View Full Version : A hole?

Hi all,

I was reading an interview with Stevie and it said that she had a hole in her nose from all of the coke she did. They said it was the size of a dime.

Is this true? The only reason I don't quite believe this is:
A) This hole doesn't seem noticable AT ALL...although I guess it could and would be on the inside.
AND...more importantly...
B) In the same interview they said that 'Say You Love Me' was on Rumours and that Lindsey had twin girls.

Uhhh...

LOL! Just looking for a little confirmation. I'm currious. Thanks.

while i agree that article was a little off...Stevie herself has said she has a hole in her nose, and cannot get it fixed because it would change her voice

I've read several accounts of this and I beleive it is true. I think the hole is in the septum of her nose and I always understood it to be bigger than a dime. Apparently long term cocaine use is very hard on the membranous linings..... and other things. I think it still is painful for her, but she is unwilling to fix it for fear of it changing her voice.

How much different could her voice be?

Listen to the difference between her pre-coke, mid-coke & post-coke voice...maybe she SHOULD be "fixin' the hole"

(warning, warning: cheap Beatle reference)

I was thinking just what ChiliD posted. I wonder if it is the whole in her nose that makes her voice sound the way it does now. It's very nasal.

Hahaha...I'm sorry but I took the title of this thread the wrong way.

Her voice sounds craploads better to me than it did in the coke years. Take a listen to any RAL concert bootlegs if you want any proof of that.

Stevie's voice was nasally even before all of this. She sounds really nasally at times on the Dreams studio version. I think Lindsey even said at one point that he and Stevie do sound very nasally while Christine sounded more like a pure singer.

I've seen or read that this hole is: the size of a dime; the size of a quarter; big enough to slide a belt through. And I'm pretty sure it was Stevie that said each one of them (which explains why they are conflicting stories:nod: ).
All I could think of when I heard the belt one was: remember the kid in your gradsechool cafeteria that could take a spaghetti noodle and shove it up one nostril and pull it out the other to gross people out? Well Stevie could do that much more impressively with a belt! say at the family Christmas dinner or something!
And actually I like qualities of her voice in each one of her stages. In my opinion the only real consistent thing about her voice is its inconsistency. It seems at every stage she has made some great recordings and had some incredible live performances. And in each stage she has made some performances where her voice was so flat or so off key that it almost makes you wince. And that is meant just as an observation, not a a slam (cuz I do love her!).

I've heard the belt thing most often.

And one of Stevie's talents has been (usually) to write/select the right songs to fit her voice at different stages of her career. Some, like Sorcerer, are timeless. But I cannot imagine a 1986 version of Cryin' in the Night or a 1973 version of Seven Wonders. I know SW is very 80s, but I mean if she could have used that 80s production in 1973, I cannot imagine her vocal fitting as well. She's smart.

the fact that her voice sounds nasal has little to do with the coke its mearly the way that she sings. Ive been taking voice lessons for over a year now and my teacher is really hung up on what "resonato" I use. people whos voices are untrained tend o sing in the nasal resonator becase its easer and its lounder than your yead or shest. I use my nose way to much becase when i preform its alot of rock stuff which sounds really pompus in my head and chest but with her and in recitals its all about head chest and mixing stuff. woah way of topic and that probably is not making sence to anyone soory. but nasal ness is not nesacarily from the cocain its where the sound is resonalting in her body. personally i would hate for Stevie to take voice lessons and to learn to use those other parts becase i love her voice the way it is. sure i miss the way it was in the 70's. but i love it now too. sorry i was just adding something random due to peaople discussion about her voice being nasal do to drugs and well i wrote more than i planned on

DownOnRodeo-That's too much! I think I see some potential here for this to pick up where BlackDress left off.

Well this could be a Hole in My Septum
Hole in My Septum
Hole in My Septum from Coke

And the Dr. said
"' Been snortin' too much coke!"
You could put a belt through that
At Christmas dinner for a joke

And the doctor was a dream
And then the dream came true
WhenI want sompin' sompin'
I get it

Well yes he found a
Hole in My Septum
Hole in My Septum
Hole In My Septum from Coke

ROTFLMAO!!!!!! God, that's catchy!
God forgive me, but while we were discussing passing belts thru septums at Christmas dinners, I had a sudden vision of Stevie sporting a ring thru her nose...the kind reserved for oxen...could you imagine if she came out on stage one day sporting that? The new Stevie Nicks "look"?!
