Hey,

Someone sent this to me earlier today and I don't know anything about it. It sounds just like the extended version to me (same length, too), but I could be wrong. Anyone know anything about it?

Thanks! :D

Guess what? Our very own Johnny Stew made that mix out of the radio Gpysy and the ext. version of Gypsy. I loved it so much I asked him if I could put it on my site for download and he kindly consented. :)

Just a teeny-tiny correction, and then an explanation! :)

It's actually a hybrid of the 'Mirage' album version and the "alternate unedited version" from 'The Chain' boxed-set. (But Nancy is right... the radio version is basically an edited version of what you're hearing there.)

As far as the edit I made...
If you have the boxed-set version, you may have noticed that, at about the 3 minute mark, where Stevie would normally sing the "whoa-oh, ohh-ahh" ad-lib (as heard in the album version and all other versions), the boxed-set mix just has an instrumental passage there instead.

So, quit simply, I edited the album version and the boxed-set version together, to get a more "complete" mix.

It's really such a minor thing, but I think it's better this way. Now nothing is missing. :)

Thanks, Johnny!

I have so many versions of Gypsy that after awhile, they all sound the same.

This is one of my Stevie Favourites, in fact I like it so much I decided to have a go singing it myself. I dubbed out Stevie's vocals and put my own in, in the comfort of my own home of course, only using the very basic of equipment (my hi fi) ha and mic, but it worked and I like it!

The kids cringed a bit on the "oh la la la" bit and the "oooh oooh and it all comes down to you" but I don't care, I thought I was Stevie for a few minutes, twirling round in the living room singing Gypsy like a mad gypsy woman and the kids on the sofa with faces saying "is she really our mum?"

But I think I'll keep my version under wraps for now :) :)

Anyone else had a go at singing their own versions of any FM songs? Come on, be honest all you hairbrush fanatics. Let's hear your stories.

Lorraine :)

The next thing we know is Lindsey asking for your advice with the next Stevie production. ;)

Back to my favourite track "GYPSY" I like the way when Stevie sang this live at the MEN Manchester the lyrics.... "to a room with some lace and paper flowers" and she touched the paper flowers that were attached to her mic stand, I thought that was really sweet when she did that.

She really does want to reach out to her audience.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
