Need your help... Was there a promo CD single release (for radio) for "Unconditional Love." Someone on one of the discussion boards was saying that UL was actually the frontrunner for the lead single from STREET ANGEL, before the album was ultimately delayed. I've never seen it anywhere, but was wondering if anyone had it in their collection.

You know... I just read about this the other day.
Back in September of 93 Ginny Kamano apparently on Prodigy (what ever that is) came on and told everyone that due to scheduling Atlantic has pushed back Street Angel to an anticipated release date of January, 1994. She also said that the single had been changed from Unconditional Love to Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind.
Apparently the single was supposed to be released 9/30/93 and the album on 10/5/93.
Now whether promos had been printed and not used, I have no idea. I've never seen anything of the sort.
And that's about all I know on this subject.... If this helps.

Ah, thanks MacMan and WelshWitchPMD. Yeah, I didn't think promos for UL existed...at least I've never seen them on eBay or at any record show. But the person who posted about it made it seem like radio was playing it on the radio as the lead single, and then stopped after learning that the album release had been delayed.

I only have the radio promo for the entire cd of SA. I am unaware of a UL single promo.

I have a Warner/Atlantic promo cassette that came out in the summer of '93 that has "Unconditional Love" on it, announcing it as the first single. It's a multi-artist promo deal, white label, nothing spectacular. The UL mix is also slightly different, but that could be just the way it sounds on cassette, I guess. I've never seen anything of the sort on CD.
A friend of mine at the time also had some kind of industry trade sheet that announced the album, and gave a completely different track listing. Of what I remember, it listed "Love and War", "She Calls You Missing" (instead of "Love Is Like A River"), and "Darklands" (instead of "Docklands"). It also had a version of the B&W photo that ended up on the promo poster and postcard, but no other remarkable info.

That promo poster where she looks like she's standing in a corner against a wall... and in bare feet, should have been the cover!!
Does this look familar to anyone? It's from ebay.

Yes, that should have been the cover!
Could the list you posted be what are called the "Abbey Road Mixes"? I've downloaded those, but have never seen an mp3 for "I Call You Missing". It has to be a different song altogether than "Love Is Like A River" or the Rock A Little outtake, even though some of the verses are the same.
And I've heard the SA version of "If You Were My Love" (aka Tropical Version), but I have a hard time believing that take/mix would have been considered for the disc.
So does that mean I'm missing two Stevie demo mp3s??? Aieeeeeeeee - I won't be able to sleep!!!
