I just heard it on an ABC special about Weddings! :D They were profiling 24 hours at a Las Vegas wedding chapel and they played some of it over the end of the piece.

She does such an amazing version of it! I was excited to hear it used on the show!

And she still should do a complete show with songs like this.

Crap. I watched some of that show before going out - the piece about the descendants of slaves getting married with the slaveowner's descendant in attendance. I would have loved to have heard that song on TV.
Certainly a better version than Christina Aguilera's or Cyndi Lauper's (though the latter is better than the former).

I agree. Her voice was made to sing those big old romantic jazz numbers.

*le sigh*

You know what, I actually think that would be a good idea...an entire album of Stevie covering jazz standards...she has a voice meant for them

It's an Etta James classic. You'd probably know it if you heard it.

I would jump out of a window if Stevie ever decided to do an all Jazz like songs album. I don't care if it suits her voice. I'd rather hear a million more versions of her trying her hardest to sing Rhiannon like she used to although falling a bit short, then to have this all Jazz thing. And this is one time I'm happy Stevie doen't like to take risks

Even an album of standards featuring duets with Celine and Barbra?

I may jump out a window if I have to hear Rhiannon again in it's current incarnation. As it is, I started walking to the bathroom Sunday night halfway through the song in Irvine.
You needn't worry, Hawkeye, I don't suspect she would do something so revolutionary and artistically challenging. I am just thankful she has done the few songs in that style that she has done. It is at least a hint of what she is capable of doing.

I LOVE Stevie's version of this song! Count me in as one who would love to hear her do an entire album of jazz. I think it would be great! Hmm, I'll think pull out that Stormy Weather CD when I get home from work tonight.

Have you heard Stevie's version of "At Last" or "Sunday Kind of Love". I don't know how you could have and still feel the way you do about her recording an album of these type of songs. They are awesome! Something about hearing Stevie backed by a full orchestra. I'd also love to hear her backed by a choir on a song. I love "Silent Night" but I always thought it would have sounded good with a choir instead of Robby Nevile. Come to think of it, wouldn't it be great if she did some more Christmas songs?

I totally agree, but it never would have even crossed my mind until I heard At Last (after which I practically needed a diaper!). This would be a great project for her now-huskier voice!:blob2:

I like Cyndi's version, it's more raw and unique than any version I've heard. And she has a beau-tee-ful voice. :D

I like her voice, but on this song, it sounds... if I can borrow a word from Stevie's early reviews, "callow" comes to mind.
But I do like Cyndi typically.

. She does an amazing job, but I'm just sorry I don't like THAT KIND of music. I just don't. And to me Stevie isn't that kind of singer. Her voice might be suited for it which I say it isn't but I just don't think so. to me Stevie is about so much MORE then what her voice is suited for. The way she sings a song is just so msgical. Rhiannon for instance nowadays may loose a little somethign in vocals but the passion is really still there. And to me her passion isn;t in those Jazz songs. She had to sing those at those benifits because that was the theme.

I understand what you're saying and agree with a lot of it, but the album would still be an awesome project out of left field for Stevie. Like "look what else I'm capable of!" I can see, though, not wanting her to do it anytime soon...that she should stick to rock 'n' roll until she retires from the stage (if she ever does!) and then branch out album-wise. (Still want that country album, too!)
