to wish ALL veterans a "Thank you" for their service on this Veteran's Day...

I also wish to send a hardy F.U. to those ABC affiliates who have REFUSED to air tonights broadcast of "Saving Private Ryan" because of the graphic content & language...They know who they are (Including the OKC affiliate who also refused and showed in it's place the boring Ron Howard film "Far And Away"!)

At the risk of sounding cheesy, contrived, and/or like one of Stevie's Q&A answers on the Nicksfix, I want to express my gratitude to all the veterans out there. I am more thankful for what they've done than I know how to express, and when I was younger, I could not grasp the importance of this day, and I think I probably still don't, I just might have a little bit of a better idea of how much weight it carries.

ps-Nothing against the Ron Howard movie, But I remember how hyped it was when released and I was very disappointed...Poor Ronnie Howard, Yer Oklahoma hometown is known more for "Hella-Burton" than EVER for you

I would be grateful for the lack of Saving Private Ryan actually. Not exactly a fan of Mr 'I know, another reaction shot followed by some cliched dialogue' Spielberg. The Thin Red Line however, I do approve of.

I agree. Saving Private Ryan was a putrid film, like most of Spielberg's movies. The only ones I've truly enjoyed were The Color Purple and Empire of the Sun. Suffice to say he doesn't have a good batting average.

I'm not a Spielberg fan, But I do like War movies...So I am forgiving of this one.

Have you seen Gallipoli? Just trying to knock a bit of Australian culture into you. It's from 1981, by Peter Weir. I do apologise because it comes with some Mel Gibson on the side, well actually more or less in the centre.

Gallipoli is Australia's (and New Zealand's) defining battle, the problem being that Mr 'hero boy' Churchill was kind of responsible.

that movie awhile back (With a rather young Mel Gibson, Before he went looney with "The Passion of the Mel/Christ")...But I do remember it being rather interesting.

My fave WWII movie is "The Big Red One" with Mark Hamill & Lee Marvin.

THANK YOU to all the veterans. :)

My dad was in the Air Force and my grandfather was in WWII.

I've seen Gallipoli, we watched it in World History class when I was in the 10th grade. Pretty good movie.
