Has our Diva made a big mistake by not making time to appear on this year's Diva's Duets? It's theme is tailor-made for our girl who is the Queen of Duets...

Stop Draggin' My Heart Around - Tom Petty
Leather and Lace - Don Henley
Whenever I Call You Friend - Kenny Loggins
Gold - John Stewart (hey, it was popular in it's day)
and of course, her major duet partner, Lindsey...

maybe I'm wrong, maybe the show is played but I still think she let an opportunity for both her and the Mac pass by. She did great at last years show performing Landslide with the Dixie Chicks and the girls then took her song back to the top of the charts...

it would be great and smart too, if Linsdey (he's a diva too :) )and her took a midnight plane out to Las Vegas and made a secret surprise guest appearance

Lord Have Mercy, I hope she doesn't. I was horrified she did the other one. IMO, Steve is completely above this whole "diva" silliness. She is in a completely different class. The publicity would be fine, but it's beneath her. As are the other performers, generally.

Most of the women on those shows are car alarm vocalists and bimbos. I made the mistake of watching part of one, and had the misfortune of seeing Mary J. Blige and Anastasia butchering Pat Benatar's "Love Is A Battlefield". That stage was a battlefield - a battle of two women who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. My skin crawls just thinkin' about it !

Too Far From Texas is my nomination. Hearing her and Natalie sing it live together at the AH-I convention 12/01 was *amazing*!!!

hey sparky, I appreciate your personal feelings however regarding the Diva's concerts, it is one of VH1's premier events and could be potentially great exposure for the band and the new album.

I personally see an opportunity is passing FM by AGAIN!!

Divas Be Gone!

I concur strongly with you Sparky! I love your term "car alarm vocalists!" I was horrified to see Stevie associated with the first Divas special. Yes, I guess by some people that is considered a "premier event." Save it for prima donnas like Celiones (sic) and Whitneys...and other slick and shlocky vocal gymnists of the world. That is so not Stevie!! And thank God for that.

Missed marketing opportunity? lol! You think Stevie and Fleetwood Mac are concerned with marketing? They are not that crass! Their focus is music. And as ill-advised as they are by the people who are in charge of their marketing...thankfully they didn't encourage her to do it for exposure!! Cool, reasonable heads prevailed. At this point in her career, does she really need exposure????? Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess what? Exposure itself isn't unequivically a good thing. It's a matter of getting the right exposure. Divas isn't it. Stevie is ever a rock and roller...never a "Diva."

Plus, look at the matter from a real practical, logistical sense...
Yes, Stevie bounces back and forth between her solo career and Fleetwood Mac...but not in the middle of things! She's been immersed in Fleetwood Mac now...recording, promoting and touring.

Why would she, all of a sudden, do an about face and appear solo? At the moment she's a group member, not a soloist. And for the whole group to appear? That would signal the beginning of the end! An "opportunity" for them to squander their reputation and kill their careers!

lol, I've been trounced!!! :p

I know most FM/Stevie fans I've met a hard rock & rollers and lots are country fans, but I come from a different part of the music spectrum and am a dance music fan. So I see the good fit that Stevie would be in this years concert based on the Diva Duets' theme.

Bella! You haven't been trounced. lol It's all in good fun! Everyone has their own ideas of what is best for the band. However, overall, our commonalities are greater that our differences...at least with regard to our love of their music.

Gosh I thought the divas show was so boring. Plus my headache started just after celine came on. Then it got worse with LMP....
I am glad Stevie was not there. Yes I support the idea for the show for Save the Music, but for her to have been there with the people that were there would have been a joke.
I could not wait to turn the tv off.

I'm with you Tamara. I saw the last 45 minutes at the urging of a friend. He wanted to see the trianwreck. And boy, was what I saw a trainwreck.
Whitney's voice is in shreds. She can barely hold a note and sounds like she had smoked a carton of cigarettes and God knows what else before the show. Once again, Blige proved she cannot carry a tune, and has practically no voice at all. As for Ahsanti, Beyonce, and Jewel...well, they can sing, but have almost no power and teeny tiny ranges. It was jaw droppingly bad. Chaka Khan was the only one I saw who can sing and sing with authority. Oops, Latifah can hold her own too. I like her sass, and she has the pipes.
Ultimately, I looked at that group and thought it was a sad state of affairs. I did tape the second run, becaue I want to see Lisa Marie. I think she's a fireball. I'll drag out the earplugs for Screechine Dion.
I'm all for publicity, but this event was like a bad karaoke night with an open bar. Stevie would have been slumming.

yes, I was channel surfing thru a lot of the show but Chaka Kahn was amazing...proving you can gain some weight and still be respected...

I was pleasantly surprised Lisa Marie was pretty good, I am now going to buy her cd...see promotion = sales.

and Queen Latifah was an awesome hostess tho I was not crazy about her end of show medley. btw, she is a Stevie Nicks fan herself!!

 thanks to everyone who responded to my post!!

I didn't watch the show...wasn't even on my mind...but I'm interested what people thought of Lisa Marie Presley? For some odd reason I'm very intrigued by her...and love her voice. I think I may get her album too! That action alone makes me a bigger fan of her than Elvis. Never understood the Elvis thing. However, I don't think we can ever expect a long music career from Lisa. During a TV interview she said it took 35 years for her to get around to making this album...and it will take another 35 to make a second one! And we though Stevie and Fleetwood Mac took a long time!!!!!!!!!!

I thought LMP did an okay job. I really like her record, but I suspect they put the pitch correcting machinery into overdrive in those sessions. Her version of "Lights Out" had a ton of clunker notes, though she has a strong presence and, I think, a lot of sex appeal. What really kicked was her duet on "Heartbreaker" with Pat Benatar. Excellent and completely unexpected. Her singing was much better on that number. The highlight of a dreadful show.
