View Full Version : Stop Draggin My Heart Around with Sheryl (karaoke?)

I downloaded SDMHA with Stevie on lead vocals and Sheryl doing Tom's part. All the words are messed up and Stevie seems to be really letting loose (aka she seems not-sober!) and I know she wasn't doing cocaine post-metting-sheryl. So, is this that drunken karaoke I had heard so much about? And when was this done and was it announced or did her and sheryl just decide to go clubbing one night? What is this, I'm intrigued?

Wasn't this in New York City... There was a bunch of people there, Sheryl was the one putting on the show, I thought around the time her last cd came out... it was a small club, as I remember.

It's from April of 2001. Great show, IMO. Stevie was drunk as a skunk, It's Only Love and Stop Draggin' confirms that fact. Kid Rock is also on it. Here's the setlist:
Walk Away, My Favorite Mistake, If It Makes You Happy, It Don't Hurt, Don't Tell Me/Sweet Home Alabama, If I Was President Of The United States, Come And Go Blues, Drift Away, Love Hurts, Not Fade Away, Ain't That A Shame, Black Betty, Slow Ride, Do You Want My Love, Too Far From Texas, It's Only Love, Leather & Lace, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around, The Difficult Kind, There Goes The Neighborhood, Tie Your Mother Down
Ok - so where can I download this at?

This show is known as Sheryl Crow And Friends Live At The Shine Club, 4/30/01. It is a horrible performance. The band is just screwing around and there are very few bright moments in the show. Stevie's performance is the worst I've ever heard from her. :sorry:

Are you kidding, I mean it's in some ways horrible, but it's one of her best performances in recent history. It truly prooves she needs to be drunk at more concerts. She's so spontainious and just can't remember her own danm lyrics. It's so Rock a Little tour.

It sounds nothing like the brilliant anamoly that is the RAL Tour.
She can't even figure out what key she's singing in. The spontanaeity sounds forced to me. It's horrid.

I like a lot of Sheryl's songs. Kid Rock is annoying, but he's only a few songs, thankfully. I like a lot of the covers she did that night.
Stevie isn't particularly memorable, but it's a great novelty show.

The covers were fun. I'm listening to TFFT now and it's as bad as I remember. SDMHA is unbelievably bad.

I was wondering where this appalling version of SDMHA came from! Sheebus . But now that I've had a chance to listen again, her butchering of the lyrics is pretty hysterical:
...you come knockin' on my front door,
Same old thing you used to do before.
I said I can't get it on time
What can you do to make me... survive?
Yeah, you buckle with the weight of the word,
Yeah, you're keepin' some demons down
Stop draggin' my,
Stop draggin' my,
Stop draggin' my heart around.
There's people runnin' 'round loose in the world,
They ain't got nothin' better to do.
They make a meal of some bright-eyed girl.
You need someone to take care of you.
I know you really wanna be your own girl
I know you really wanna tell me goodbye.
Baby, you could never really look me in the eye
Yeah you buckle with the weight of the word,
Stop draggin' my,
Stop draggin' my,
Stop draggin' my heart around.
People runnin' 'round loose in the world,
They ain't got nothin' better to do,
Well they make a meal of some bright-eyed girl,
I think you need someone to take care of you
I know you really wanna be your own girl
I know you really wanna take your own... way
Baby, you could never really look me in the eye
(Look me in the eye)
Yeah, you buckle with the weight of the word
(Weight of the word)
Stop draggin' my,
Stop draggin' my,
Stop draggin' my heart around.
Stop...
Stop...
You stop...
Stop...
Stop...
You stop...
Stop...

It is no wonder that this song was notched down a key or two for the TISL tour... I don't know what key she was hearing in her head! But you've gotta love Mama for making up lyrics that rhyme with her flubs.

There is some Funny stuff in that song, but this takes the cake for me.
I know you really wanna be your own girl
I know you really wanna take your own... way
Take your own... way? The way she things it too. And I just realized Stevie's not even butchering her own song, she's really butchering Tom's words

My favorite part of that song is at the beginning when Stevie starts to sing before everyone else. Then Sheryl says "Wait for us!" or something like that, but Stevie keeps singing.. then she goes "I know my part!"
Awesome.

I LOVE this show! I listened to it a lot when I first got it. I like Kid Rock's ad libs on the President song (My first lady would be Stevie Nicks). I think if Stevie knew a bootleg would have hit the masses, she would have stayed a little more sober and tried to sing better. But, this is clearly a girl having a fun night out on the town, being silly with her friends and about 200 or so lucky club-goers!

I first heard this with Livia in her room in Nashville while getting ready for the concert. She was in the bathroom doing her hair and make up and getting all beautimous, which was not too hard LOL - and the Shine stuff came on. I was like WHOA what the hell is this. After a few songs, she was like - isn't this COOL - I have to admit I thought the flubs were funny and was glad to hear her having an apparently GREAT time. I think she even makes a comment about not knowing the words
So, thanks to Livia for the memories!!!!!!!! :xoxo:
