I recall a quote by Ginny Kamano with regard to this issue (back when she was doing Stevie fan email)... "buyer beware."
By the way, just before Stevie's mom closed SSE, Mary Lynn wrote to me saying her mom would probably sell items again in the future, however it would be done in a very different way because Barbara is getting pretty old to be doing the Hopi House thing. (paraphrased.) So, I often wondered if she wasn't working thru these other people. ??? Who knows.
