Who do you enjoy watching on the news?

My personal favorite: Dan Abrams on MSNBC.

Why?

He likes to get straight to the point and calls people out if they avoid his questions. Plus, I don't think he can necessarily be "pigeon-holed" into a particular camp with his views.

Examples:

Plus, he's a hottie! :D

Connie Colla. Former NBC10 Philadelphia news anchor, now CN8. I got to work with her at CN8 and she's just a really great woman.

I like Peter Jennings a lot, but I *love* Chris Matthews on Hardball. He cracks me up.

Jon Stewart - even though it isn't technically news.

Anderson Cooper-because I think he's cute and Wolf Blitzer (sp?)-because I also find him sexy in an old man type way lol....

for someone who's in the news industry I actually watch VERY little television news.....haha...so my picks are for pretty dumb reasons :D

I don't get cable, so I'm limited.

I know I don't care for Jennings.

There's a guy on CBS, not Rather, whom I like. I'm not sure I'd know his name.

Hey, Marissa, do you watch Jim Gardner & Lisa Thomas Laury? I loved her when I lived back east.

Oh yeah, I haven't seen her anchor in an age, of course, but I love Linda Ellerbee. She was the guest narrator for one night in Austin for The Vagina Monologues, and that made the play for me.

BTW, Sparky, on the few occasions when I've seen Jon Stewart's show, I've liked it.

Hey, do Emily Litella and Gilda Radner count as anchors?:)

Yes I do! Action News is pretty much the only local news I will watch (after Connie Colla and then John Bolaris's departure from NBC 10, it went down hill BIG TIME and I can't stand to watch).

I don't think I know Connie and John, but I've never found local news anchors to match Philadelphia's.
I'll have to PM you my Jim Gardner and Chris Wagner stories in the next few days.

Connie rolled into town from Phoenix in 1996. John (the meteorologist) came from Z100 in NYC and I believe he also did the weather for one of the news stations up there as well. He was the resident playboy of Philly and dated Jane Robelot years ago before moving onto designer Nicole Miller and then finally onto Lauren Heart (daughter of the former Flyers owner/manager, I believe). Yes, do tell your stories....you know that was my major and I've worked with some of these people

"The poodle is the black man of the dog world!"

I love when they do this skit!

Has anyone else seen them?

Are you kidding ? This is the first year I have watched it, and it is uneven, but so damned funny at times. It must have been incredible in the past. How about "Boy Meets Goy" ? I almost fell out of bed each time I saw that. There was this UPN Hollywood Squares thing that had the same effect on me.

I forgot all about her. She is fantastic. I remember her from the late 70's or early 80's anchoring some show that was on at 1 or 2 in the morning. Overnight ? Allnight ? Something like that. I loved her tag line "And so it goes...".

By far...Jimmy Fallon & Tina Fey....but, I like Jon Stewart, too.

Seriously, I still miss Walter Cronkite.

No real favorite out of the following crew:

National:
Dan Abrahams
John Siegenthaler
Keith Olbermann
Lester Holt
Chris Matthews
Peter Jennings
(can you tell when I watch REAL news, it is usually MSNBC? )

Local (Los Angeles):
Hal Fishman
Emmett Miller/Sharon Tay

You should watch the reruns on Comedy Central (they're on every day, all damn day!) of the old episodes. It was so f*cking funny (I mean "fall-over-and-piss-yourself" funny!) back in the day. This was before Debra Wilson and Nicole Sullivan left the show; they were the greatest. I love Mo Collins, too. Debra Wilson did the BEST Whitney skits!!!

"My man is all the drug I need! The only drug this DIVA needs!!! My man, on top of me...hot and sweaty...wild MONKEY LOVE!! Yeah, the king of R&B, my man, my drug, my cocaine, my joint, Mr. Whiteny Houston, the numba one DIVA, Bobby Brown!! F*ck BB King, my man is the king!"

I used to see him all of the time in Atlanta. I work across from CNN and my posse' ( ) and I go to CNN Center to eat lunch in the food court. AC in tiny and very nice - he waited behind me in line once  I should have told him thank goodness the Vanderbilt money is in trust because my friend Dissention wants it all to go the Fed.'s for redistribution to the poor

(Dissention, I could not resist and am sure you know I am totally joking  ) :wavey:

I love his irreverant delivery of the news. One night a female reporter did a segment on aging and at the end she was sitting at the desk with AC and remarked about how they weren't aging that well. Anderson looked at her with a sideways glance and quipped, "Speak for yourself." It was hilarious.

Did you see the show where he had Michael Stipe as co-anchor? I laughed my ass off the whole time; it was fantastic.
