View Full Version : The most beautiful singer at her best moment

Now choose your favorite beautilful rock/pop lady, at your favorite moment. Mine is Olivia Newton John during her Grease-Totally Hot era (1977-1979)

Followed by Stevie Nicks during her Tusk era.

This is not about talent or songs, is just about the look, he he!

Choose one or mention if it's not in the list (sure there's a lot). Don't forget to mention the time she was the hottest!

Debbie kills everyone when it comes to hotness. She never really did any of the crazy perms and big hair **** that most singers did back in the day. She looks like a porcelain doll with perfect skin, but wild and adventurous with her clothes and personality. That face could stop traffic. The lips, the eyes, the round little cheeks, etc.

If I had to pick eras where I thought she was the most gorgeous, I'd go with Eat To the Beat ('79-'80) and No Exit ('98-'99):

I kind of agree. That was when she wore some pretty cool **** and she looked rather radiant all around.

I agree, and nice pic. However, I think Stevie's performances are much sexier. It's like where one girl isn't as pretty, but her personality is way sexier, so you like her. :D
So, I would pick Stevie live during Mirage, or doing Golden Braid, or I Need to Know, or Edge, during, i guess Bella Donna.

I think Debbie's performances are a big part of the charm for me. She's a bit aloof and distant, giddy and shy, brash but reserved all at the same time. She rarely looks like the most comfortable person onstage, but it's kind of like she's letting the audience know that it isn't easy to be up there but she's gonna do it anyways. Sort of like when she takes a rose, bites the head off, and spits the petals into the audience. She does it, then seems a bit horrified that she did it, but jumps about and goes to the next thing. It's very alluring.

I'm going to start sounding like I hate Debbie, which isn't the case at all.
But I think what you just described is exactly why I've never been a rabid Debbie fan... even though I've often loved a lot of her songs ("French Kissin' In The U.S.A.," chief among them).

She just never seems to exude confidence on stage... she always seems somewhat clunky and uncomfortable to me. I don't see a stage presence that captures my interest.

The songs are aces, but the lack of stage presence leaves me cold. (I should note that she does seem to be having a little more fun up there now, in more recent clips I've seen.)

No, you don't hate her, she just doesn't wear chiffon or go by the name Stevie.

Face it, Le Stew, it could be anyone but they would all pale in comparison to the lethargic creature we've come to know as Stevie Nicks. BUT - that's your taste and if it makes you happy, it can't be that bad. And did I expect anyhting differently on a Mac board? Hell no.

Stevie's stage presence isn't much of anything to shake a stick at these days, IMO, and hasn't been up to snuff for a long while. She's past her prime and should concentrate on recording her good material and leaving the touring to those that can still do it justice.

If that's how you feel, more power to ya. :xoxo: I could give two ****s.

Stevie stinks these days, that's just my opinion. She's a pale shadow of her former self. Doesn't make the music bad, it just makes her boring onstage and not worth the $125 it costs to see her leave the notes to her cadre of background singers.

Different strokes for different folks.

I quite like Debbie, always have and still enjoy her onstage. I quite like Stevie, but a shining star she is not at the present moment when it comes to the stage.

See, I like how stiff Debbie is onstage (although she's not stiff on things like Live By Request or Live '99). Like in Musikladen, she just stands at the microphone, arms straight down to her side, and sings with a goofy look on her face. I think that look has become somewhat of her trademark, the side-glance, barely-moving mouth, etc. Also when she sings out of just one side of her mouth. But when she DOES decide to move, like in the Detroit 442 video or live performances of Rapture, etc, you can tell she's having fun and just rocking out.

And have you seen Debbie dance? Honestly. It's not that good. Evidence? Island of Lost Souls video. :distress:

I vote for Stevie in the present.
It's enough for me to watch LIB, and especially her Beautiful Child performance. The class, the emotions filtered through a voice that comes as a wild caress, the braveness of her soul singing. Her eyes, telling a story. No shields at all, just music, art, a woman. Absolutely beautiful.

I voted for Stevie Nicks.

Now I know this is a Fleetwood Mac site and it should be obvious who we choose right? Well I'm primarily a Buckingham and John McVie fan, not a Stevie fan and although I do like some of Stevie's work a lot of it just isn't what flicks my switch...

However,

I do think Stevie is the most feminine and beautiful singer in this collection and the moment I would pick personally which defines my choice is Stevie during Go Your Own Way from the '82 Mirage gig (played on my birthday :D ) The red lipstick, hair and that top hat.... :] :] :] Plus when she sings and looks at Lindsey you get a close up of her eyes glistening with a rather sexually charged expression.... Yessir, that's my choice...

Hey, I admit I prefer Stevie. Otherwise we'd be having this conversation on a Debbie Harry message board.

I've said it a million times, Stevie is NOT the woman she used to be on stage... her performances have greatly changed and evolved since the '80s.
Some feel she's lethargic and boring... I feel she's grown and matured. It's a difference of opinions, but for me, I think she'd look ridiculous if she were still behaving like a drugged-out maniac.

Her performances still move me, and I still find her ultra-compelling. If I didn't, then I would have moved on ages ago.

(For the record, I also greatly enjoy Tina Turner, Madonna, Cher, Cyndi Lauper, Terri Nunn, Ann & Nancy Wilson, and a whole host of other female performers... I'm just not bowled over by Ms. Harry when it comes to live performances. )

Debbie all the way!!1!1one

She's tied with Bono and Chrissie Hynde as my absolute favorite vocalist of all time. She's got it all: voice, looks, personality, stage presence, talent, everything.

Mind you, I love Stevie, but Debbie's number one for me.

You have a problem exagerating to make a point. Stevie's gone to stinking now  Come on. Watch LIB again, she is in no way the same as 70's Stevie but she is still very very very good at what she does and put a lot of energy into those shows. Just watch EOTW, GYOW, SB, GDW, and Don't Stop for refernences. And plus, I'd say Stevie was on;y about 50 of the 125 dolalrs and Lindsey was 75, so I'd say she was really worth 50.

AND last but certainly not least this poll is not about these people currently, it's them at their prime. And me and I'm sure many others are voting for Stevie in the last 70's early 80's.

Yes, she has gone to stinking now. As I've said a million times, it started in 2000 and has only gone downhill since then. But if you think she puts lots of energy into those shows, fine. I don't and think she's become incredibly dull. Quite frankly, I'm sick of the same old stuff that she insists on doing and the routine that she has down-pat has simply added to her dullness. Even concert reviews have begun pointing out her "robotic" movements. There are only so many times one can listen to her sing Dreams and Rhiannon and Gold Dust Woman the same as every other time with nothing new. It certainly isn't worth my $125. As for those dollar amounts you pulled out of your hat, I've no idea what to make of them. What is the point of them? I do agree that seeing Stevie live these days is only worth $50, though.

As much as I love Stevie I just don't think she stacks up to Debbie looks wise.

No, I said she never really did any of that perming **** to hair, nor did she fashion her hair to compete with the leaning tower of Piza for height. ;) I hardly think wearing a wig for an album cover and never wearing it again counts.
